My first attempt at a dual coil. Tried it on my ehpro clone.

12 wraps of 27g on 1/16 bit for each coil. I used the side holes on the deck to mount them

Each coil has 3 strands cotton yarn as a wick.

Came out to .6ohm

Made sure the tails are against the deck wall and he channels are completely visible.

Looks good. Now that's something I'd like to try on my KFL. Maybe do it with mesh as well just for the heck of it next time I'm bored on the weekend.

Now for what I came for: I've had my KFL now for a little more than 30 days, every time I go the put a new wick and coil in it I end up just dry burning it and putting it back together with the same 30 day old wick and coil. And it's working just great. It's 3 mm silica "S" with a short piece of 3 mm added to the coil, 28 gauge nichrome @ 0.8 Ω. Never have I used a wick and coil any where near that long.

LOL! I go through the same gymnastics as you. Pull it apart with the intention of building a new coil and then ask, "What's wrong with the one I have on"? NOTHING!!! So I put it back together and refill it. :)

Now that sounds like a good idea! I've been wondering on ceramic wicks. I saw once a pic of someone that filed away and molded a ceramic wick that sat on the deck like a jacket with the coil on top inside a little cup molded into the ceramic wick itself. It looked custom as hell, wish I would've bookmarked it. Now just using a small straight ceramic wick sounds promising.

What do you suspect the benefits might be over mesh?

Did it look something like this?
