Anyone have a kayfun lite plus black edition? My girlfriend keeps nagging me how crappy her protank3 is even on rebuilt coils compared to my R91...of course lol. I was also planning on getting another authentic kfl+ or Russian 91 for myself to pair with my provari since I'm using my Russian on my mech to subohm. What's your thoughts on the black edition? People are claiming its better then the real kayfuns and Russians which I don't know how.

I've got 3 of them. I've also got 2 legit R91s and 2 KFL+s, so I feel comfortable in making a head to head comparison.
I jumped on the Black when I first saw them posted. I figured for $50, if it was of decent quality and worked without too much tinkering, it was well worth it (I had a Tobeco clone that was a PITA to get going).
Long story short, I liked the Black so much, I picked up 2 more. Compared to the real KFL+ and R91, the only real negatives are slightly less precision threading and the heads on the deck screws are a little smaller than the KFL+ (but about the same as the R91). It's not a problem for me, but I've heard others mention it. Otherwise, you are basically getting a $100 atty for $50. The finish on the device is virtually identical to the original KFL+.
The outside air hole is about 1.5 mm, which is just slightly smaller than that on the real deal. The overall airflow may be just ever so slightly less airy than the R91 and KFL+ when the AFC is opened all the way up, but honestly it isn't very noticeable.
Just remember, like any other atty you should clean it thoroughly when you first get it. Take everything to bits and give it a good scrubbing with a toothbrush and dish soap. I follow that up with a soak in vodka for a few hours and then a good hot water rinse. You want to be sure you rid it of any machining oils or gunk that could cause an off flavor or restrict airflow.....speaking of which......
When you pull out the inner center pin, there are two things to look for; 1). Make sure the air hole in the pin is clear of any plastic burrs left over from the insulator and 2). Check to make sure that when the insulator is down against the head of the screw that it doesn't partially cover the air hole. This will restrict airflow and could give you "The Whistle". If the insulator covers up part of the air hole, just take an emery board and gently sand down the narrow end of the insulator until it clears the hole I. The screw.
But to sum it up....Yes, it is a good product and IMO, well worth the $50.
