don't need a dremel nor drill. you can just use something like one of those screwdrivers with a clip, or use a pen with one of those clips also. double over a length of wire but don't cut it so their separate, keep them together, now insert into that clip and just twist the pen or driver. another thing that works great is a paintbrush that has a hole in the end. just loop the wire thru and hold the 2 open ends together then twist the paintbrush. this does work but may take a little more time then a drill but it does work and really doesn't take that long to twist a small section of wire. maybe take a single 12in to 18in length of wire and double it over, with this you are ultimately winding up with about a 6 to 8 in piece after its twisted. this should make at least 2 to 3 coils. also you don't need the twist to be super tight like some do on a drill, as long as its fairly tight it works really good. im working on a vid that shows some twisted set ups in the kayfun, I thought I could started yesterday but couldn't, should have it done by Monday though

MONDAY?!... Slacker! :p

I've just begun building my kfl+ and not had problems, but also not achieved a completely satisfying result.
Your comments have been very helpful. Thank you.

What would be useful to relative beginners (and perhaps it's out here somewhere) is a quick-and-dirty guide to coils from a "sensory" standpoint rather than an electrical one. Something along the lines of: if you want a cool flavorful vape using 28g wire do this, and if you prefer a warm throat-hitting kick do this, and if you want something in between, modify this variable to increase/decrease this end-result. Basically, it is possible to take your post substitute my sensory phrases with your wattages, and provide general guidelines?

I definitely have that in mind. I do have some basic videos on the kayfun and then thought of this, basically what you said, now that im ready to start this video I realize I need a few more days to get it together.

I've wicked it and finally am getting decent flavor, plenty of vapor and its just nice and warm instead of too hot. But all your too high comments have me wondering...

This is the latest iteration of the Black Russian version of the Kayfun, from Artemis on eBay, with his improvements, one of which had to do with the air intake. From what I've gathered from comments a 'typical,' if there is such a thing, Kayfun doesn't have the small lip around the air hole. Could that change make the air coming into the chamber be flowing faster or more directed right at the coil such that I need the extra height? This is the same wick that produced too warm for me vapor with very muted flavor when I had it lower, at what everyone was describing as the proper height?

it is very possible that this is the case. because its already raised this does add some distance. because all of my kayfuns airholes are basically flat across the deck my distance to coil looks kind of low compared to yours. in the end its just finding what works best for you. its just a little bit of a bummer that one has to take out all the juice before fiddling in the kayfuns. but in time you will know what works best for your particular set up.

I know, but I want to do a good job on this one. hey is it me or has something changed when you add a post? I keep getting redirected to scott on the first page. it used to direct you to the last page

Yeah, the recent server upgrade threw some of the extensions for a loop and the "last post/unread" etc is not working yet. The coders are doing their best to work through the issues and hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Very well. I'll attempt that this weekend. Care to explain how twisting the wires affect the resistance/length? I'm guessing it goes down.

Would also appreciate advice/recommendations on number of strands, gauge and number of wraps. Hoping to get approx 1.1 - 1.3 ohms on a 1/16 drill bit. I currently have 28 and 30 ha kanthal.

Changed to a different flavor, this one is dark, it's chocolate mint. Very good flavor with my too high coil setup. Based on my experience with dripper (RDA) coils I'm hoping I can get through the tank before the cotton is all gunked up. I had to replace the cotton on my RDA after about a day and a half of dripping. I moved to a few short strands of silica wick with those type e-liquid, I could just dry burn without replacing the wick. That wasn't nearly the trouble as rewicking this Kayfun is going to be. Suggestions for a way to prolong the life of a wick with thick, sweet, dark e-liquid? Silica? Something else?

Damn, now everyone is going to blame me for the delay in your video production.:D
But, thanks for considering my comments, and I'm looking forward to the tutorials. BTW, where are your previous videos accessible?

I definitely have that in mind. I do have some basic videos on the kayfun and then thought of this, basically what you said, now that im ready to start this video I realize I need a few more days to get it together.

I know its not authentic parts but hopefully they are same. 1:1

I just wanna test drilling out 2mm and didn't wanna risk my authentic pin even though I drilled the base airhole already. At the end once it gets to the pin it still gets the same amount of air going through the center pin... Just easier getting there with the hole widened.

I made a microcoil on 5/64 ID before I went to bed. Then when I woke up I redid it to 1.4mm I'd, but now back to 5/64 and gonna force myself to stick with it for the day. Could be placebo but it feels like my vapes were denser on the smaller ID.

Edit: so for some reason ive gotten dry hits from 2mm ID with the correct wicking method.

Home early from work. Only good thing that has happened is I finally found both KFL's and the Russian 91. Not sure what's in the Russian but it's sure tasty. I know it's got to be a HHV juice, I just don't remember which one.

Glad you found them...now to figure out which juice it is... as long as it tastes good it really doesn't matter.

I drilled my air hole and center pin from the side and down the shaft last night . About ready to out it all back together after it soaking overnight . I did mine at 1.90mm on my mill. Id say we will have to wick alil different and prime it more than usual.

Why cause it messes up the vacuum? If so then I won't even bother drilling the pin.
