My juice doesn't gunk up tho. It just tastes nasty after a full tank with cotton. How thick is your wick??? I just want to know if you get more flavor with a thick wick or a thin one.

Well, with cotton, it's as thick as it needs to be to have a slight tug while moving through the coil. Too little is bad, as well as too much. So the coil dictates the "thickness" of the cotton wick. Due to that, I use a 2mm jig to build the coil. I really like 1.5mm, as the flavor is great there too, but 2mm keeps up with chain vaping more.

cheers finagle and Bronze. I was wondering how much longer I could run my current coils. They have kept me happy for the past 3 months, and honestly I have no urge to rebuild them yet.

Mine is starting to show some age and discoloration on the coil. I really should change it soon. But every time I clean it and re-wick, it still tastes and performs great. So I guess if it ain't broke...

hows it going my friend? I know coils can last a long time because there is not much that really can go wrong with them as long as you clean them but actually never known someone to keep one in that long. I think a lot of people(myself included) fiddle with coils and rarely keep in one coil that long so its pretty neat to see that length of success. so is it the same piece of silica also?

Hey Friend. I just changed the silica about a week or two ago. It was getting pretty ragged. But the coil is none the worse for wear. It started at 1.9 ohms and it stalled at 2.1 and holding. You're right, there's no reason why it can't last a long, long time. I figured everyone was trying every imaginable build mankind can think of so I thought I'd try something unique...see how long I can make a coil last. Oddly, I've received interest from people who like the idea as they are not fiddlers but want to be able to enjoy a top end juice burner like the Kayfun. So when they see I have a five month old coil still going strong they become interested. Just shipped some premade coils to one gal who just sprung for a Provari and Kayfun. All she has to do is screw it on the thing and she's good to go. She simply does not want to mess around with building. There are niches ll over the place and I just happened to fill one of them. I had my fun with rebuildables. Now I just want to vape. :)

Good eye! They are pretty nice, but the wait to get it was crazy.

I got in the list way late by just emailing the guy. Got it like a week after that. So it wasn't so bad for me. Haha. I don't do FB so I have to email people if I want something.

awesome for sure and sending out some pre made coils is quite a help to those who aren't initially familiar with the process. some say doing this isn't safe but only agree with that when doing sub ohm coils but I know your set up is one that is way above 1 ohm so there are no worries there.

hey ricks what going on? still vaping porous ceramic? anyways if your wicks are not gunking and they are tasting nasty I would venture to say its something in the set up. there is a fine line on the amount of cotton and either way will cause flavor issues. here is a pic of one of my wicks so you can kind of get an idea of the amount. one thing that I like is sort of thick tails but where the cotton is in the coil shouldn't be to much or to tight. I think I use maybe more then most but after I do mine I sort of pull some cotton threads out in the middle of the coil just where the coil is. so at least in that particular area the cotton isn't to thick. you have to imagine that when the cotton swells up its going to increase and if it increases to much in the coil it kind of chokes off and doesn't wick as well.

Yes, I would never send out sub-ohm or coils meant for mechanical mods. I feel safe knowing they are 2.0 ohms being used on a protected Provari.

Have you done any vids of late?

perfect all around coil. I did one a couple weeks back about the kayfun. its not what I had originally thought of but just a basic kayfun type video. I had a few other kayfun videos but changed some of those and deleted others, I eventually didn't have a basic one geared towards vv devices. this one has 3 basic coils that can be used at medium resistances. you know originally I wanted to do one that was geared towards power, like if someone wanted a cooler vape, or a warmer vape but tbh it seems to me that whatever set up I have made in my kayfun they are all fairly close imo. my so called lightest vape is a 1.5ish at 14 watts, and if I compare that to my heaviest vape (a 26g, .9ish coil at 20 watts) the vape is not that much different. now maybe if I vaped in the 8 to 10 watt range, I could show differences between coils and such between that and the 20 watt set ups but I really never vape below 14 so I couldn't really say. anyways here is the latest one...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_5tJwK8CUk

Hey vap, doing well and always finding you here for help and advice. I'm using my Vamo mostly and will make a 1.5 to 1.8Ω coil. I have 28, 30 and 32g kanthal. What size wire do you recommend and should I make a tight coil or one spaced out and what will be the best coil diameter for the cotton? Thanks for helping

I know you didn't ask me, but I can speak to this. I'd recommend 30AWG wire for getting that resistance. Use a 5/64" (2mm) drill bit and do around 8 or 9 wraps tightly spaced. You'll be right in your butter zone.

That same setup with 28AWG would give you around 1.1 to 1.3 Ohms for reference.
