Man I have found that these things are so damn finicky it's not funny. Lmao I set mine up 23 times in two days (my only 2days off that week was spent trying to get it running lol) (and ended up letting my 6yr old wrap one coil cuz I thought maybe I'm wrapping it too right and don't worry that's all she did was wrap wire around a drill bit) I ended up giving up on it and went back to drippers. About 3wks later a vape shop opened up next to where I work and I brought them my own supplies and said here play with this. I can't do it. (I thought my clone had crappy small channels and I'm sure you'll see me complain on many diff kfl threads) the guy set it up once and said here try this. Not one dry hit lol I was so furious. I couldn't figure out what he did that I didn't do. He did exactly what I been doing this whole time. So after I finished my tank I went for a refill. Immediately I got dry hits. Ugh. Back to square one. I changed nothing so I was clueless all I did was refill it. Smdh. To make a super long story (sorry) a few sentences shorter. The whole time I had the build and set up right. What I was doing wrong was over filling it. Lol. After countless wasted juice spilling out from hard primer hits and countless headaches that's what I was doing wrong. Now I have been trying the top fill method and I haven't had an issue yet. Lol. Sorry for the ramble. But sometimes we live and learn and if you are having dry hits and lots of problems just take a breath and thibk hmmm maybe I over filled it

Ps. I'm in love with my cloned kfl plus. Although it has made me change ejuice vendors cuz the punch this little thing gives is insane. But it's just insane to think how a month or so ago I almost threw my clone out the window and thought maybe I'm not the rebuild kinda guy even though I've never had a problem with my drippers ever. I almost went back to kangers and iclears for the simplicity. I'm so happy that I have it a new try on a new mind and new day. Don't ever give up on your kfl clone or not. Sometimes we need help or a diff plan of attack but these things are epic and I can't wait to see what's better than this next year

Thank you for the face palm. That was very polite compared to what you should have have me lol.

Next time...come to this thread. :)

BTW, filling from the bottom is simple. Use a 5ml syringe (see link below). Invert the Kayfun at a 45 degree angle. Fill and leave a BB sized air bubble in the window. You're good to go. The 18ga. needle on the syringe will allow you to insert it in the fill hole and leave enough gap for the displaced air to escape. Enjoy your Kayfun!

Hey B, why do you use a syringe? K'funs are designed to be filled thru a 'sealed' fill-hole contact since 3.1ES. I just press the mouth of my juice bottle tight on the KFL's fill-hole (ensuring no air is escaping from the sides).

You seem to be figuring stuff out pretty well, Andria, so I'll just post this for reference. Here's how you want your cotton and coil to look after dry wicking. Keep in mind that the cotton I have in the coil is not compressed or rolled too much. It's just loose in there.

Yup, regular $2 for 80 Jumbo cotton balls from Walmart. The brand is Swisspers. I just take a little time making sure the strands are nice and straight.

Not sure I'm understanding you Q. "Sealed fill hole"? I have a KFL original. If I were to press the tip of my juice bottle against the fill hole I would make a mess, not to mention I would flood the chamber. Not sure I am understanding you.

That's the source of your confusion. Note that he said *since* the 3.1ES (and including most clones) the fill hole is shaped such that a standard drip bottle nipple will fit into the fill hole nicely sealing it tight. Then you just squeeze to fill. But that won't work on the original Kayfun lite.

I think Q was referring to the 3.1 and it's variations which have a fill hole on the side. As for the KFL's that you and I have and love, the fill hole is on the bottom, and yes, I fill using a bottle jammed up against the hole, as well as sometimes using a syringe... after taking out the screw ofcourse. :)

OK, I know the 3.1 has that sealed fill hole but I also know Q knows his Kayfuns so I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. I have filled my KFL original with those blunt/rounded dripper tips that are supplied with the juice bottles and I must be a clod because I make a mess out of it. That's why I use a syringe. I've used that thing so much it's like an appendage to my hand and requires no effort for me. And never a mess. Just me. :)

Guys, for the lite version I only have the 'first run' of KFLs. I never purchased the KFL+ or the KFL+v2.

And I 'fill' all my three KFLs (purchased early 2013) by 'directly' pressing the tip of my 30ml juice bottles (regular tip. Not needle tip / nor slim tip). I ensure that the tip is snug fit on the 'bottom' fill-hole, so that there's no air escaping thru the sides.

Been doing so since I purchased them. Never had a side spill. Never had a chamber flood. Never had any issues. Just loads the juice perfectly. This is another gr8 thing I like about my KFLs ~ easy to fill, without the need of carrying anything extra other than a standard juice bottle. No syringe needed, no needle tip bottle needed either.

Q, you don't have to convince me you make it work doing it that way. I was a CE3 user for a long time before the rebuildables became popular. Those required a needle fill...there was no other way. And those held only 1ml of juice so I was refilling constantly. I got so used to syringe filling I haven't stopped since. I use a syringe to fill everything. I'm surprised I don't feed myself from a syringe. :)

And I just ordered my second KFL last night from In Taste. Of course, it's the Plus version so I will have one of each now. Ordered it last night and got a voicemail this morning telling me it would be here by 10:30 AM tomorrow morning and to leave a signed note. Vape Rev was out of stock. Not sure about C9.

My only concern about the Plus is the whistling. Seemed it was a bigger problem in the beginning than it is now. I will be very disappointed if mine whistles. I will do whatever I have to to get rid of that whistling including destroying the unit if I have to. This was the main reason why I have delayed this purchase. Keeping my fingers crossed.

If you invert the KFL then press the bottle into the fill hole, you can only flood the chamber if you overfill. This is how I fill my 2 kfls. Its a ton easier than grabbing a syringe.

Which makes sense due to the feed channels being at the very bottom (or very top when inverted) of the device.

This is also the way I fill mine, a little slower nowadays though since adding a quartz tank kit.
In fact a needle can't get past the bottom ring and will leak severely out the fill hole.
