Oh, come on guys. You're much too tough on USPS. Do you really think USPS should have had a truck waiting outside Customs to immediately drive your 8 dollar M tank from there to your house -- for less than 50 cents? Would you do it for 50 cents?

Not sure what customs has to do with it, since it comes from CA (that's California, not Canada), and I ordered it over a week ago, so yeah, it should have been here today, especially since it cleared the sort facility 25 miles from my home at midnight last night. It's pure laziness; every other time it clears Atlanta sort around midnight, it gets to Lawrenceville, 25 miles away, by early the next morning, and it's here with the mail shortly after noon. Just pure laziness.

I'm still not sure if I'll have access to some form of data on a cell phone, but I'll be popping in once in a while.

Also that........ I think now would be a good time for me to shut up and not blabber.

IN OTHER NEWS..... :D

Sorry, I assumed it was a international shipment, but the same logic applies. Over 150 billion pieces a year, and because of the rare occurrence (your position) that one doesn't make it 25 miles in one day for 50 cents, they're lazy. I'd be interested in hearing your idea for moving a piece 25 miles in 12 hours for 50 cents. It's not like they don't have 150 billion other things to do. Tough crowd!

Just cleaned and dry burned one of my kfl's that has silica on it. It went through 12ml of liquid and started tasting a little funny.

That's about what I go ricks. Three tanks and then I rinse/dryburn. There are some juices I could not even go one full tank on...most NETs (naturally extracted tobaccos). They are extremely gunky.

... but I managed, thinking the whole time "this surely won't be enough," but remembering how the yarn swelled to like twice its normal size, soaked in e-juice;I think it is enough; it vapes anyway. Can't say I really taste much difference, but this isn't the super-duper organic expensive cotton, it's just plain old white cotton that's been boiled to remove any bleach or impurities, and it tastes ok.
Glad to hear you got things working. You've seen folks say less is more with cotton, now you know why. I typically use between half and 2/3 of the cotton from 1 end of a Q-Tip for a Kayfun wick. Never bothered boiling it. Good luck with your future builds.

Well after awhile I realized I really wasn't getting all that much, either vapor or flavor, so I dismantled it and had a look, and it really wasn't enough, even soaked with e-juice it was barely half-filling the coil. So I went back to the yarn. It'll have to do until I can get those cotton balls. It's definitely more flavor than I was getting from either the plain silica or the ekowool.

This is an odd atomizer though. Sometimes it seems like I'm not getting all that much, flavor or throat hit, other times it gives me so much throat hit it brings on an asthma attack. Not sure why it goes from one extreme to the other like that.

I thought it might be the low resistance coil, so I did another, and this time managed to hit it squarely at 2 ohms solid, and it vapes very well; I made sure to get it very tight so it would heat up quickly, so it's not slow. But I'm still getting that touchy-throat response. I've been thinking that I might need to come down from the 85% PG just a smidge; I have a hard time with high-VG juice, it sits in my chest and won't move, but with this Kayfun, I may not need such an extremely high level of PG just to get throat hit. Since I customize my nic level myself, by ordering lg quantities of 6mg and small quantities of 24mg to add to bring it up to 9mg, I may start getting the higher nic in 18mg instead, in the 85% VG blend, and that would tone down the high PG a little. I had to do everything to get good throat hit in those small clearomizers, since I use such a low nicotine level, but with this Kayfun, it seems that such extreme measures are somewhat overkill.

Tomorrow I should be able to get those cotton balls, so I can try some "real" wicks and see how it goes.

You seem to be figuring stuff out pretty well, Andria, so I'll just post this for reference. Here's how you want your cotton and coil to look after dry wicking. Keep in mind that the cotton I have in the coil is not compressed or rolled too much. It's just loose in there.

Nice neat and clean job there Lovin' it.

I listened to what you had to say when I was struggling with yarn before I went to India in Feb. Thank you again for taking the time to chat with me and re-focus my attention on cotton. I haven't had any issues since. :)

Ok, very cool -- that really is a beautiful job! :thumb: When I tried the cotton I salvaged from the Qtips, it was nothing like that much, so no surprise that it just didn't work very well.

One thing I was wondering; I'm using 30ga wire, so I never end up with that many wraps; for the 1.7Ω I used 5, and the 2Ω I did last night, 6 wraps. Would it be better to use 28ga, so there are more wraps, more coil touching/vaporizing the wick/ejuice? But then I have to wonder, if I'm using thicker wire, it would be more difficult to substitute a lighter for an actual torch, wouldn't it? The lighter worked great with 32ga, and it seems adequate for the 30ga but I make several slow passes back and forth; I'm guessing that a thicker wire would really require an actual torch, to get the high heat necessary to anneal wire that thick?

Thx much!!

You can also wrap the 30g on a smaller diameter drill bit. 7 wraps on 5/64" comes out to about 1.8 ohms

Andria, as Akdare said above, 30g around 5/64 would also give you a good coil. I'm pretty sure that Bronze uses that as well.

28 is definitely thicker and requires a lot of heat to get going, so may definitely require a proper torch.

I have a feeling I won't be ordering any more 28, when I run out of what I have, in around 10 years or so. ;)

Next step is Dual coil or twisted 30. Maybe even a triple twisted 32.

The coil up top was with 26g wire, and 10 wraps gave me 1.2ohms. It needed a LOT more power than I was willing to give it, and have since gone back to my 28g coils.
