I rebuild all my kanger coils with just cotton no silica... that is why kayfun was a simple upgrade same coil and wick setup I now use in kayfun
When I first tried rebuilding a kanger I ran out of cuss words and started making up new ones. So small, such big fat fingers and again zero patience. I kept having the damn coil resting one the head shorting it out. And that is what pushed me into RBAs. As soon as I got the kayfun figured out she decided to start vaping and quit smoking; I had one day off from the kayfuns. Lol

I had wondered about this; the pics you all post, the coils look so tidy, so straight and neat and every wrap touching... I can't imagine how you all get them so perfect. Mine look nothing like that, even when brand spanking new, but they seem to work.
Here's the one I'm using right now... 1.8 Ω, 6 wraps 30ga on 3/32 drillbit...
In case you're wondering, all that cotton is from using the "cotton nest" technique that I found here, and it works GREAT, even though my wraps don't touch, and mine kinda leans to the diagonal; not sure why except I've changed the wick about 3 times in this coil, and I try to straighten it each time but it never does go back to perfectly perpendicular to the screws.
As for getting the wraps to touch... guess I'm gonna have to invest in some ceramic tweezers. I can't get the needle-nose pliers in there quickly enough after firing to get them mashed together; I'm just too shaky.
And as for letting a wick go that long without changing?
I have to change mine about every 24-30 hrs, because of burnt taste. And no I'm not using "too much" cotton, the burnt taste doesn't arrive till I've been using it for 24-30 hrs! That's a real improvement over the T3S tanks I was using before the KFL+, which would give me a burnt taste right off the bat, every time I used cotton, sometimes even with silica. I can only hope that I will get better at coil building, maybe when I get those ceramic tweezers so I can actually hold it WHILE it's firing, because trying to mash it together the very instant I take my finger off the fire button just isn't working for me, I shake, I can't get the points of the needle-nose where I want them; I can't judge if the needle-noses are at the same distance from my eyes as the coil, because I don't want them to be too close, lest I shake enough to touch the coil while it's firing and short everything out.

Learn the most out of any of the tutorials on coil building. The first one is rather long but was the easiest to learn. The "methods" used both make some great coils; just, modify the wire and wrap to suit your preferences the method is what's important I think.

Fantastic coil pic, bro! Few months back Dusty also had posted a similar neat feat. These are proud pictures indeed.
Aren't there ANY that are just pictures instead of videos? I have serious problems with videos on this old computer, just not enough video ram, which means to watch a video at all, I have to close EVERYTHING else running on the PC -- I have 10 tabs open in Chrome (and Chrome hogs memory like nobody's business anyway, but firefox is even worse), and 4 other applications open besides Chrome -- and even when I close everything, any video I try to watch hops, skips, stops completely while the audio goes on, etc. It's very hard to learn from a video doing that.
As for breathing, it seems to breathe just fine. If I use less cotton than shown above, it doesn't fill the coil at all, it just lays at the bottom of it. And mine looks pretty much the same as in the pics shown in the blog post I got this cotton nest idea from; don't believe me, go look.
It vapes fine. I just can't figure out a) how y'all get the wraps all touching so perfectly, so neatly it looks like something a machine made, and b) how on earth a wick could possibly last 5 wks when I can't even get them to last 2 days.

I don't torch or temper my wire at all. I use 28 g kanthal
Basically I wrap the coil as tight as I can get it by hand. Then while the cOil is still on the bit; or whatever you use to wrap it; grab both ends and wrap it around each other to pull it a little closer.
I hook it up to the kfun and pulse it a few times then I let it dry burn till the provari cuts out. Right after it cuts out I grab needle nose and pull the coil together while it cools. I do that a few times. Basically that makes the coil stick together as one piece. One of my kfuns has had the same coils on it for almost 2 months now and looks almost as good as when i built it.
Some people hold the coil with the needle nose or tweazers nice and tight and torch it till it glows; holding it for a few seconds then install it. Dry burning works better for me; that way, it won't go out of shape while I'm setting it in place.

That's how Svoemesto and Vape Rev wrap their coils on their tutorials. They don't use micros or minis or nanos. Many a variety of coil designs work on a Kayfun.
I tried just about all builds with silica and cotton and I find that silica and that coil works best for me. Its a 1.8Ω and I burn it at 5-6 watts only. Any higher it tastes burnt.
You vape cooler than I do. I vape at 6.5 watts for the same reason you cite. I find the cooler it is, the more flavor I get. Warm vapes, to me, is just that, warm.

That's why I stick to desert vapes; caramels, vanillas, creams and coffees. Those seem to have an enhanced flavor to me when warm. The fruity ones either lose there flavor or make me envision rotten cantaloupe when warm. And a cool vape just sort of bugs me for anything other than cinnamon flavors. In general though I just prefer warm. I do a 1-1.2 dual coil at between 3.8v and 4.0v and it's nice and warm.

I ordered me a Kayfun Lite Plus today and really excited! But I know that I will be having to use the stainless steel tank sometimes with some of my juices. But how in the heck do you fill it up without seeing the juice level?
Also how are the threads on this? I will add that it is the clone from Ehpro...I didn't want to make a full leap till I knew I liked it.

If you have a set of metal tweezers, they're awesome for coil squeezing
And a whole lot easier to wield than the needle nose pliers. I usually keep themRight next to the coil while firing and give it a quick squeeze right after I release the button.
Master of Bassets...and not much else.
