For hands free light and magnification, I don't mess around: Amazon.com - Daylight Slimline Magnifying Lamp - Desk Lamps I have a cheap magnifing visor that fits on my head, but it's a bit of a pain - literally. It works OK, but I really like that magnifier lamp.

I do have a third hand for solder work, but don't use it much for coils. Before getting the coiling gizmo, I sometimes held and torched the coil in the locking tweezers that come with http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003Y085QO/

wow... the magnifier is pricey Got mine from Office Depot ( 6" lens with led ring light and lens cover) for 68$

Realspace model for 69$ ( new price)

I've decided that I'm going to embrace the ugly, and not worry about how my coils look; who cares what they look like, they vape great, and that's really all that counts.

Andria

that's pretty much how i feel about my face. two eyes, two ears, one mouth, one nose, eyebrow and hair. Not the best looking package out that, but hey, it still works as a face.

Yea, the price on that Daylight Slimline lamp fluctuates insanely. A year or so ago, I put it in my cart, but when I went to check out a couple of hours later, it had jumped up another $50 dollars. I moved it to my "Buy Later" cart and waited 'til it came back to my level of comfort. And I like that it comes with two quality glass lenses.

That's the ticket! Heck, your coil is even photogenic as is.

Maybe someone here can help me...

I have a KFL+ clone (hcigar I think?) and I just cannot get it working consistently. I've tried a few wicking materials, always single microcoils coming out 1.2-2Ω. Best luck I've had so far was SS mesh wick (PITA to set up) but it still has the same problem... I'll get 5-10 good hits, then it'll go dry. If I wait a while between hits, my next hit is always dry. Take a few primer pulls and it'll be fine for 5-10 hits, then flooding. Wait a while, get 5-10 good hits then dry and just keeps going through this cycle. Anyone know what the problem is?

I've read through quite a few posts here, making sure not to block the groove where the juice gets let to the deck. My cotton touches the bottom of the juice wells and if there's extra I run it along the back of the well (Not flattening it against the wall to the deck, but using juice to kinda gently glue it to the back wall so it doesn't interfere with the groove). With the stainless steel I kinda pinched the ends to more of a rectangle shape and it's a bit closer to that groove. I also check after I put the chimney on to make sure the cotton doesn't get moved in any way, and if it does I fix it.

With the ss mesh it can be a few things but with the cotton I would venture to say that the wick is not staying saturated enough. This also can be from a variety of things. For one, and the trickiest thing, the amount of cotton maybe slightly wrong. Possibly not enough or to much in the coiled area. Have you messed with the air control screw? Sometimes if the screw is set too open the vacuum isn't enough to pull up the juice. So maybe try closing this screw to see if it helps. Most of the time though it's the wick being the wrong density through the coil. Can you send any pics of your set up? With photos in various stages of your build would be best in us troubleshooting the issue.

I have a friend that bought a clone where the grooves that provide juice to the wick were not cut deep enough. They were barely .5 mm or so deep. This caused a wicking issue when he took 5 - 10 hits. He'd then take a few primer pulls, and it'd be fine for a while, until it went dry again. Does that sound familiar? Last time I saw him, he was going to take a fine tip dremel to the grooves.

As Vapdivrr suggested, get a picture posted so that we can identify and help troubleshoot the problem.

Lack of airtight seal would likely cause flooding than dry hits IMO. But regardless, a handy and super quick way of checking the seal is to turn the atty upside down, cover the airhole with a finger and try sucking on the drip tip. A completely sealed atty should prevent you from being able to suck at all. Yup!

I'm pretty new to all this kayfun stuff myself, but I happened on this blog about using a "cotton nest" -- it works really well for me, so just thought I'd recommend it. I don't get dry hits at all, and the only flooding is at the beginning, from over-saturating the wick and nest, but that's easily blown out. It winds up looking like this (yes I know the coil is deformed, but IT WORKS! and so does the "nest"):

It's very easy even for a neophyte like me, so you can always try it and see if it works for you.

I was wondering if anyone has tried one of the black kayfuns on a gun-metal mod, how that looks... I've been debating on a gun-metal mod of some kind for a while, but now that I've discovered the wonder that is kayfun, I won't be getting much use out of my gun-metal UDCT, and wondered how one of the black kayfuns would look against the gun-metal. Some places call it "black chrome" but it looks like gun metal to me.

Anyone have any pics of that combo?

It's dark now and my cell phone, the only convenient picture device I have handy, doesn't take good flash photos. I'll try to assemble my gun metal Nemesis and toss the black Kayfun on it for a pic tomorrow. Right now the gun metal is just switch and top cap on a red aluminum tube. I can take the pic with a Fogger V4.3 instead of the Kayfun lite if you'd prefer.

No rush. I've heard great things about the fogger, so I might give it a try eventually, but right now I'm just blown away by the kayfuns. I've been intrigued by the black chrome/gun metal mods for a while, so I'm thinking of finally getting one; had a hard time making up my mind, the Vamo is cheaper than the sigelei v5 gun metal, but I *know* the Sigelei is good, those stainless threads, just excellent quality, and I love the shape, the bottom part when it's telescoped out *just* fits my hand, nice comfy grip, so I'm thinking the gun metal sigelei will win that contest. Plus I think the Vamo is taller, and the kayfuns are tall enough.

But yeah when you get the opportunity, I'd love to see a black kayfun on a gun metal mod; can't seem to find that combo when I just google it.

Thx!
Andria
