Go to youtube and look at a few videos. Great way to learn many ways to use the kayfun.

This video was recommended a few pages back and it looks like about the simplest method (which is what I need), however the british accent hurts things. He calls it the microcoil method. What wire type and where can I buy it for the coil? Also what size drill bit in English not metric?

OK this video looks like a simple method (I want to start simple) but I can't make out what wire he is using for the coil? :

Kayfun Lite Review & Setup w. Microcoil & cotton - YouTube

Last if you are in a place where syringes are not allowed does anyone sell a filling device for these?

thanks

Lol just wanna say that if you're looking for kanthal, go to lightningvapes on eBay or just temco.

If there's ONE thing that's consistently priced ridiculously in b&ms, it's kanthal. Scowls.

+1 on lightningvapes, but I just go to lightningvapes.com -- such a nice guy, and he keeps increasing his inventory! :thumb:

I just ordered a 100ft. spool of 30 gauge Kanthal directly from TEMco (the manufacturer) via their eBay store, and it only cost about $5.50 w/ free shipping. They also sell it in 25' and 50' rolls for slightly cheaper, but 100' spools are by far the best deal (and yes, the vape shops that sell 3' lengths for $4 or whatever are making an absolute killing!) I personally think 30 gauge is a good "general purpose" gauge (unless you get into sub-ohming, but Kayfuns don't seem to perform their best at sub ohm levels anyway.) It's thin enough where you can also use it to rebuild some of the "disposable" heads too (like Kangers.) A lot of people use 28 gauge, but that's thicker and has a lower resistance, so it could be a little more finicky to start out with. 29 gauge would probably be a great middle-ground size, but it's a little harder to find.

I'm good on the kanthal and cotton... I am building coils... I'd like to do a better job... but I am building them... the youtube videos will help...

I was taking about the kits to transform the kayfun tank into transparent... multi-colored etc... I see a lot of sites with varying prices...

or if there are other accessories to enhance the performance or look...

+1 for going directly to TEMCo Industrial Power Supply (TEMCo for short), they even have an eBay store if you prefer purchasing there instead of the Web. Although lighteningvapes has some handy items you do better price wise directly from the manufacturer.

Vaperev.com here in the us has a nice stock at the moment, but very pricey. I have almost everything kayfun, and I buy from intaste.de. Create an account with a USA address, and all the prices drop the 19% vat tax. The full transparent tank is nice. The colored center tanks are nice, but darker colors make it hard to see the juice level. Intaste.de also has the new puzzle drip tip system, which I got a few days ago, and I like so far.

Intaste.de shipping is blazing fast. Sometimes two days, but signature is required.

Pimping your kayfun is fun!

There are a couple different types. The first type is just a long plastic tank, which replaces the three "normal" tank sections; the size of the Kayfun stays the same and you don't need any other parts. I've seen those full plastic tanks for $4-$8, depending on where you buy (my local place sells them for $3.95 in various colors.)

The second kits are "Nano kits", which typically come with a shorter plastic tank and a shorter inner chimney. The point of those is to make the Kayfun a bit more compact. Those usually run around $10-$12, give or take. Instead of using the three normal tank pieces, you use the shorter "Nano Tank" along with the shortened chimney; you lose a little juice capacity, but it's meant to make it a bit more pocket-friendly.

A lot of vape shops sell these things because of the popularity of Kayfuns, and you can easily find them on eBay as well. Searching for phrases like "kayfun long m-tank" and "kayfun nano kit" should pull up some results. Just note that the "short m-tank" is usually the same thing as the clear center section that most Kayfuns already come with.

I have seen 2 different types of builds for the Kayfuns. Some the coil is laid diagnally and others they are laid straight. What is the difference between the 2?

I orient the coil with the ends facing the juice channels. That way the wick ends drop right down, and you can use a bit less wick tails. I use kgd cotton, and have found that setup to work best for me.

Kidney Punchers has the best price on that stuff, I discovered AFTER I bought two M-tanks on e-bay...

Tall Colored Kayfun Tank - Kidney Puncher - $2.95
Clear Kayfun Lite "M-Tank" Body Kit - Kidney Puncher - $11.95
Tobeco Kayfun Lite Full Clear Kit - Kidney Puncher - $12.95

I couldn't understand why I was getting such poor performance why Kayfun and then...DUH! I discovered I really didn't have it tightened down full at the top. Now its great!

One question...about how many wraps with 28 guage would I need for about a 1.5 ohm coil?

Depends on the diameter of your coil. On a 1.6 mm 11 wraps approximately. Less wraps the larger the diameter.

9/8 wraps around 3/32 drill bit will give you a 1.5ohm coil with 28g.

Although personally the idea of reducing the capacity of a large atomizer seems odd to be polite I've seen tons of clone nano kits. But I've yet to find a single clone of the extended chimney and tank. Are they out there and I'm just not looking right or do they just not exist?

That Estia looks like the Tajmahal of Kayfuns, 6 channels and three wicks, each channel alotting a wick to it, whew.

that puppy probably would produce more vape than anything around, you would think so.

maybe try one as a relic, but as much as oxygen isnt kind to taste, the lungs requre a bit.... I dunno, that puppy looks the beast of vaping beasts.

Yah I know a lot of you are slackas, but with the looming FDA stuff I figured, why not stock up just in case. Plus if you wreck the screw hole on the head of the kayfun which is machined too it, I suppose you could die and tap a new hole, but in the long run, I do think that the screw hole is not going to last forever, and it is shot when that hole wont work. (Which is why I take the screws completely off the Kayfun when removing the old wick and coil, when making a new wick and coil.) Anyhew, thats the reason I am a movaa and and an about to be shakaa. The other thing is if the FDA cranks down, there probably will be be a run on Kayfuns and other high quality tanks, might be hard to get- just a thought. Not a bad reason to be a movaaa and a shakaaa. but you know how predicting stuff can be:
What do you call a paranoid person who is wrong? >>> Paranoid
What do you call a paranoid person who is right? >>> Smart

No offense intended to other high quality tanks an RSST's I know there out there, cant try em all. Plus, if you stay with one group of tanks that you like, if one becomes scrap, at least you can use the working parts of it on other similar ones. The one thing that seems constant( although maybe there are some differences out there, I am not positive) is the interchangeable nature of Kayfun parts. I guess I will find out for sure when my EHpro gets in.

Note to qorax, your post kind of makes me want to try the Aqua. But i got a dual coil dripper, and it was nothing but a pain. the aqua rocks eh?
