Yeah, I cleaned this black russian in 91 percent isoprohyl no pun intended. Rebuilt it 1.0 coil. I had it at really high wattage, read in another thread just now I need to lower voltage, dropped my watts from 30 to 11.5 and its a lot better, it still doesn't taste like the grape juice I drip, but the hit is less harsh and that taste is less present, could I have burned it running high watts before and need to rebuilt it?

ive just had a bad experience with this whole device for the price I paid for it. I washed it and the annodizing got all messed up, harsh chemy hits and it sits crooked in my 510.. But I want something I can not keep dripping to vape in bed and while driving, I really like the idea of these, perhaps I've not caught up with the learning curve.

Don't really know what all to say. I build all my KFL's and also the Russian 91 no lower that 1.8 ohms. Works for me every time. I did have trouble at first when I got my KFL lite V1. Just took me some time to get use to how to wick it and all. Pays to practice. I know others will be along to help.

I have no earthly idea how anyone vapes at that power level; if I go over 9w with mine, it tastes burned. Probably just the juice I like, it's a very delicate taste and too much heat just ruins it completely, which is why I hate dual coils of any kind -- bottom coils, cartos, or even those dual topcoil iclear16's. Nasty.

I think maybe you could have burned it. I'm no expert, but it's kinda like, if you burn something in a stainless pain on the stove, you have to really work to get that burnt taste out of there; I always soak my stainless cookware in white vinegar, it cuts the starch/hard water gummy/hazy looking stuff off it, keeps it sparkling.

I have no idea if vaping is really analogous to cooking in stainless, but it just seems to stand to reason -- stainless, high heat, liquids, flavors... *shrug*

I'm very happy because I just got my quartz kit, so I get to finally taste this excellent Pineapple Express in a kayfun... can't wait!!!

Alright, I'm going to rebuild it at 1.5 with 28 guage and go from there, with LOW watts, did I permanently fry this thing? Should I get an authentic kayfun... do they make a authentic kayfun in black? I really do like the adjustable airhole on the bottom thought. Does the kayfun have a 2 system pin on the 510 to positive deck?

Doubt you permanently fried it; they're pretty tough, and some folks do like to vape at very high power, apparently, given all these 20w and 30w monster mods. ;)

Don't know anything about authentic kayfuns, except they're way out of my budget. Not sure what the last thing means, but I do know that the clone "kayfun lite" I bought, if you loosen the center post to try and let it extend a little further, the block wiggles around and the coil goes wonky. The clone "kayfun lite plus" however, I can extend that 510 post pretty far, and the block doesn't move, so I prefer that one. that's a tobeco kayfun lite plus, with the 2mm custom airflow, and I am totally delighted with it, just an amazing piece of hardware; as someone else opined recently about kayfuns in general, definitely applies to this tobeco kfl+, it just doesn't seem possible to get a bad vape out of it, no matter how inept the coil/wick-- and mine were pretty damn inept at first. :D

Got my first authentic KFL+ today in a trade :) very pleased with it.

I have it at .9 ohms which is a little low for what I like in RTAs, so I'm gonna rebuild it. I prefer 1.2-1.3 ohms.

My Taifun GT on my Paps X is my daily driver, but the KFL+ compliments my XXIX nicely :). 23mm tank on a 23mm mod and 22mm on a 22mm....alllllll nice and matchy-matchy, just the way I like :)

Try using Silica on it.

I don't think it's possible to anodize stainless steel. I wonder what kind of coating they used to make it black? If it got messed up by washing it, I wonder how much the coating interacts with your juice?

But I want something I can not keep dripping to vape in bed and while driving, I really like the idea of these, perhaps I've not caught up with the learning curve.
If you want the same kind of vape as dripping without the hassle of dripping, you want a bottom-feeding mod, not a tank.

looks like I need to buy a silver mod too :)
Personally, I think a bright stainless Kayfun looks just fine on on a black mod. It's not like silver and black clash.

The Black Russian 91% isn't anodized. It has been turned 'black' by "using high-tech immersion plating” (per KEBO)! I have scrubbed it nice and proper before setting up and have also used Isp Alcohol in it's innards (also plated black) ~ nothing has come-off, nor gone dull. It's actually pretty well made.

Everytime I see one of those black ones I just about drool. But they all seem to cost a bit more than a regular stainless. :( Maybe for xmas. :D

Andria

I want the black Russian so bad but I have been spending so much money lately I am trying to stop thinking about it for now :)
