How many different ways do we need to wick our juice folks? I've been at this hobby/habit for awhile now and think I have seen every way possible to wick
e-liquid. Then suddenly, a new method/material crops up. While I recognize that some materials are preferred to others depending on who you ask, is there really any one material that is head and shoulders above the others? Are there any real true game changers? If there is, I haven't found it. For now, I am staying with silica and cotton. Europeans have been using silica for 10 years and there have been no mass human kills. Cotton hasn't been a widely used material for long but I do feel safe using cotton...a very natural product. I'm sure others are safe too, but I see no reason to venture beyond what I feel comfortable with. At least not until there is some ground breaking new wicking method that takes the vape world by storm. Just my opinion and worth what you paid for it.
Speaking for myself (who else?), I have only vaped wicks of SS mesh*, silica, organic cotton, KGD cotton, and whatever it is they put in those cig-a-like cartos. Of the those, I like SS Mesh* and the cottons best for flavor. I never liked the taste of silica wicks, though you can't beat them for durabilty -
well, SS cable probably would. To me, cotton was a game changer.
I really like KGD over drug store cotton if only for its lack of a (brief) break in period, but mostly for its convenience in consistency.
However, I have bookmarked, though not purchased, the Sally's rayon stuff. I feel it will be as convenient (or better) in wicking coils, and possibly longer lasting than cotton.
One thing I do know is that I am enjoying a variety of coils on a variety of attys on a variety of devices (not 33Hz) at a variety of wattages. I am also enjoying the search for the least flavored wick in combination with the most convenience in wicking - plus durability.
I think I'm going to try some of this rayon "CelluCotton". Should I wait until my 59 pads of KGD are gone? Nah, these ECF folks will likely come up with something even better before that happens. I'm enjoying the journey.
Is this latest wicking material ground breaking? Probably not for me. But I am enjoying the road that the ECF pioneers are blazing for the rest of us.
* I never tried SS mesh in a Kayfun
I skipped over ceramic and hemp because I see only inconvenience in preparation for vaping.
