I've just finished my first build and the tank is almost empty, which has led to a few questions:
How often do you change the cotton wick and dry burn it? (every how many tanks at 4.5ml per tank)
How often do you clean it out? I would guess the same time that you change the wick?
Can you change flavors by just rinsing the cotton with purified water?
Can you top it off if it's say, half empty, by turning it upside down and filling from bottom? Or top off from top and keep the air hole covered?
1. Depends. If I'm using the same liquid, I'll usually go a few tanks before I change the wick. But my recent ADV has been a pretty dark juice, so I've been changing that after every 2 tanks.
2. When I change the wick.
3. Probably, but wicks soaked with water will give you several good hits of hot water vapor. Not the worst thing ever, but not particularly pleasant either.
4. I do it all the time, using the bottom fill port. I don't like the top-fill method anyway, and I'd imagine it would be quite the trick to do it with liquid still in the tank!
I've been told that laying horizontal the fluid level should be no more than half. Over that and the vacuum/siphone doesn't work. So I drained off the access, its been working a good half hour more than I've gone so far. Hope that's all it was, fingers crossed

.
I usually fill mine so the liquid is half to 3/4 full when laying horizontally, and I don't have any problems. You need
some air for the vacuum to work right, but not a bunch.
Two more questions on my kayfun came up:
How do you change the wick mid tank without leaking? I think I've just wicked one that isn't down far enough to the channels, so it's not wicking properly. I don't want to waste the juice.
If one wants to use the steel instead of pyrex section so that it's all steel, is the only way to fill from the top? Or am I missing something?
Thanks! You've all been really helpful.
1. I don't think you can. As soon as you unscrew the tank, it releases the vacuum and juice will come out of the nearest exit. You can stick a syringe or an empty needle-tip bottle into the fill port and suck out the juice though. I've done it a couple times. IMHO, if there's one drawback to the Kayfun it's that the juice doesn't stay in when you unscrew the base (like a ProTank.) Not
usually an issue, but it's annoying when you have to do it.
2. No, the steel section replaces the middle (clear) section. You still fill from the bottom fill screw port; it's just impossible to see how much juice you're putting in, so you have to guess. Actually, if you use a syringe you can measure out the proper amount of juice to put in and not worry about it, but most people don't like not being able to see how much is left.
Hate the grammar nazis I'm on the net to chill and relax not get a grade not professional not getting paid if I thought anything on the internet really mattered in real life I would put at lest on period on this diatribe but I won't because somewhere in Cyberland there is a grammar nazi unable to sustain them-self in an argument but would rather focus on the almighty properly placed period comma or misspelled word maybe even a word that autocorrect corrected wrongly
Yeah if it matters or is professional I am capable of having proper grammar if not I would tell you to blame the current school system but that's not the case I just don't care and would rather make a valid point with my words not my period.
Thank u
And how is u more acceptable than a forgotten period

That picture might've been more effective if they hadn't spelled "time" wrong
