My preference is 28ga around a 2mm drill bit. It's the perfect size to match the air hole on the deck

I just gave vertical coil a shot. Thinking I must be to light on cotton as it does not wick well enough. Took it apart added more cotton (more is better) no wicking issues or spitting juice. vape a tank see if any better than a regular coil

I'd love to know the benefits of this and a pick/description of how you do a wick.

I have a blog entry on it that you can check out. Wicks perfectly even with Boba's bounty :) hope that helps

TheKiwi, did you bore your center post to 2mm? is it a big difference comparing to stock center post?

Oh no I didn't. But the hole is somewhere in between 1/16 inch and 2mm, and I found 2mm to be perfect for it

If its spitting and biting its too much cotton...

I put 8 wraps of 28 gauge Nichrome (its what the B&M had) around a 7/64ths bit and wrapped with Japanese cotton....first try gurgled and spit horribly and didnt get much vapor. I had cut the cotton the same width as the coil and wrapped....Wet and trimmed for the deck....Horrible.

Tore it all apart, cut second cotton much longer BUT 2/3rds the coil height. Went thru the tail of the top, wrapped that side all the way around on the bottom then took the other side and wrapped around the top. I thinned the cotton right where the top and botton wraps meet so as not to have a big wad of cotton, fluffed the tails, wet them down and laid them on the deck and trimmed.(forgot to take pictures though.)

Vapor is marginally thicker, flavor is stronger then a horizontal coil and the draw is lighter.

I will try to rewick this twice....Its a minor PITA.

If it can be replicated easily fine...if not I'll go back to horizontal and an easy rewick.

can you explain why 28g over 26g?
It depends on your power. If you only vape, let say at 10 watts then 26g is going to be very slow to heat unless you use less of it or lower the resistance. A 1.1 ohm coil with 26g is a good amount of wire and needs a decent amount of Power to heat up. I love 26g wire but imo, at least for my vaping stlye, I need to push about 20 watts at that resistance for it to heat quickly enough. Play around to see, if you are running higher wattages then your good, if running lower try it and see. If you do find it sluggish then try a higher resistance wire or lower the resistance of the 26g coil

First re-wick this am, coil needed to be cleaned too. I did this one a bit different, used rayon as I have been reading through that thread. I find it is easier to chain vape now, planning on sticking with this material. Rewicking for me, it is easier to trim before installing the barrel...I could press the wick down better rather than trying to push it from the top with such little space, so thank you for the tip for those of you who do it this way.

that's strange, my 2mm screw driver doesn't fit in the center post hole, that's why I want to bore it out to 2mm... hmmm

Oh as in. It IS smaller than 2mm, just slightly. So the drill bit can't actually fit inside. But I found 2mm to be the best size to maximize the airflow without having a unnecessarily wide coil. That's what I meant haha.

i ended up drilling the center post holes to 2mm, so all airholes from base to center post are 2mm now, slightly better airflow. i also redo the coil with 28g wire @ 1.6ohm on 2mm coil, used much less rayon this time, no more spitting now!!! I'm pushing 18w @ 5.6v, good warm and denser vapor, but not as much cloud as my tobh dripper though... want to thanks everyone who helped with my issues! :toast:

OK so first order with ITC, spoon licker v2 ,dirty Dutchman and winter mint. The juice is high quality and no chemical taste

Dirty Dutchman can't taste the chocolate but it's still good

My only issue is I find all the flavors weak ,even after 2 weeks steeping .

Was thinking of ordering with flavor shots, has anyone tried that with the liquids above ? Is it stronger flavor or did it ruin the juice. I really like this company but I find the flavor so weak that I'm bored after one tank

Did you drill the slot/hole in the center post too?
