What size are your micro coils to fit your ekowool? Also what size ekowool?

I have been having great success with ribbon wire set up like micro coil at 1.9ohm in that i'm using cotton from a simple cotton ball. Think I would de able to snake 1-1.5 eko. Been using 2-3 eko with the figure 8 so far works great as well.

how often do you guys change your wicks/coils? after about a couple days of heavy use, the vape flavor started to get really bad. cooked, burnt. i opened up the KL and it was all black. im sure my crappy n00b first builds were part of it.

so i ask, if the wick/coil is perfect, how long will that last before vape quality is affected? its time-consuming to change coils frequently when you find out its not wicking correctly.

i switched back to my did genesis bc i was spending less time vaping =x

still love you KL but you can be such a PITA

What I do might be a little something different than anyone else here. But. I pull out the wick. Rinse and dry, dry burn, rinse and dry, then re wick with a NEW wick using a 26g wire hook. Then prime and done. Should take like 10 mins.

I think the biggest determining factor is your juice. My wife went through almost 200ml on same microcoil and cotton wick before I changed the wick. That's with diy peach 70/30 pg juice.

Wick every 3-4 days. Coil less often, and so far only because I was trying to find a good balance of resistance, lag, flavor, etc. If I don't pull it to try something new, my current coil could probably last for weeks.

Like Mrrickyyap, I pull the wick out leaving the coil mounted and dry burn the coil. But I don't re-use the wick just pull a new one through.

Using a micro and cotton, I get about a week with the wick and a few weeks with the coil. As others mentioned, I simply pull the old wick out, dry burn the coil to get the gunk off, and then install a new cotton wick. Takes about 5 minutes if I'm only changing the wick, quite a few more if I'm rebuilding the coil (because I'm a perfectionist).

I debated posting this as I fear I'm the only one, but has anyone ever had the fill screw head strip on them.

I can still fill the tank using the "other" method until I bore out the screw, but yea that sucked!

That sure suck big time... but how could u do it?

with the micro coil and cotton, im like most above, I pull out old cotton wick, dry burn coil, then slide in a new cotton wick. my coil is 26g so its good for a long time, its been in for about 3 weeks now and probably will last for another month without doing nothing but dry burning every 3 days, that's when I change the wick, about every 3 days

Anyone here wrap a sub ohm coil on the KFL? I did a 3/4 28g wrap on a 2 loop 2mm ekowool = 0.6ohms. Getting a slight burning taste but I just filled it. I'm thinking maybethe KFL can't wick fast enough? I read on another forum that the KFL handles a 0.6 coil just fine. I'll let it sit for a bit and see if it gets better. Might just go back to a 1ohm micro coil!

I use a micro coil and cotton. I use 26g wire with 8 wraps for a resistance of .65Ω and it wicks really well, no problems at all.

The tails are right at the base of the channels. The tails aren't bunched up at all; I cut them perfectly even so when I push them down they just touch the base. I didn't take a side shot of the coil before I wick'd it, but I gauged it by sticking the standard end of an eyeglass screwdriver under it.

Btw, I'm certain it was your vid I watched to grasp the idea behind the micro/cotton build.

micro coil on the kayfun lite - YouTube

that would be me, thanks. my tails go down to the base and a tad more, they don't touch the base then go along it all the length of the bottom. I would say they touch the base then make a slight bend then go along the bottom about 1/8 in. so they are slightly longer then just touching the base.

I've tried the coils very close to the airhole and didn't like it. It made the draw stuffy and got some harshness.

I like my klite micro coils above the screwheads like jaynole. No interference with airflow and great flavor.

What gauge wire are you using? Can't quite make out the coils. In the first pic it looks like some overlapping coils. I'm gonna guess it's 32 kanthal at 1.5 ohms.

I thought the same, the coil does look a little funky, like you said some wraps looks like they are overlapped, but then it may just be the photo. kind of looks like there is cotton coming up through the wraps or something. definatly don't want overlapping coils if they are

I have a tap (mini) that can be used to remove screws IF it will grab it. I notice they, the KL, come with 3 extra screws, so it has me wondering if this was anticipated.

Still doesn't sway my opinion of the Kayfun. I may even grab another, but stay tuned for the fix :D
