I thought the same, the coil does look a little funky, like you said some wraps looks like they are overlapped, but then it may just be the photo. kind of looks like there is cotton coming up through the wraps or something. definatly don't want overlapping coils if they are

I tore the wick down again, and I had another look at the coil. No overlaps that I can tell, but this is to the naked eye. Raised the coil up a bit, and seems to be performing on par with the previous setup of the coil; although, I feel there was a bit more vapor with the coil sitting slightly above the air hole. This thing plumes regardless, so it may be my imagination.

Before I swap juices again, I will roll another coil/wick under this...

I have a tap (mini) that can be used to remove screws IF it will grab it. I notice they, the KL, come with 3 extra screws, so it has me wondering if this was anticipated.

Still doesn't sway my opinion of the Kayfun. I may even grab another, but stay tuned for the fix :D

Update: I was able to get the screw out. Opened up the notches on the screw head a tad, and used a larger phillips driver, held the deck, and quickly torqued the screw..

..WALA.

Switched the screw out with one of the spares, and didn't snug this one so much. :D

Do you even know how stoked that makes me? Of course you do!

Tore down that coil tonight, and yes, I had a spot overlapping.

Built a new coil..

Has anyone tried the term c with the kayfun conversion kit? Which would you prefer?

I have both and they each have their plusses. If you already have a Term C the conversion kit in my view is a no brainer. It works just like the kayfun with the added benefit of juice flow control and air control. For some reason I find this combo works slightly better than the Kayfun Lite, with less issues with wicking probably due to the juice control....

However if you don't have a term C the Kayfun Lite is a good choice as it works out to around the same price as the Term C and conversion kit combo. I also prefer the appearance of the Kayfun, but that's a personal thing. Once you master the build of the Kayfun it performs flawlessly.

FYI I'm using microcoils and cotton in both mine. Also the list for the conversion kit is quite long and seems to have stalled out as I'm at #168 and to my knowledge #163 shipped out a couple of weeks or more ago. There may be a long wait for the kit and the Lite seems to be fairly easy to get as long as you're monitoring the various sellers regularly.

I actually have 2 term c with the kayfun kit. 1 of them has a gg base, the other has the 510. I also have a kayfun lite that im still working on finding the perfect setup. I have the opportunity to trade 1 of my term c with the kit for a kfl, but im on the fence about it.

Btw. With the 510 base, how do you use the air control? With the gg base, you just turn the ring. With the 510, it doesn't look like you adjust the air, just the juice

The conversion kit has a small screw you access through the end of the bottom post to adjust the air flow. I find I use mine with the screw fully turned out.

The other benefit of the Kayfun is that you can flush mount it as the airhole is on the side. I have a Poldiac and prefer using the Kayfun with that as I can run it without a gap for airflow....

I don't know anything about the Term C kit. I don't have one. But as far as the Kayfun Lite, there is no air flow adjustment. That's one of the differences between the KfL and the Kayfun 3.1. The more expensive 3.1 has an air flow adjustment. You can, however, change the air flow slightly by using different bore drip tips. Personally, I like a little larger bore than the stock KfL tips.

i havent touched my gennies since i got my KFL a month ago and, i loved a good genesis vape, couldn't beat it! but the kayfun style atomizer is 99% as good imho. plus the bonus of no LEAKING ;)

Just got new one off Calivaper's classifieds. Did my first build and had the coil using a single strand 3mm Eckowool / 30g Kanthal 2/3 wrap sit perpendicular to the screws but right on top of the center air hole which seemed to make the draw too tight. I did another one making sure the coil had enough space to not block the center air hole which made the draw better. Also after watching Todd's You tube video I had the ends of the wick sit on top of the channels making sure not to pack the wick into the top of channel openings and just to have them sit there. I guess I'm used to rda's airier draw. Also I notice the flavor wasn't as pronounced as a rda. My first build was a single coil @ .5ohms, the 2nd one read at .9ohms. I also thought the thinner channel on the included drop tip contributed to the tight draw so I put on a wide mouth drip tip which seems to help.
Can anyone give me some insight to this?

I've experimented with these things a lot. Although I haven't tried a single 3mm wick yet. I have been planning to. I just haven't got around to it yet. I've done several configurations of 2mm silica and ekowool wicks, including the Figure 8, the S or Bow Tie, etc. While I have made some acceptable builds with all of the above, my conclusion is this: The best build, IMO, is the micro coil/cotton set up. I almost hate to say it; because I have lots of silica and ekowool around. But the truth is, for me, the cotton build is superior. Plus, once the coil is built properly, it will last for many wick changes. Just pull out the cotton, when you need to change wicks, clean up the coil, if necessary, and pull a new piece of cotton through.
As for the tips, I've found that I like a larger bore tip than the stock KfL tip. Actually, my current favorites are the old "barrel" tips, that used to come with the first DID alikes.

I pulled my KF apart to clean and dry fire. Been on the same wick and coil for a week. The o-ring "4c" in picture popped out when I removed the top of the chimney and was swelled so bad that I can not get it back in place in the groove. (I use a cinnamon red hots based juice but this type of thing hasn't happened before).

Where can I get replacement o-rings? The KFL is rendered useless without this o-ring.
