Like a super ropey taste? Because what I get from silica is very mild if anything, and goes away quickly. I couldn't stand to vape a half ml or so and I am not usually one of those people who is sensitive to new vaping stuff. Can you tell me exactly which brand of cotton or where you got them from, or if you have used multiple brands and they have all worked? Because I can see this taste being naturally part of the cotton, I just think with the brand I have, it may be way stronger because of less then perfect processing or something. Thanks and sorry.

I agree with Waho, it leaves a bit of odour initially but fades away pretty quickly - either my innards get used to it or it truly dies. Either way a non-issue with me, b'coz the ease of replacement is what entices me. I'm using this and it's serving me well...

I've been using top care (generic Spartan store brand in Michigan) sterile cotton balls. It's what I've had in my house so it's the only kind I've used.

I'd describe the taste as kind of like licking a clean cotton T-shirt. Certainly not over powering.

100% cotton is 100% cotton - it doesn't matter in what form or where it was bought. So long as it says "100% cotton" (ie, doesn't contain latex or other unvapeable nastiness) it's all going to be the same.

Boiling can help get rid of some of the "cottony" taste, if you don't mind making cotton soup. Ultimately though it may be that there are some people who just can't stand cotton.

    There's cotton in it :)
qorax... I love your mod out on the town, and at the beach pix. I have been rocking my LITE on a JM22 18350 tube, rampage switch set. Grenada fluid for the past week. The Protank coil seal, has corrected the upper o-ring leak from Grenada. Here are a few pictures of my monday buddy.

Yes my 3 LITES, all have micro coils and cotton wicks.

Well, just managed to set up my first successful micro coil on the KFL.

Tried cotton last week when I first got it, worked great for 1/2 a tank, then started to taste a bit burnt. I managed to choke up the juice channels  - but while it was working it was amazing.

So today, thought I'd give some ekowool a try instead. Set up a perfect micro coil with 30 kanthal, single strand of 2mm ekowool. Came out at 1.4 ohms. Already vaped over a tank of DIY strawberry cream. This is amazing, I'm in love, or maybe it's just the nic hit

    Hi Qorax!

I haven't tried this yet on my kayfuns, but I'm using an ekowick microcoil on another atomizer right now and it's terrific. What I did was wrap a 28ga 9 wrap microcoil around a 1/8" drill bit and threaded 1mm eko through it. It's tricky, but can be done. I torched the ekowool at the cut point, then carefully cut at a 45 degree angle, then torched the tip again. This stiffened it up and allowed me to clearly see that there were no stray fibers. Then I carefully threaded it. The trick is to make sure nothing snags on any of the coils as it goes in, as soon as I see it on the other side, I grab it with tweezers and pull the rest through. Then I kind of bunch it up from each side, pressing each end toward the coil. This expands the ekowool to completely fill the inner diameter of the coil. Now I can dry burn both the coil and wick when needed. It also seems to hold a bit more juice than just cotton. I'll try it on a kayfun the next time I'm in need of a wick change and let you know how it goes!

Wonderful! I'd love to see your pictorial here. Meanwhile, thanks for those tips -- I'd try your method in my other K-lite today. Luv ya!
