I posted pix of my 1st micro coil build in this thread. It is still rocking, perfect!! My second LITE & micro coil build was the same, little lower ohm, 30g kenthal. It tasted burnt & i was just not happy with its performance. I know my coil is good, i let it sit a few days. I picked it up tonight, gave a few hits with out power on my mech. Then hit the button and its PERFECT. So the only thing i can say about micro coils + cotton.. They need to be wet & primed to get going and stay working. I am liking both the micro coiled LITES i have set up. I have a 3rd LITE still sitting in the box... was thinking of selling it, just not sure what will become of it yet. I am trying to keep every thing down to a limit of 2. I also have the extension tube sitting with the 3rd LITE. Was thinking of making a 3rd long LITE, just no time yet. So far the micro coils are a + for me.

Yep, the longer you let a cotton wick sit, before vaping it, the better it will be. It takes time for the cotton to completely saturate. The best set ups I built for my K Lites, are when I've let them sit over nite.
If the cotton wick was rolled too tight then its choking off juice supply to the coil, of course its gonna hit good if it sits for a day or two, but by the time it burns off the saturation it will revert back to being choked especially after the cottons swelled up.
Just my experience and 2 cents but Ive found the best cotton wicks to be lightly rolled and easily pulled through the coil.
Even though it may seem too small, as long as the coil is loosely packed and you have cotton to coil contact, this is one of those situations where less is better.
If you have the coil tightly stuffed theres too much fibers to keep the inner coil saturated and wicking well, with the coil loosely filled - capillary action kicks in faster and you have more juice in the coil , not more cotton.
I also never let mine sit to soak, just a few primer drops and then vape away. On my kayfun converted term c I forgot to prime on my last build, just did a couple dry pulls and vaped away, no problems or dry hits, I change wicks after about a week and they are still in good shape.

Another factor is the distance of the coils to the airhole. I like the coil to be above screws so that there's plenty of room for airflow.

good advise on the k-lite, since I have received mine I haven't topped it off yet. I vape it almost to the end and like rule mentioned I also syringe out till dry, then usually change the wick, then refill. I have not had any issues at all with equalization yet.
You change the wick after every tank?

I have been trying to figure why some are having the dry hit issues and just cant figure a reason other then what has been stated. i have taken a closer look at the things i have been doing and just want to re hash them. my length of cotton just before installing is exactly 1 inch in lenght, now this length i know is perfect, i have done most likely 30 coils on this device and all but one(which was an experiment type coil) worked with no issues at all. as long as this length is equal on both sides of the coil and comes down the sides and then makes a slight bend across the very bottom it will be correct. the tails in my set ups dont just go straight down the sides, these tails do come across the bottom slightly, probably half the distance of the lower deck. now the only issue is the thickness and density of the cotton. what has been working for me is a finished wick sliding through the coil with minimal resistance, if your pulling the wick through the coil and this makes the cotton bunch up as you are pulling it, its to thick. also if your pulling it through and its not touching the sides of the coil, is to thin. the next thing is the density of the cotton, i take a section of cotton and start to roll it between my fingers, i get it nice and even through out the inch section of wick, the density is even through out this length. also i do compress it quite a bit, its not as dense as i can get it, but its pretty dense, but still has a fluffiness to it. another thing that i do with my fun is i vape it nearly vertical. many of you probably do the same, but to me its kind of odd because i am so used to my genesis devices. i don't know if by tilting the kayfun it can dry out one side of the device. another reason is maybe the juice, maybe really thick juices don't work well with this set-up. most of my juices are like 50/50. i have yet to use a syrupy type juice with the cotton set-up. and lastly, i suppose if the wick tails are blocking the little groove then there could be issues. my tails run across the lower deck and as they swell i don't believe they reach these grooves.
