BTW, I have gone over 1 ohm on the KFL (as high as 1.7 even) on my mechs and gotten similar "it's not feeding right" results....maybe I just chain-vape too much. :)

I dunno. I like higher wattages too, on mechanicals, with mesh gennys. I think the 'heat sink' effect of the ss mesh requires the high watts. On the vacuum devices, with micro coils, I haven't felt the need to go sub ohm. IMO, about 1.2 ohm, with micro/cotton provides a similar result as 0.8 on a mesh/genesis.

I'm going to aim for about 1.2 ohms on Yeti' Kayfun and see how it goes.

Is it a needed item for the kayfun?

It's a really good idea to have a way to check your coils before you fire 'em when you're rebuilding (you don't want to be firing a shorted coil, especially on a mech)....so, yes it is a needed item if you don't have a multimeter or a VV device that can check resistance.

Gotta head out for awhile so I'll pick it up later today. But one thing is certain, your Kayfun is fine. That was the first thing we wanted to verify. Now let's see about getting it coiled up. Between what I do and the help of some of the subohm geeks on this thread we'll get it figgered out. The KFL is an awesome device and you need to experience it.

I don't want to speak for Divrr, however, bear in mind that he uses 26g wire on his sub ohm kayfun builds. This will result in a cooler vape than using 30g, at the same resistance, because the response time will be slower with the thicker wire.

Yes Rule, I am aware of that. Unfortunately, I have nothing thicker than 30ga. That said, I just did a 6-wrap, 30ga, 2mm ID microcoil. She glows up very nicely. It toggles between 1.1 and 1.2 ohms. Gotta run for awhile but I'll throw a wick in it and let her rip.

Thanks Rule.

Thank you Yeti ;) I got one.... So I seen the video on YouTube on how to build the micro coil, the guy uses a blunt tip surenge needle and does a 9 wrap 26g Kanthal then connects to ends fires it up and compresses the coils while they are red but not active, then took a little cotton from a ball and rolled it tight and slide it through, cut at bottom near feeder and BOOM!!! Done... Is this correct?

Before I finish my first build I want to get approval from the experts here. Coming in at 1.7ohm. This gonna work?

I trimmed the leads. Too much wick huh? Dang, should have waited for responses.

Pic of the wicks.

Yea, that looks like a ton of wick! Trim your wicks even with the top of the chimney base that you have screwed on. Then stuff them back down in front if the juice channels.

Not the bottom fill hole, the side fill.

The side hole is the air hole. If you're getting juice outta there, you're either flooding the chamber, or have an air leak..

The hole on the side is the air hole, not the fill hole. The bottom hole with the screw if the fill hole. Are you trying to fill from the side?

I think I got it. Took everything apart, trimmed wick, and we are good now. First try on the KFL here, it will get better.

Guess I better go to Walgreens and get some cotton. I didn't have a drill bit so I could do a micro. Soon, very soon.
