Lower the coil closer to the air hole? Seems the general consensus is no more than 2mm gap.

YOU NAILED IT. thank you for responding.sip vs gulp, sub ohm clouds are like chugging the vape, lower power is like sipping the vape, nothing wrong with sipping and some may enjoy that more, def more stealthy
if your vape is too hot then you need more airflow. even at .27 ohms the vape shouldn't be hot, it should be a huge gulp but not hot. kayfun will never really ever do very high power well, the airflow is the limitation
The biggest problem with 28ga on the provari is it takes too long to heat up at the wattage I prefer. 30 ga is much more responsive. yes, at the same resistance. I'm going to shoot for 0.7 - 0.8 ohms on the mech using 28 ga. I'll probably have to go down to 1.5mm ID and 8 wraps. Just guessing.
that's so cool! whats up? so your waiting on a mech?
Hey all you Kayfuners, have a question for ya. I've been using my first and only KFL+ for about 5 days now, my first coil build was a 1.2 ohm 28ga micro on cotton and worked perfectly, my second build was a 1.8 ohm built with cotton as well, and again worked perfectly with my mainstay Bobas Bounty, a pretty thick VG liquid...I'm now on my 3rd build, a .825ohm regular coil on 2.5mm silica wick, and once again wicks perfectly and produces lots of vapor, the flavor however is very disappointing, my Aspire Vivi Nova dual coil produces better flavor than this KFL on my Nemesis Matte (not a clone)...any flavor inhancement suggestions would be appreciated. Kinda bummed about this.
After much testing with my mechs I'd suggest 5/64" ID if you're going to go for .8ohms. Less chance of burnt taste. I've found that 1-1.2ohms works the best at that ID size on the Kayfuns when running straight mechanical as you'll be hitting roughly 12 watts with a fully charged battery.
OK fellas, tell me if this one passes muster, 1.5mm 28 gauge 9/10, 1.5mm off the duct measures out at 1.2 on the button. I changed the liquid to Halo Tribeca 24mg, burned out on the bobas. So far so good, tons of vapor and the flavor seems there and will probably get better with use thanks for all the suggestions, much appreciated.

Just rewicked my 5/64" ID 10 wrap of 28awg coil (1.5ohms) with less cotton than before and I'm finally being abke to hit it at 15 watts without signs of a dry hit! Flavor is through the roof once more!
Oh and I sanded down the set screw on my KFL+ by 2mm +/- and I can finally use the screw and keep it as airy as the non+ KFL. I can also open it up further a bit and make it tighter. SM should've made their screws shorter for sure!

Thank you for this. I decided to hold off on my rebuild and just re-wicked with even less cotton than I was already using. I also cut the tails shorter, so that they are not crowding the deck area. I've got it set at 10W for now, and will give it one more shot.. but that's it.
Edit: Would it be too much trouble to ask you to post a picture of your coil/wick in the chimney section? Please..![]()
