I usually ruin mine right off the bat, when I'm trying to compress it, and some wraps end up overlapping...

Try pressing softer. Your not compressing them in place as much as moving them in to place while hot. Usually I just hold them firmly (but not to firm) in place with needle nose pliers and then torch them while in the pliers. If you heat them up where you want them and let it cool down still in that position, they will stay. Not much pressure needed at all.

I do this to some extent, bearing in mind that I don't have a torch, I have a lighter; however, I'm a little bit leery of applying too much flame, because once I apparently applied so much that the wire just broke. Of course, that was 32ga, and I use 30ga with the KFL+, so maybe not as much of an issue. That 32ga is so fine, it gets brittle very quickly.

But since I do use 30ga with the kayfun, I may try a little more flame using the needle-nose to hold it *gently* while I flame it, and maybe not need to work so hard at compressing it after it's mounted.

I also informed my husband last night that what I *really* need are some ceramic-tipped tweezers, so I can hold it *while* I press the fire button; they're kinda pricey at $14-ish, but I'm thinking entirely worth it. Especially when I start working more with the 28ga I just got, because that wire is thick enough to be really stubborn, so pressure while firing would be really useful.

Thx!

Patience of a SAINT??? HAH!!!!!!!! I doubt I have the patience of a FLEA!

I do have small fingers, however doing these coils means I've had to start keeping my nails cut short, which I really hate, but when my nails are long, I can't pick up ANYTHING! Especially not things as tiny as all this junk!

What I hate the absolute MOST is when I drop some tiny part off the counter... because I am blind as a bat. I start screaming profanities at the top of my voice, my husband runs in wondering who's killing me, and ends up looking for the bit for me, because I JUST CAN'T SEE IT!

I must be the opposite, I use my nails like built in tweezers. Can't do anything with them short!

I'm glad it was me and not you who lost the airflow control screw in the grass the other day!!! :D

It's gone forever. :( But I didn't scream! :)

Update!! Got it working great after messing with it. It was leaking with the new nano gaskets, so I put the ones that came with it back in and the leaking stopped. I couldn't get the air flow right adjusting the screw so I removed it completely. Currently using on a Silver Bullet with a kick, tastes fantastic and I don't even like mango juice that much. Thanks for all the help.

I've heard people removing the air flow screw altogether. Glad to hear you're making progress.

ROFL! I'm glad it wasn't me, too, or I'd have been beside myself!

I use my nails like tweezers too, like if I'm rebuilding the coil on a T3S, I use my nails to pull the pin and insulator out. But, my long nails have been a point of pride -- vanity! -- for many years, and at my age (53 tomorrow, but considering 39 yrs as a smoker, I look 10 yrs older!), I don't have many points of vanity left. But, with long nails, I can't pick up very small items with any degree of adeptness; I tend to drop them, they go off the counter, and there I am, screaming in frustration because I'm both clumsy and blind.

So I guess it's time to cut them again. I cut them about 3 wks ago, but they grow like mad, and last night's clumsiness confirmed that it's time for another nail trimming. To me, "long" means there is between a quarter-inch and a half-inch of white showing; short means between 1/8 and 1/4 inch -- still plenty of nail there, just not so long that they keep me from being to grab things with my fingertips.

I'm just tickled that my right index-finger nail actually *is* white again, instead of dark dirty yellow. :D :thumb:

Is torching coils a popular thing?

I use to torch mesh for oxidation in my genesis days but with Kayfuns, I wrap, attach, and just heat on a mod - usually my ProVari - then tweeze while it cools. Do that a couple of times and voila ... a great coil. Not sure what the torching would do?

I do it the same way Dragon. It seems the simplest way to do it. But like everything else in vaping...to each their own.

Thoughts on my first Kayfun build. Just built my first coil for the Kayfun Lite Plus today, which was surprisingly easy. I'm still trying to decide if I like it. I found that if I try to tighten up the draw, it leaks (I prefer the small air hole on the Nautilus). There's no gurgle or whistle, but there isn't much taste either. I used sterile cotton balls, 28g on a 3/32 drill bit to get 1.6 ohms for my ProVari. I haven't read through all 1000+ pages on this thread, but I'd love to hear any suggestions or tips on using the Kayfun Lite Plus. I've watched all the Youtube videos, btw, and found them quite informative, but I can't rave about it yet.

The leaking is a concern. Your KFL should not leak a molecule. Check to be sure all your orings are present and in good working order. Next, be sure all connections are snug.

Where is it leaking from? Is it a genuine Svoemesto KFL?

Thanks for the reply. It's not leaking now. It only leaked when I tried to adjust the air flow screw on the bottom to tighten up the draw. I'm not quite sure how the air flow screw is supposed to work, but I now have it so that there isn't any leak, but the draw is a bit too airy for me. Next time I take it apart, I'll check the orings. Yes, it is a genuine Svoemesto KFL plus (second batch), and it seemed to be leaking at the bottom. I guess I expected much more flavor, but I'll give it some time. If you have any tips on how to use the air flow screw, I'd appreciate it. Thanks
