What guage wire and drill bit did you use? I have a hard tim getting that much cotton thru the coils without it turning packed solid and stop wicking. I am having good like with Rayon.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but isn't the setscrew on the bottom of the tank used for airflow?

One trick I learned is if you feel your wrick drying up/burning is to cover the airhole and draw, it helps the wicking, but I think it would be better to tighten the draw (set screw counter clock-wise)?

I'm using Rayon (Cellucotton) as well in those pics. Its a 12 wrap around a 1/16 bit with 28g. I more often use a 5/64 bit with 10 wraps

Well the cotton wicked Trobeco finally gave up and started giving the burnt cotton taste after the 4 hr mark. The Ephro I rayon built with a cullumation of everything I've learned and a slightly bigger diameter micro coil made it thru the night and still tastes good. It has an adjustable airflow screw (I think) on the bottom, I assume counterclockwise is more airflow. On the Trobeco that feature is an allen hed screw. Man I've wasted a lot of fluid learning how to build these things. I'm not sure I'll be a convert away from the expensive to recoil aerotanks, they're just too convenient in comparison.

I'm starting to agree... Though I like my drippers the best. Tanks are cool for on the go.

a friend of mine asked this me this last night...

she bought a kayfun lite + v2. she previously used a kanger aerotank with 18mg of nicotine juice. with the kayfun, the juice was too much -- headaches, unpleasant feeling. so she wants to step down. what would be the recommended equivalent of 18mg? obviously it's all subjective, but what's the rule of thumb? 1/2 dosage?

whats been your experience guys? thanks.

perhaps ordering a bottle of 0 nic of the same flavor and testing out different nicotine ratios might help her decide? mixing them until she can find her sweet spot.

personally I tried to lower my nic levels but went back to 18mg, I do enjoy lower nicotine as well, but my favorite still is 18.

I started at 24 and am down to 12.
I do the step down the way I was advised- May not be the best I dunno.
Going from 12-18 was easy. I stepped down by two every month. When I got to 18 I tried to go to 16 the next month and I could get the damn PV out of my mouth. The thing was a pacifier and I has headaches. Went to the shop and was told that when I start to feel like it's too much keep it going for another few weeks and then step down. So that's what I do. Now I'm ready to go another step down. I'm waiting toll July though.
And to get the intermittent steps I either her some 0 nic unflavored juice and stretch it to get it right; or go to one of the local shops and have them make it to my nic level.

If you are using cotton and you are getting burnt flavor, it is likely one of two problems (or both). 1) You're wick is too fat, and/or, 2) your wick is not sitting on the deck correctly.

With regard to the first, the most common mistake is people using a cotton wick that is too wide. They stuff it in their microcoil (you do make microcoils, right?) and pinch off the wicking action. You need only enough cotton so it easily slides back and forth through your microcoil with just light resistance. With regard to the second, trim your overall wick length to be equivalent to your overall KFL width (aprox 23 mm's). Wet the ends with juice and paste them to the sides of your deck. Do not stuff the wick IN the juice channels. Simply lay them on the top of them. If you stuff them in you will choke off the juice flow.

Good luck Spunky. :)

This was it with the little micro-coil I was literally packing the cotton inside it. It was so tight it couldn't wick. Wow the flavor on this ephro kaylite is amazing. Thanks for your help.

Whats the best way to break in a Kayfun and clean it off machine oils? I just have 2 KFL's, both are clones purchased off eBay. My first one, I tried cleaning it a few times and everytime I vaped it, it had a weird taste to it and didn't hit very well. I wasn't pleased so I just rarely used it. I gave it to my friend to mess with and he gave it back to me hitting very nice and no weird taste. After that, all my rebuild attempts on it were good and I had no problems. I just bought a new KFL and I am having similar issues as the first one. Not sure why it's so different?? Or what I can do to make it performing like the other one is now?

Ah, common issue with clones, at least in my experience. Something that I do for aaaall my new attys and works like a charm

1) fully disassemble every. Single. Component.

2) put all o rings and plastic parts aside

3) soak all other parts in newly boiled water + a ton of dawn dishwashing soap for 15 mins

4) at the end of this first soak, use a qtip and use it to scrub all the surfaces and the center post channel inside the atty

5) rinse off, and repeat soak as in part 3

6) at end of soak, rinse and it's ready

Works for me everytime :) hope that helps!

ETA: I handwash all the plastic or rubber components by hand with warm water and dawn.

If you have soft tap water use bottled water to soak your gear, the dawn will never go away with soft water. It'll look like me bubble (Experience).

Ah, no clue if the water in durham is hard or soft tbh. Thankfully I never had to fuss over it. Wub

You can tell by making an ice cube from the water then drop it, if it bounces it's soft, if it breaks it's hard.
