Bah. Coil it, wick it with rayon, fill it, vape it. Be happy. The KFL+ is the best atty by far in my house. I got mine as soon as the 2nd batch came out, and am still on the factory o-rings.

The coils arnt the problem for most people it's the damn wicking... I swear if I don't get it just right I end up with dry hits after 3 or 4 pulls on a Kayfun/Russian.... I'm thinking I need to use less wraps or make my coil a smaller diameter instead of 2.4mm maybe 1.5mm I had no issues with wicking when I used smaller coils

I would agree about reducing your diameter. Imo 2.4 is a little big. I think why, is because of the amount of tail it gives. After many many coils in the kayfun, I seem to like 1.8mm. This diameter for me has been the most consistent.

ive now seen 2 videos on youtube for the kayfun lite plus second batch that have the same VA dist in usa markings on the bottom, just like my pic, my guess is mine is def real, thx for the helpView attachment 351135

Another tip- don't torch or heat the metal at all before you wrap the coil. I made that mistake and went through 25 ft of kanthan before I figured it out.
Wrap it the best you can then mount it. Then remove the wrapping tool and grab your players. Heat it till it's red and leave it red for 5-6 seconds then as soon as you remover the fire button squeeze it together and hold it while it cools. Repeat that process 3 or 4 times. Makes a good tight coil. I noticed too I her better results wetting the wick and trimming it one more time to make sure it's on the floor of the decl, then reassemble

Tony, just out of curiousity, why did you think it was a mistake to heat and press your coil before mount? Honestly, I have done it both ways and have never seen a difference. Sometimes I will not pre heat wire at all, I will then make my micro coil (which I do fairly tight to begin with). I will then mount, fire, and squeeze, this comes out great. Also sometimes I will pre heat wire, make my coil, heat and squeeze then mount. After I mount, I will re heat and squeeze again. In the end the, the only difference I can tell is the coil that was heated and squeezed before mount, is a little tighter coil.

Everytime I torched the wire- especially 30g and 32g it lost its malleability and it wouldn't pull itself tight. If you're not wrapping a tight coil it would work but me being the OCD person I am, I want my coils as tight as possible.
Once it's wrapped pulling it in and holding it with needle nose then torching works fine. But I've found with newer less experienced builders they get better results mounting it then heating it and pulling it in tight. Not to mention if they check resistance before torching or tightening it, it's easier to take a wrap out or add one.

I've just found for beginners - thinner gauge wire is easier to works with, before being torched.

I suppose that's the case, but honestly It's been a super long time since I have used 30 gauge I couldn't really say. Like if I'm doing a 10 wrapper, I make almost 20 , I then pull on the leads with a pliers(while the coil is still on bit) and pull hard to Un ravel the wraps that didn't come out tight to begin with. Usually the middle wraps initially come out nice and tight, it's the first few and last few that aren't to good. I just get rid of those completely by unraveling. After this, the coil is as tight as it can get really. But it's just what you get used to, in the end, it's all the same.

I have heard that about certain types of screw heads. It's because they are not as flat on the underside and pop out the thicker wire when tightening. I think it shouldnt be to hard to find some flatter or better screws to hold the 28g. But if it's working good with what you got now, then it's good.

On my builds using silica I find that I like my coils spaced apart evenly as possible. Not tight ot squeezed together. I tried tight coils and something was off with the flavor. Maybe having open spaces on the wick give me more flavor. Comments???
