I suppose that's the case, but honestly It's been a super long time since I have used 30 gauge I couldn't really say. I know with 28g and thicker wires, it doesn't seem to react like that, in fact if you like tighter coils, like you, it's easier to obtain if you heat and squeeze before and after. In performance, I haven't seen any difference between a super tight coil and one that isn't as tight so doing it like in bronzes pictorial is definitely the easiest way. I However, make my coils completely tight before mounting. once like this, they can't be made any tighter by the final heat and pinch after mounting. Actually my coils aren't made tight by heating and pinching before mounting, the method that works for me, (with thicker gauges anyways) is to make about twice the intended wraps then back those wraps out. Like if I'm doing a 10 wrapper, I make almost 20 , I then pull on the leads with a pliers(while the coil is still on bit) and pull hard to Un ravel the wraps that didn't come out tight to begin with. Usually the middle wraps initially come out nice and tight, it's the first few and last few that aren't to good. I just get rid of those completely by unraveling. After this, the coil is as tight as it can get really. But it's just what you get used to, in the end, it's all the same.
