On my builds using silica I find that I like my coils spaced apart evenly as possible. Not tight ot squeezed together. I tried tight coils and something was off with the flavor. Maybe having open spaces on the wick give me more flavor. Comments???
I don't use silica but for the most part I think people that use silica space their wraps. Maybe this is so just because silica is a little harder to slide thru a micro coil. As for taste, with cotton, I have tried it both ways and fond it overall better with close wraps. As for taste between tight or loose coils with silica? Haven't compared but maybe the silica doesn't work as well in micros because of the intensity of the micro coils. Micros do tend to be a little hotter so maybe the silica doesn't wick like the cotton does

And why is my expensive genuine Svoemesto KFL's cheaper?

I happened to be sifting through my bone box and there are countless clearos, drippers, tanks, replacement heads, BCC's, etc. None of which I use anymore and never will again. That pile of crap represents my endless search for the perfect vape. That search ended when I found Kayfun last summer. Had I not found Kayfun, I would still be buying the latest and greatest contraption and, no doubt, adding to my bone box. So when you think Kayfun is expensive...think again. :)

If you wrap the leg of the coil around the screw it solves that problem with the screw heads- just sayin

Alternatively if you're a lazy azz like myself, I went ahead and bought a bunch of screws that are completely flat at the bottom

If anyone is interested, I haz a blog post for kayfun spare parts and where to get em.

Maybe... I think it does give better air flow. I have to use totally-open coils with my caterpillar, to keep the vape as cool as possible, or it just knocks me back against the wall with TH.

True. I still get that shinyitis gleam in the eye when it comes to mods, but I can honestly say I haven't even been tempted by any other tanks since I got my KFL+ clones. I'm sure the genuine is even better, and one day I hope to acquire a couple of those, but till then, I'm so amazed with my KFL+ tobeco clones, any interest in any other topper has completely vanished.

I once used a needle nose pliers to compact my coil as much as possible. after applying a few strong pinches, it was a glowing single unit, much more than with a pinch done with tweezers. but I found it next to impossible to avoid burning the cotton. I microcoil only with tweezers now.
I think this might be something I touched upon yesterday. I have never used a pliers to pinch, but sometimes I have obtained a coil so tight that it couldn't glow correctly. As most know a micro is ready to go when it lights up from the center out, but with those occasional super tight ones I mentioned, they wouldn't light up properly. It wasn't until I ever so gently opened them up, that I achieved the proper light up. I know that before a micro lights up from the center out, it is shorting, and if it is wicked at this point, it wouldn't work to good. So with your super tight, burning wick coil, did it light up correctly before you wicked it?

Wrap clockwise, that would be. Even some of them there ewe-toob experts goof that up.

i agree, the wraps should be made clockwise. i do however do a CC wrap for one specific coil. it is an angled coil in which the wick tails run across the lower deck. in this set up, i like the tails to run in the direction of the threaded chimney base so that as i tighten this base, the wick tails cannot be moved.

the coil lit up evenly but with much less of a gradient, like the usual microcoil. instead, most of the coil would glow together and then the very ends a moment later. I tried a few wicks to get it right, but gave up after inhaling burning cotton one too many times. so, in conclusion, the super micro coil is no bueno without super wicking to match.

I do the same thing, basically. I follow the first method here which involves undoing the two end wraps and CC attachment to posts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7o7RFoTtw0

My latest coil does this.. Glows evenly across most of the coils, with the outers coming in last.. Very tight coil.
