That's what I thought too.... I spent 3 straight nights trying numerous different setups on 4 different kayfuns. I get pm's and emails from others that don't want to rock the rayon boat having issues with rayon (yes I have the right rayon). It's a mute point for me good cotton works well for me and serves all my needs. I have no need or desire to fight with that perfect rayon setup

I have rayon in a mini and a GG2Kayfun conversion with good results, I will do it to a lite + directly and report back in a few minutes.

Since I have been setting up my kayfuns with walgreens organic cotton I have had ZERO dry hits. I setup using rayon after the juice used in the setup I would get dry hits till I got it wicking. It would take a good half hour of playing around till it would start wicking on its own. I would not see bubbles coming up when I vaped. Where the cotton does have air bubbles come up right from the start

I was pretty surprised I did have all the issues with rayon. Now my father in law uses a kayfun on a vision much lower voltage than I use. We are on vacation together this week and I setup his kayfun with my rayon and he has had zero dry hits.... go figure

You tell me if I need another 22mm Kayfun?

LRcEYAh.jpg

And your point is? After finding nirvana with Kayfuns, the next step is to buy junk attys, grind them with a dremel and wick them improperly? I hope not.

Tried a Confun?
Confun LE#2 - Tankerweiterung für Kayfun Lite / Lite Plus - InTaste
Confun Clear - InTaste

What about using an 1/8" drill bit for the micro coil, should make it much easier to get an even wick thru the coil, what would be the down sides. I'm not sub ohming, just trying to get a build that doesn't taste like burnt wick.

I draw very fast so also thinking am 1/8" micro would help with that?

One last comment: these post screws suck! They're not flat on the underside and the wire slides out from underneath as the screw is tightened. I found some M1.6 SS screws at McMaster-Carr to try, and think I'll also look for some tiny washers for just-in-case.

LOL lemme guess you're using a clone? All my authentics have screws that are nicely flat at the bottom, while my clones have slightly rounded bottom.

If the ones you bought don't work, I have a blogpost for kayfun spare parts with links to screws that will. I've gone on to replace all my clones' screws with em :) hope that helps

I will have to dig out my old recordings of those soon, I didn't remember the name of that one, just the rock eating thing, or tunnel maker things.

About # 2 picture, I had it wicked and wet and ready to go when I realized I forgot to "squeeze" it.
I almost just was going to just go with it, good thing I went back and did it as this one was in need of it.

The rayon in my hand is flat and the coil is 2 mm.

That's about 10 mm sticking up.
I still need to vape it awhile but so far it's good.
Oh, this is a clone, the FT one that comes with a nano kit, note that the channels had some work done to them.
0.9Ω with 28 gauge nichrome, 8 1/2 wraps on 2 mm shaft @ 20 watts.
update... it didn't work out... dry after primer vaped off.. rewicking with rayon again...works good in every thing else I have

That's the one. The creature was like cement so bones had to mix up some and patch him up. That's when he said, I'm not a brick layer.

Give it a try, it may work great for you. For me, I have found that to be a little big but haven't really tried it that much. If you do go with 1/8, you will now have a macro coil instead of micro, at least that's what I'm told.

You know what could help you in your experiments? Try getting one of those transparent plastic kits that show you whats hapening inside the chimney. It helped me a lot in seeing how the juice is filling up the chimney to know how to place my wicks.
Man I have been wanting to get one of those for a while, like you said it will show a great deal. Will check it out, thanks

I went down to as low as 16 watts on that first build and still was on the dry side.
I replaced the rayon wick with another rayon wick but a fuzz shorter, I also didn't bring the wick up through the sleeve first. I was concerned that they were twisting as I was pushing them down in there.
This build is successful....I think. LOL We'll see.

That's where I was at with rayon after the setup juice dried off it would be dry. Your juice channels are bigger than mine so thought that might have been my issue but then I see you had same issue. What I would do is primer vapes by holding my finger over air hole...then after doing that on and off for about a half hour it would start wicking and continue to wick till empty once it started wicking.

For experiment I just grabbed the kayfun I setup for father in law that works on his vision at lower voltage and put it on my dna30. Maybe 1 air bubble out of every 5 vapes comes up from the bottom. Where when I use cotton an air bubble comes up 4 out of 5 times. I never got a dry hit using his kayfun but it was already in use maybe 2/3 full
