Oh yah that looks right up my ally. I have drilled out the side hole already which adds a touch, so with this, should be great.

I'm hoping that it will make a difference on a standard KFL base. If not, I'll get a clone and take it to the drill press. I don't want to drill into either one of my KFLs.

I definitely think it will make a difference. Like I said I drilled out my authentics but unless you drill out this center pin everything is limited. Now if one only uses this without drilling the side airholes then not sure just how much it's going to change things. I really think this along with other modifications are really needed to make a much noticeable difference

+1. I'm skeptical of the structural integrity
That's why I never attempted to do it to mine because there is no room to bore it wider but opening it up lenght wise is pretty cool. I think if you don't get rough with it and don't drop it alot, it should be fine

For well over a year, my KFLs have been leak proof during their normal daily use. I put them in my coat pockets without giving it a second thought. I lay them down sideways on my couch.

The only time one of them leaked was when I was driving back to Las Vegas from San Francisco. There was a long stretch where there was a major elevation change in the mountains. I reached over to my mod cup holder and grabbed my KFL. It was leaking through the air hole and I mean it was LEAKING. Interesting note though, the GG Ithaka, which was sitting in the same holder, was just fine.

I'll try it again with the KFL. Next time, I'll turn it upside down when I encounter that particular stretch of road.

I drive a truck for living. Long haul.
And, yes, you are right. Kayfuns (big or small) Ithakas, Aquas, Foggers (big or small), Taifuns, AGA-T7, Squape, Orchid, Big Buddha, Rose V2 and Lemo all leak when the Altitude changes. The only temporary remedy I've been able to find was to either keep them upside-down or to purge the internal pressure buildup by opening a fill port briefly. That is just the nature if the beast.

Looks interesting. If you do try one I hope you say how you like it.

I definitely will report back. I'm a little worried about the the sliced-in-half threaded section can hold torque, but if airflow can increase just a little more, I think my kayfun will be perfect.

What the heck, I just ordered one.

sweet. me too.

Keeping em upside down is definitely the move. I do that when I fly with my kayfuns.

My experiement with the split tails posted earlier gove too much of a cotton flavor, but back to the normal build and all is well. I'm really getting the hang of this KLF I'm abot to take it on a 13 hr shift, which is a big gain in confidence if you've followed my follies. In some ways I enjoy the flavor more than the dripper I own, it seems to draw out the best in the flavor naturally while the drippers force it on you.
