Amen to the bandwagon....... definitely a herd mentality at times, but hey, we are all having fun, right??

I remember the first time I read about the coils touching. I looked and looked at the statement, thought about Ohm's law, and just couldn't make sense of it. Finally I put my mental foot down and thought -- this does not make sense.... there will not be a short. But of course, I did not say that on the forum........ I'm the prototypical "big coward"......

Even Zen himself was building coils not touching. I remember when I first bought the z atty we were told make sure the coils don't touch and the preinstalled coils from zen were all seperated. lol

Ha! I know, who wants to make waves, right? That coil thing was "common knowledge" on ECF for many, many months. Amazing how disinformation can invade a community like that.

The plastic tank on my kayfun lite is starting to show vertical scratch lines on the inside. It looks like it being eaten away. Where is that plastic going? I assume I am vaping small amounts of plastic in my liquid. Anyone else concerned about that?

I also have had this. Since doing kayfuns I have seen some of my tanks turn cloudy, this actually can scrape off and be ok again. I attributed this to a certain juice that I don't vape anymore, think it was a butterscotch. I also have old tanks that are cloudy aren't fixable. Then I have had one with those lines but don't really know if it's one that I currently have or an old one.

I watched some vids...especially from Super X about using Japanese cotton. He stressed using less than more. That might work in his RM2 or Odin (or whatever he was using) but it doesn't work in a Kayfun. I treat the Japanese cotton the same way as I treat cotton ball. The one thing I do is strip off the outer compressed layers from both sides of the pad. Not sure this helps or not but its what I've started out doing.

Although I haven't actually purchased the ... cotton myself, the person who sent it said it was kgd brand. I don't know if other brands are the same or not but with mine, I just separate the pad in half making 2 separate squares. From here I just cut a strip and at least with my 1.8ish diameter coils, I strip off a piece about 3/16 of an inch. By this time I should have a hard measurement but I just do it by eye. I don't twist the wick like I did with regular cotton but I do slightly compress and form roundish, then just slide thru. Yes there is no way my set up would work if I could slide the cotton out, without pulling over the mod unless I did it like a table cloth (super bionic fast). Now if one is swapping out an old wick and cannot pull the old one out without cutting or burning it out, it's to much.

My coils in the KFL's are all 3/32. I roll my OC wicks till they almost resemble yarn, and get it into the coil. When pulling the used wick it slides out with some resistance, not enough to deform anything but it's slightly more in diameter than the inside of the coil. Am I going for a similar resistance with JC, but just unrolled?

I'm using between 3/16 and 1/4" wide on a 2.0mm coil. So we're about the same. Actually, I think the last wick I made I did the same as you....fluff on one side,compressed layer on the other.

Some times I read too much. My kayfuns were working great for months then I kept reading less is better. Spent a month fiddling with less is better notion forgetting how well they used to work. Back to more twisting almost as tight as a silica wick and worked perfect....again

I would call it V1.5 not V2. There are improvements like the positive insulator and the filling / air control but the design is pretty much the same and its still HUGE... They are wasting so much useful space... the KF Lite at least is shorter but when compared to something like the erlkönigin, its still a lot of metal down there.

I think people speculate too much. It makes sense that if you have too much wick in the coil it would get pinched off. That's what most people would thing (I did). But it just doesn't pan out in real life. I used silica wick and I stuffed 4 strands of 1.0mm silica through a 2.0mm coil. I mean, I had to really yank on that fish tape and hold the exiting side of the coil in place with my finger nail to keep the coil from ripping off the deck. But it never produced a dry hit.
