Some times I read too much. My kayfuns were working great for months then I kept reading less is better. Spent a month fiddling with less is better notion forgetting how well they used to work. Back to more twisting almost as tight as a silica wick and worked perfect....again

I look back at all the time I spent fiddling with the cotton making sure it was "just right" --- not too little and not too much. I really have had a good laugh at myself. For all the time I wrung my hands that I was not putting the right amount of cotton in the coil, I could have pretty much just stuffed some in and been on my merry way vaping up a storm. Guess we all want to make sure that whatever we do is proper and correct, but we can get ourselves carried away in minutiae. Well, I'll never do that again --- yeah, right.......:D

I have to say, I have never had a dry hit from my kayfun. Not one single dry hit ever. And I've had it more than a year now. Maybe I'm lucky. But I always stuffed the coil pretty good. I didn't know about the "less is more" concept when I first got it. I just stuffed a wick in it and it worked from the get go. And I never strayed from what worked. With this Japanese cotton I recently got, I intentionally tried getting a dry hit and put in very little cotton. It dry hit alright. Tried it again to be sure. Sure enough, got it to dry hit. So I went back to stuffing it and I'm back to where I was.

My first "Kayfun" was a Russian my wife bought me. I sorta knew I was getting it so I spent hours and hours pouring over posts and videos. By the time I opened the box, I had enough cotton and Kanthal for every member of ECF to use for several lifetimes. (OK -- I exaggerate -- sue me)
What I'm trying to say is that I was so prepared for a very tedious, exacting wick building experience and when I finally got the first coil and wick installed I about cried tears of joy when the device did not dry hit OR leak. How could I, the uninitiated, accomplish what the vaping Gods have spent literally years perfecting in an aggregate sense? I realized it was not as complex as I feared and the devices were also more forgiving that I anticipated. All the fretting and sweating and it turns out these devices are a joy to build and use. So many ways to coil and wick them and one way is no better than the other except in the eyes of that user.
Dang, I'm really waxing to the right side of vaping today... I promise I'm done flapping my fingers now.....

I could not have said it better myself.

The Kayfun has a wide range of build options and is very forgiving.

Does svoemesto not ship to the US? I was gonna order some of those poly fill screws and when I went to check out the US was not
an option in the drop down menu.
That's a bugger :/

Try to find an official US rep. They should carry it.

If not, send it to me and I'll forward it to you. It's just a couple of screws no?

Thanks so much, I may take you up on that if I can't find them here.

I feel like I've just read a carbon copy of my KFL+ experience! Lots of prep and buildup and concern, and at some point I just built it. And I was stunned when it just worked. And it's just worked every time after that.

All that's been said is true IMHO. The KFL+ IS extremely forgiving, at least in my experience with my authentic V2 with a 2/14 production date. And man, if I can build something and make it work first shot, nobody should have any fear of being able to get one of these kicking out tasty clouds of vapor!

Many thanks to those here who armed me with the knowledge to get it done.

I think people speculate too much. It makes sense that if you have too much wick in the coil it would get pinched off. That's what most people would thing (I did). But it just doesn't pan out in real life. I used silica wick and I stuffed 4 strands of 1.0mm silica through a 2.0mm coil. I mean, I had to really yank on that fish tape and hold the exiting side of the coil in place with my finger nail to keep the coil from ripping off the deck. But it never produced a dry hit.
Although I agree the kayfun is forgiving and personally would error on the heavy side with the cotton as you know, but one can add to much which I believe won't produce dry hits, but can make for a muted, sometimes cottony flavor. I see it like this, dry hits, not enough cotton, cottony tee shirt taste, to much. And also another good way to tell if you don't have enough cotton is that after burn sound.

Hi guys
hello-011.gif

I had a tough time with my kayfuns in the beginning. I was over thinking it... trying to position the wick just so. Now I just pull the cotton though the coil and stuff it down in the chamber and I'm good to go. I've had great success with adding a bit more cotton in the well after stuffing the tails down. I kept hearing that "less is more" but I wasn't putting enough in there. I got that "after burn" sound a lot.

Long time no hear? Oh I see, take all our tips, (and give some) become a kaymaster, then just forget us.

I never thought of that. When I check it I'll have to taste it. Thanks.

You may notice vapour slowly flow out of the air-hole when you put your device down. After a while, you may notice that condensation build up on the bottom, unless you have a flat topped device that forms a seal against the base of the KFL.
