Hey guys. Im a big kayfun fan as well. Just got a lil prob I hope you can help me with. When I put in a fresh battery i tend to get dry hits. Im using kgd cotton.
I've heard about the 'less is more' method so haven't been using too much cotton but I always have to be careful about the first 10ish hits.
Just tried using more but still no joy. Can anyone help? A few picks of your builds would be great. I normally run a build around 1-1.2 ohms
Hi Adee...the solution is VERY simple. We've recently been going through this. When it comes to wicking, less is NOT more! Increase your cotton. The fact of the matter is, MORE is better! Trust me (us).
Have it so you get it to "drag" through your coil just short of having to deform your coil. Cut the wicks long enough so they lay on top of the deck. No problem if you bend the tails as long as it reaches the deck (go the overall width of the Kayfun).
Thanks for the info bronze. The minute the wife and kid go out in the morning im on it!!
i also tried something different with my last build. Instead of 'placing' the wick on the deck i spread/fanned it out. Saw a pic somewhere and thought I'd give it a go. Don't suppose you've tried that method?

Check out pbudardos review if the Russian v2.0 he uses a very very simple method to wick. I followed it and built my first micro coil with cotton and got amazing results, not a single dry hit, zero problemsThanks for the info bronze. The minute the wife and kid go out in the morning im on it!!

That's fine for rayon but I don't think he's using that?Hi Adee...the solution is VERY simple. We've recently been going through this. When it comes to wicking, less is NOT more! Increase your cotton. The fact of the matter is, MORE is better! Trust me (us).

For me, there is only one way to get those wraps glued together... Use a pair of ceramic tweezers and squeeze while the coil is glowing redHi all, I'm doing my second ever recoil and wick. I purchased some japanese cotton, going to give it a try.
Couple issues if you all could help me out please..
Having a hard time getting the coils to touch, keep burning them and then pinching with tweezers but always end up a bit apart.
The most important issue I am having is at this point though. I've seen so many different youtube videos and pics on this thread that I'm getting confused. I trim the coil wire off, kind of fluffed the cotton, and then I put the chimney on, tap cotton down gently and drip the wick. I am having issues with not wicking fast enough and or dry hits.
There seems to be so many different ways to do this, maybe I am making it harder on myself, I don't know.

You take it apart, what do you see?! Lump of cotton in the juice well and burnt wick under the coil?
Also what is the coil reading at? and what volts/watts are you running at?
