Congrats to everyone that has lost weight lately!!

I finally got my book - Eat This, Not That, Supermarket Edition. Have only skimmed through it so far but it's interesting. Also got my Walk Away The Pounds video collection, will try a workout the eve or tommorow at the latest. I have started dieting by counting calories. This is just for now until I settle on a different diet or join weight watchers. The first day I set my calorie limit at 2500 and carefully counted all calories and tried to keep them low, and ate a little less than 1700 calories that day. Now I am trying not to go over 2000 calories. Today I am not sure if I am going to make it though. I have been getting some diet/low fat foods but I still have plenty of foods here that are NOT. So will just have to watch my serving size. I do NOT own a scale lol so it's time to buy one so I can keep track lol.

Just wondering for people who count/have counted calories, is there anything else I should count and set a limit for as well? Don't want to make it too complicated right now but if I have to keep track of 2-3 things that is ok.

Today is not going well, though I am at least controlling serving size, I already know I will be a few hundred calories over by the end of the night.....

Oh, i know I mentioned flavor water earlier in this thread, and how I was drinking that more and pop less....but having probs with acid reflux because the carbonated flavored water had a lot of citric acid in it....

I went back to the store and found 2 more waters that, although not carbonated, have very LITTLE citric acid and are good, also no calories. I checked some crystal light that I had in my cabinet and was surprised to see citric acid as the FIRST ingredient so a no go there I guess lol!!

Fruit2O - I really like thier strawberry, and Vitamin Water has a good strawberry kiwi. But Fruit2O's natural strawberry is really good!! I got grape too, which was okay, kinda light for me, and peach, which I haven't tried yet. I also have some diet pop as well, which are 0 calories, but still, aren't healthy, so, more water for me.

No, I don't diy. Interesting idea though. Yeah twice this week I went to walmart to get 2 things, one was maalox extra strength chewables, and the other excedrin migrane, and both times they were out of both LOL. The second time I asked someone and he said that at least one of them, maybe both were pulled due to recall.....gonna have to look into that......
I got Equate instead of excedrin migrane (my son takes them, he gets migranes sometimes), and he took one and it worked well, so that's fine. But maalox is the best, tums just doesn't compare...

it'snot the right season atm, but if you put mint in a pitcher and then add the water and let it blend together for a bit--it tastes great and the mint works as a purifier. my whole family loves mint water. you can also put just a small amount of lemon or lime juice drops in your water---just a tad for flavor, but not too much for the heart burn. :)

I purchased a wonderful squash that I had never tried yesterday. It is called Kabocha. Very low in carbs and it was amazing. It does have natural sugars which shine as makes this squash taste just like sweet potato pie, I kid you not. All I did was to poke a few holes in the skin-placed it in the microwave for 1.5 minutes. This softens it enough to be able to cut it in half and scrape out the seeds. I put it cut side down on a sheet pan and put ½ cup of low sodium stock in the pan. With the oven at 350, I baked it for 20 minutes, covered. Then I flipped them and added a touch of stock to the inside and continued cooking uncovered for the remaining 15 minutes.

It sounds as through you are on the way. I never did well counting calories or a specific diet/menu plan. Not eating sweets, small plate with smaller servings, no 2nds, balanced meals and weighing every morn was about all I could manage in the way of dieting.

I am still having a hard time with drinking water. argh!

Good going Classy--steady.

Your squash sounds good Hz....

Good going CES. You are doing so well at getting that exercise in. Sorry I can't say the same the last couple days.

Hi everyone waving smiley-1.gif WTG Classy and everyone doing so well! I hope to join your ranks....for more than just 3 days. I am having a very difficult time - still - with consistency. Foodwise I do well but routinely exercising seems to be an issue. I'm using this thread as a confessional so I own up to it. :) If that doesn't work, I shall have to think of a more severe, er, incentive.

Well I tried one of the work outs today. I worked out to Walk Away The Pounds with Leslie Sansone. Picked the easiest of the 5 or 6 on there to start. I am SO out of shape. This workout would have been a peace of cake when I was in high school!!! lol
But I had to stop briefly a few times. About half way through I was going to stop completely but then I started the video up again and finished it. It's not a difficult video, but I just need to get in shape. Will improve if I keep doing it I am sure.
