YouTube - Miss Wicked Gets a Mega Tornado

This was actually started in another thread, but I wanted to bring it to the attention of the women vaporers, because I think it's offensive and degrading to women. You know...yet another company that wants to use sex as a marketing tool where, of course, the woman is basically there to service a man (in this case where TW's Tornadoe PV is the metaphorical penis).

I alread posted my opinion of it on youtube and I'll be sending an email to their customer service. Just wanted to share this with the rest of you.

Good for you!!! I read your post on the other thread. Just now posted again on there.

I can't believe how many people find this acceptable. Especially since society as a whole seems to be fighting stereotypes.

The ad is like a throwback to the caveman days.

It is degrading and disrespectful to BOTH men and women.

How a business can create and then show a video like this is beyond me.

I watched it, It didnt offend me because it was so stupid, I was reading the other thread before i watched and I honestly thought i would see "porn" or something because of the fuss it got. I think the KY jelly commercial on TV make me blush more than that TW video, Unless im missing something because i didnt find it funny , i didnt find it sexual , I just found it stupid and they did remove it from thier website, So for that i give them cuddos for listening to the ones that did get offended, as for it being on you tube everything finds it way there, i think i boils down to "You cant make everyone happy".

Oh, I agree with you that it IS stupid. But aren't you tired of always seeing commercials objectify women as sex toys/objects, whether from a major company or a smaller retailer? The fact that this is done in cartoon format makes no difference to me. This is not an adult video or sex toy shop. This is a store that sells electronic cigarettes. As it is their website is littered with cartoon depictions of half-naked she-devils with huge breasts. Typical sexist bull..... Then this video. WTF does this have to do with electronic cigarettes? Well, let's see, it's phallic-like! So naturally we have to put in the sex angle, and the male cartoon character has a HUGE penis and the woman cartoon is there to tell him how big it is and (forgive my language here) in their video.

It's preposterous.

I have to agree with MsSki here. It is a Totally Stupid commercial from a Totally Crass marketer. But It's not porn..just classless and tasteless..the porn is implied. Doesn't make me want to try any of their products.
Any market reseach firm will tell you women hold the pursestrings. Men make the big purchases..but not before mama says they can afford it.
Glad they took it down, but what does it say about the owners of Totally Wicked that they allowed it up in the first place.
I meant to add..I was among those women libbers of the 60/70's. We fought for our rights and won to a degree. But we can't change the minds of men who never matured above the age of 15. We never will..we just have to pray we never marry or raise one of them!

Love Monty Python personally. I feel that the issue is more one of professionalism. They have the right to run whatever ads they wish on their website, but I have the right not to support their business.

My 18 yr old chuckled watching, of course, but asked who they were targeting... the South Park crowd? Of course, this video may very well appeal to the customers that like to flaunt TW's devilish logo. If it works for them... *shrug*... no skin off my nose.

From one man's perspective: (which I know you are dying to hear....)

I've had a lot of interactions with a number of you ladies. Most of you strike me as intelligent, strong, confident women. I firmly believe that there is no way something like this can make you feel degraded unless you let it. Most of you are far to strong and savvy for that.............

This is the same kind of double entendre filled stuff that was used on Three's Company in the 70's and is used on The Simpsons today. Lowbrow to be sure, but not degrading.......

Don't let anyone sell you a bill of goods, you're too smart for that.

Elendil,

I respect your opinion, but also respectfully disagree on whether I "choose" to be insulted or not.

Anyway, aside from my own distaste for the video I also think it's a problem because it appears to be aimed at a younger crowd. I don't think this industry needs that right now with all the scrutiny happening.

But I can't tell them how to run their business, all I can do is say my peace and then choose not to do business with them.

I respect everyone's opinion whether you agree with me or not. I wish you all the best of health and success.

You're absolutely right, LadyPhoenix. I chose not to join a social group b/c of the icon they chose to represent them. No skin off their nose, I'm sure. I did not make a point of telling them my opinion, I just declined the invite. More or less the same thing you're doing with TW. We agree.
