Alright, so i got my XL today in the mail. Gave it a nice bath, rinsed it all out. Dried off with papertowels, gave the inside chassis a good blow drying to ensure it was dry. Filled up the bottle about halfway with BB, loaded in a fresh Orbtronic 18650 high drain battery, put in a brand new 2Ω silo carto. Turned it upside down, gave a couple of really good sqounks until i heard it gurgle. Peaked in the carto, looks fairly saturated! Great lets take a rip! Gurgling like hell! Alright I flooded it no big deal. Set it down, let it drain down, cause its a bottom feeder, should drain down. 10 mins later pick it up. Driest hit i have had in a long while. Gave another little sqounk while inverted, hit..flooded..2 mins later dry hit.

Soooo what the hell am i doing wrong? I really want the XL to work!

That's about it. You do NOT need to turn the nose down to squonk. In fact, you are not really "squonking" You should basically give the bottle a tap. Hold the Vmod horizontal...not pointing down, once you've tipped and seen the bubbles. (After that initial bubble thing, you don't need to tip down like that unless the Vmod has been sitting upright a long time. Like overnight.) You should hear a sort of "squirk" noise after you tap for normal feeding. Not a gurgle! You can then take a dry hit on the carto or atty to ensure it's wet...but don't go overboard with that. You'll be able to tell when it needs another feed. The vapor and/or flavor will drop off a bit. You can try another dry hit to pull the juice from the chamber...or do the horizontal tilt and tap.

I may have been a tad impatient! :D i swapped out for the hybrid, seems a bit better. Learning curve and all. BB requires some serious squonking as its some thick juice! Couple of hits then a squonk sound about right?
These girls Fourth, and Tearose give excellent advice. Now that that has been established. ..let me say this-

Bobas is a pain in the ...!! I bought this Vmod a few days ago, specifically for Bobas. I ultimately was having the same problem as you. I finally added about 9 drops of distilled water to a (almost) full bottle (provided with the vmod) and shook it well. It has made such a big difference with how it now feeds. The taste has not been altered one bit. It taste as good as ever!

Im with you Pro, im stiil trying to learn the best technique for my different juices. Ive definitely come a long way in the last three days. Althugh I haven't by any means perfected this bad boy, im amazed at how much better my juices now taste. Good luck man!

As of right now, BB is tasting better out of a protank then out of the Vmod. I will continue to test. BB is the reason i bought this mod. that juice is fricken tar.

Try the distilled water trick Time suggested. Sounds like it works for him!

So glad my heavenly Glacier Mist isn't thick and onery like that. Bliss!

I'm interested in getting a Vmod, especially with the current sale. Can someone tell me if the Vapage bottom feeder atomizers are better than the AMG hybrid? I've tried the hybrid ones and I like them (used for dripping only) but I'm curious about the BF ones. Also, is there any real difference between the Vmod XL and the smaller one besides the size? Thanks!

The Vapage AMG pro spec slant coil hybrid atomizers are the best (IMO) for the Vmod bottom feeder. They vape great, are consistent, produce masses of flavor and vapor, and hold up for a long long time. Many consider them the best hybrid out there. Even better than the Cisco Pro Spec. YMMV.

There isn't really any difference per se between the XL and the 2.0 except the size. Both perform equally. I prefer the XL due to being able to hold more juice onboard and the longer battery life (18650) but I like the 2.0 for taking out and about on errands and such due to it's being more "stealthy".

Hey Kyi

If you've used the Vapage Hybrid with the gold band on the case and liked it, you will love the BF version, as it has been upgraded. It is much more consistent and lasts quite a bit longer and the vape is, well, better. The description on the site now says "pro slant coil", so we often call it that here at ECF.

The BF version has some feed holes and the Universal doesn't. As most 510 atty's will feed on the Vmod, both will work. Some use 306's, too. But, the "pro slant coil" version has become the favorite.

Thank you both. Are the "slant coils" the ones previously known as "shifu"? I heard that term thrown around a few times... not really sure what it was referring to since I did not see any "Shifu" spec attys on their site. Can the bottom feeder atty be used for dripping as well? I'm still 50/50 on getting the Vmod... I really don't need to spend more money on another device, but what can I say... the huge discount is definitely enticing and I have been curious about this device for a while. Main thing is I use my Twist/Spinner more than my other devices because it's small and light and fits in my purse easily, as opposed to my iTaste MVP and Versa. I do prefer the taste of dripping but of course, it's very inconvenient when you're on the go.

Shi-fu is what this version was first called by one of the owner's of Vapage and what we first called it here at ECF. When it became available for sale the Vapage site kept the same Hybrid name and changed the description to "pro slant coil." Thus the confusions. I've often called it the "pro slant coil/shi-fu" atty.

The BF atty can be used for dripping on other devices, if you use a drip shield. It was designed for feeders with chamber or big drip well.

I find the XL more handy than the MVP -- but I have a feeling you'd like the Vmod2. It is simply adorable. Here's a very old picture that may help with the size differences:

I find the Vmod2 to be a very very purse or pocket friendly device.

Yes, I am also leaning towards the smaller Vmod, I have small hands and usually carry small purses that can't fit that much stuff in them. Ahh... I think I might bite the bullet on this thing soon. I see many people love their Vmods. How does it compare to other bottom feeders? The main thing about the Vmod for me is the price is low enough for me to try it, other mods I've seen seem to be quite expensive. Also, I vape a lot when I'm drunk... can it survive a drop or is it kinda flimsy? I've dropped my Spinner/Twist only a bazillion times and it still works.

Edit: Just realized I made a post about this exact question about a month ago and somehow I have completely forgotten.

One of the things that makes the vmod a great carry about device is that the design protects the atty/carto from being broken off when dropped on it's head.

No need to bring up any other feeders. IMHO feeders are great. Every APV has different features....and the Vmod has most of what I want in a pocket mod.

In many ways I prefer the Vmod over some other bottom feeders. The size, shape and ease of feeding the atomizer/carto figure large in this preference. That is not to say I don't like the more "traditional" bottom feeder. I have one, and I do like it very much. It also has the advantage of being more amenable to RBAs and such (not that I've figured out how to rebuild an RBA...but whatever...). It's a beauty and fun to use...but for ME, my style of vaping (heavy chain vaper), my hands (arthritic), and my lifestyle...the Vmod is the best fit. Easy to maintain. Uses an array of 510 atomizers and cartomizers and is sturdy. I've dropped mine more times than I like to admit. They're tough little guys! Don't let the "high impact plastic" chassis fool you. It's well protected in the metal shell. I've even seen a video where someone drove over their Vmod with a truck and it wasn't damaged at all (other than a scratch or two). I also like that they are pocket friendly (both sizes) and I too use a very small crossbody purse.

If your charger will adjust size for the 14500 batteries (what is used for the 2.0) or the 18650 batteries (XL)...I would think it'd be okay. If you get the Vmod kit you will get a little charger, too...and battery(s). It'd really be better to know just what KIND of charger you have. Some really aren't suited anything but the batteries they were made for (and even then it's iffy..depending on the model).
