Thanx for keeping up the fight on all our behalves, w/out e-cigs we would all be slaves to tobacco which is a known and come w/warnings on the package that they cause serious med. conditions. vaping has made me feel and function better, i don't "jones" for the next vape like i did for my next tobacco cig, there is a difference w/the nic delivery- nic only not a thousand other carcinagens. Good Luck, Jim

Thanks for all the effort you folks are putting forth on this. No doubt its going to be a battle. GOV only takes more and gives less at this point, so I wont be shocked no matter what happens. I may not be able to afford this hobby after Sam gets his greedy hands dirty. But I will never smoke again one way or the other.

I can not watch live web cast with my net connection so I wonder. Will I be able to see it on YT after its all said and done?

Vocalek - Greetings and thanks for the good work and information.

I attempting to be prepared for monitoring tomorrow's meeting, I have attempted to 'Enter' at the fda.gov link you provided. Doing so seems to go nowhere. Is that merely because the meeting is not presently in session?

I've signed up for "Adobe Connect," and can enter that via adobeconnect.com, but that may be something different from "Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro." The "system check" for Pro as found at the FDA link seems to not pass the test.

Pointers welcomed.

As a relative newcomer here I also must voice my opinion here. Thank you for going to battle for each and every one of us, E-cigs are the only thing that I have done in my 25 years of smoking that has actually allowed me to COMPLETELY give up Tobacco Cigarettes. As of right now I am 2 months and 3 weeks without one and am not craving them at all. I have done the gum, patches, Zyban, Chantix and numerous HOME remedies, all to only go back to Smoking. I am grateful to have found this option that has allowed me to finally quit smoking.

People should understand that this meeting is NOT addressing e-cigarettes directly. For advocates, it's more about promoting tobacco harm reduction. This meeting is about the FDA allowing longer use of NRT (gums, patches and lozenges) and other "innovative" smoking cessation products.

How this eventually affects e-cigarette users is that currently the FDA does NOT acknowledge tobacco harm reduction products. Anything that contains nicotine is either a smoking cessation product that is required to have low, fixed amounts of nicotine and instruct users to wean off by 12 weeks or it's a tobacco product. That is why e-cigarettes only had two choices for classification: NRT that must be strictly regulated for short term use and proven to work as a treatment for nicotine addiction or a tobacco product. So, if the FDA agrees to allow long-term use of approved pharmaceutical nicotine products it is, in a way, acknowledging that there can be tobacco harm reduction uses for nicotine products (which is much like having a 3rd category.) Once they approve NRT products for long-term use, it theoretically opens the door for other nicotine products to be approved for tobacco harm reduction use, too. So, this hearing isn't about e-cigarettes directly, but could affect e-cigarettes and smoke-free tobacco products in a roundabout way. It's a STEP in the right direction!

I'll definatly watch this... it will be after it happens because I'll be at working when its live. I'm new to the vaping world, but its become a big part of my life and I havnt smoked a cig since I started vaping. I need to get more informed and invested in the issues surounding ecig's.

Its just shocking to me that ecigs could become illegal yet cigarettes and alcohol aren't.

I will be watching, and God bless those who are fighting for our rights! Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to you all, and best of luck to all of those standing up for what we all believe (and know) to be a great blessing and life changing alternative to harmful tobacco products (and a much more pleasant and enjoyable alternative at that)!!!
