Fair enough. Perhaps limit the message to a few important points. The overall philosophy to me was lost.

Agreed, that might have been better in this setting. But I must +1 kristin here - the income level of smokers was all they had against it, which isn't terribly relevant just as arguing with the current speaker on the semantics of the words "craving" and "strong urge". C'mon.

Yeah, this "craving" vs. "urge" thing is ridiculous, hair-splitting busywork. But this guy is handling it like a champ. In fact, this speaker is further illustrating my point about how that Elaine woman came off. He is staying on point and talking to the panel on the same level. It works and has a chance at changing their minds or at least informing them, whereas Elaine came off as a confrontational fangirl who was in way over her head.

I'm sure she is on here and I apologize if that hurts her feelings, but that's my impression. I do appreciate that she's out there working hard for all of us.

Watching right now! I think they are going tl change warning labels.

On what? And to the think the FDA will listen to average, regular people because we ask them to and have good, documented reasons for doing so almost seems unfathomable these days. Quite honestly, I feel like this whole hearing is a sham on the part of the FDA so they can pretend they listened while they continue to play their part as a puppet of the WHO.

Kristin I'm curious. Is this panel familiar with you guys already? They seemed to ask Elaine a lot lot fewer questions then they have asked anyone else. Is that their way of discounting you guys or is there another reason you think?

The first speaker got no questions at all. I think the second only got one generalized question. The third and fifth have been the only speakers with any in-depth questioning done so far. I can't speak to any familiarity on the part of CASAA with the FDA.

On nicotine replacement drugs. From what I got is the warning stating "do not use cigarettes with this product " would be changed or just tossed out entirely. Also side note his idea of making these drugs available in smaller quantities would be great more smokers would be looking into it if say you can get the gum in a 5 pack vs only a 25 pack for 50 bucks.

Yeah, and the fact that they are actually asking him relevant, scientific questions about THR and quitting smoking and treating him as an equal and not stupid questions like "where did you get that number about the income of smokers" doesn't make a difference. When they asked Elaine about the pancreatic cancer lie she sounded ready and knowledgeable and at "their level" because she is. What did she sound like a "fangirl" of? tobacco harm reduction? I suppose she should have come off as not supporting it as much? She didn't come off as "confrontational" as much as "confident of the facts" she was giving to me. I understand that those are "just your feelings," but you don;t have the same experience with these as Elaine. She has done more presentations and testimony to the FDA than anyone on this forum with the exception of Bill Godshall and Bill assisted with these presentations. Honestly, if you think being nice and un-confrontational is what will win these people over or get them to respect us then you have a lot to learn about the FDA and ANTZ. Just wait until Bill speaks, he tends to get pretty feisty, lol!

And when the ANTZ start speaking and you will see what I mean -we can't afford to keep acting like church mice. The ANTZ will start telling their lies and the panel will eat it up, forgetting what most everyone said this morning.

Who regulates the manufacture of cigarettes? I'm assuming that it's not the FDA, but cigarettes do have a fair number of rules regulating their manufacture and sale.

Is 'our position' that we remain the wild west of no regulation at all (which probably keeps prices down a bit) or are we open to some non-FDA regulations?
