Current talk conclusions:

- smoking risks are really really high, really beyond compare to any NRTs
- there are a lot of promising nicotine containing products out there
- research should be fasttracked to assess their relative safety and efficacy
- there are some concerns with e-cigarettes quality control
- IF these products are effective, then the benefit would be tremendous

** But if people actually stop smoking and start using other nicotine containing producs, that might be promoting 'the addiction' which is bad, even if incidentally their lives are saved

Reduce-to-quit DOESN'T WORK. Just stop muddling waters with useless stuff.

I don't know about that, i was smoking at a reduced quantity for the first month i has my ecig before i finally decided i didn't want to smoke anymore. I actually purchased the thing only to reduce my smoking without the intention of completely quitting.

Interesting issues:

1) While they accept that combustibles are the main harm generator, they keep muddling the waters with "complete cessation". Guys, there is NO evidence that nicotine alone is harmful, and there is no comparison between the potential risks of nicotine to combustibles. Stop considering continued use of nicotine as a failure.

2) Speculation - whether vapers still smoke at home and just feel more comfortable at work because they vape there... Truth be told, we don't know.

Yeah - but that's still NRT / NCP use, not reduce-to-quit.

OK, I just joined the CASAA and volunteered to be a regional rep. I should be in a good position to get a lot of info being in the heart of tobacco country. Wish I could be watching this hearing, but at work and so busy putting grades into the system. (Quite a few students are NOT going to have a nice Xmas, LOL, I almost feel like the Grinch putting these grades in, but they earned them, however, I digresss :offtopic: sorry)

And please don't get me started on BP . They are the ones that should be under the microscope for their outrageous prices. I went to pick up a medication for my stepdaughter that she must take (she has aspberger's syndrome, a milder form of autism). The freaking co-pay was $120. I asked the pharmacist to recheck and see if our insurance didn't cover it or something. She returned and said the insurance paid some of it and then she wrote down the price had I not had insurance, $756!!!!!! $25.26 per pill!!!!!:shock::shock:OMG!!! Sorry once again, :offtopic: This just made me so angry, had to vent a little. Thanks for your indulgence :D
