MY what a refreshing overview of BP's wishes and intent! What a perfect answer to nicotine...a DRUG that makes you not want a different drug(with much more chilling side effects and marginal efficacy)...(Drug-Drug)+Drug=Drug....or did I forget to carry the 1 somewhere?

I'm lost...

In told you guys that if you thought Elaine's testimony was "confrontational" that Bill would blow it out of the water, lol!

Actually, I am hard pressed to find it 'confrontational'. He stated a number of facts, not even a lot of interpretation. He set the scene - this kind of facts ought to have been on the agenda already.

Anyhow, the lady that followed him was far more confrontational. She was carrying a banner, a war banner. She appeared as a crusader against all forms of nicotine being available to the public, regardless of health benefits or risks, regardless of anything. She reminded me of a religious zealot. It was quite scary, and I am grateful that she was an awful public speaker and, in spite being a non-smoker, couldn't maintain laryngeal function for more than 3 seconds in a row...

The juvenile, smarmy and confrontational outlook as seen in Elaine's presentation this morning, utilized prevalently by CAASA representatives in ECF and (thusly) adopted by many followers has caused failure on the part of CAASA in obtaining any support from this user of electronic cigarettes.

I can understand your reaction to the method of presentation by CAASA representatives, but I would ask that you continue to listen to the presenters on both sides of the issue before you make your final conclusion. I too was not thrilled with what I considered to be a non-professional approach by Elaine, but I will abstain from judgement as to the effectiveness of her presentation as a consumer advocate. This is a very passionate subject for many of those involved, and not everyone conducts themselves in the same manner, but that doesn't necessarily diminish the content of the argument they are making.

I will say that I was very much impressed with Bill's presentation, and his method of directly confronting misinformation and regulatory concerns in the industry. He seems to have the ability to address the issue in plain English (The Dummy's Guide) and still stress the finer points of the argument. From my experience, this is a rare combination of skills that is desperately needed if public opinion on these issues is to be swayed in our favor.

To both Elaine and Bill: Thank you for representing our side of this issue in this hearing and for your continued efforts.

elfstone,

I'm saying they want to push the Chantix etc. and the way I see those drugs is, hey you are addicted to nicotine, start taking this other drug and you won't be addicted anymore. They make the nicotine out to be the problem but replace it with an even bigger one all while patting themselves on the back and collecting huge dividends.

Well, yeah.. In Chatix' case it's funny - it has proven life altering and life threatening side effects, while non-tobacco nicotine DOES NOT!

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I disagree that CASAA, in general, is "juvenile, smarmy and confrontational." If you believe you can do a better job, then I strongly encourage you to do so. But no such thing as too many advocates! Many of us have been dedicating hundreds and hundreds of hours of our time, volunteering for CASAA for over 3 years now and I'm sure some of us would appreciate other people stepping up and taking some of the load off of our shoulders.

waaaa a 2 hour lunch ... IDK guys I only missed the first speaker ...

but it seems as tho e-cigs are NOT doing well... Bill got our Points across,

but I don't think the panel cared at all  it felt like when he hit on the law changes,

it went totally over their heads . Sounded like he knew way more about what they can & can not do then they did .

.

Probably because you agreed with what he said. I didn't get to see his presentation because I had to go to a doctor's appointment, but I know Bill and have seen him testify many times before. He doesn't pull any punches and calls a spade a spade - or in this case, a liar -a liar,
