Guess I am fortunate to have 3 great juices, PV's that require little maintenance, and a good supply of carto's......I buy juice in 100ml bottles and carto's 20 at a time, so my inventory stays at a level that allows me to re-order before I run low....also get free shipping on my orders...I have found my "happy place' and hope you find yours Franki...

And my PV was expensive....$200.00 with a 2 year warranty, 1 year on the battery (battery replacement is $25.00 if out of warranty)...so over the two years the cost of the PV is less than 30 cents a day...

So, my monthly cost averages: (unless I purchase something extra)

PV cost pro-rated over 2 years --- 9.00 per month
Carto's ---- 12.00 per month
Juice----- 45.00 per month
_______________
Cost per month- $ 66.00

Cost of CIGS I smoked before I started vaping -- $180.00 per month

BUT my quality of life is better than when I smoked, and that is Priceless.....

i was lucky enough that when i typed in e-cigarette the forums page came up boy was that alot of reading! hahahaha most of the money i call wasted was trying out different cartos that didnt work for me and some bad juice . but someone on the forums said to read the reviews about the juices u did like and check out the people that had the similar taste buds(in juice flavors)as u did and check out their referrals which did help me out alot, plus the classifieds and swaps. i still spend a little xtra sometimes but i don't jump on the the greatest newest thing out there any more learned a lesson on that one. that being said good luck on your journey there is always someone on these forums willing to help you out. its a nice place!

I'm frustrated too. First juice is not consistent, even if the vendor is, it may have to steep or for some reason it may just taste like crap some days. The biggest problem isn't the juice, it's the carts and cartos. I'm getting a totally unreliable experience no matter what method I use and they don't last long. I'm also tiring of inhaling burnt filler. I'm wasting tons of juice, that never gets efficiently used in order to prevent a burnt filler and then the cart or carto just goes bad and the juice is wasted. I have about 6 juices I can tolerate as long I can get a consistent and reliable vape from the device.

I'm spending a crazy amount of time topping off, cleaning, charging ect.. And I have about two days a week I'm even enjoying the vaping.

As it I'm over 2 months in and I'm close to $700.00 in the whole.

If I can find a good fillerless method, I think things will get better since I'm starting to narrow down juices I like. But the juice hunting process has been very expensive as well. I've tossed a bunch, but the waste is the bigger issue.

You may be a good candidate for a carto tank if your eliquid isn't really thick or dark. The tank provides a continuous feed to the carto, through a hole or slot about 1/3" up from the bottom.

I use a notcigs m1a1, it has been very solid, hassle free. Other vendors make good products, too.

Downside is if you vape certain cinnamon put other flavors known to crack the clear plastic used in most tanks. I use a simple vanilla tobacco, no problems.

You just described my experience with and opinion of cartos :\

Have you tried the Vortex/G4/G5 style filler-less? They can still leak a little (a lot on a fresh-fill if there's a problem with the seal between the tubes and the connector), but they've been on the market for a while now and I've had good luck with the 510 threaded G4s.

ETA: These don't work well though, in my opinion, if your juice is dark or overly sweet.

I didn't read the whole thread. But *hugs* for spending that much on you vaping supplies and such.

I went into this wanting to spend the least amount that I could. So I researched A LOT.

I bought my joye 510 before finding EFC... good price came with 2 of everything (batt attys) 5 carts and a charger. $47 It was good for a start. I also got a 30ml bottle of desert ship for $15. With shipping and everything it came to around $70.

Found EFC (SO GLAD!!!) I would have been lost when it came to juices and well everything else.

DH did not like the desert ship juice. So I got more juices. Right around $40 for all my samples with shipping. And I just got another atty and 3 xl batts $55.

So I have Spent $165 on vaping.

I have saved $120 not smoking and put it toward vaping. ;)

However We have saved about $100 total because DH is not smoking anymore as well. And I think when we find our "go to" flavors it will be right around $50 a month for us to vape. So we will save about $250 a month.

I think everyone has a different start up cost and adjustment period. It can be really frustrating.

In Australia cigs are $14 for a pack of 25, which I smoked 8 packs per week which comes to $5,824.00 per year. So far on vaping I have spent about $700 and I'm pretty much set for the next 3 months. I expect to spend about another $300 on juices, replacement batteries and cartos over the next 7 months. That puts me at annual spend of about $1,000.00, a saving of a tick under $5,000.00.

Am I saving money vaping? Too right.

Do I feel a lot better vaping? You betcha!

Doesn't matter which way you spin it, I'm miles in front socially, physically and financially.

Amen Brother! Saving your life and saving money who can complain about that?!?!?
My banner only counts the money saved from smokes not purchased but according to my banner and my real life calculator adding up all my e-cig orders juice etc I still have saved $140. But now after 6 weeks of spending and trial and error I have got myself organized and only need to keep an eye on juice and carto's so my saving will start to improve even more. Again we are in Australia where cigarette prices are astronomical.

Last cigarette 16th October, 2011. Forever grateful for the support and advice from ECF.

Save money?...what the hell does that mean? Nope not me. I didn't start vaping to save money. I did it to improve my health. I love mods and try to buy attys/juice/cartos when I can catch a good sale. I have enough cartos on the way to me right now, plus what I already have, to last me a couple of years. Attys get used only to test juices but my dual coil atomizers are on my Reo's. Juice...never can have enough. I love trying out new juices. I've narrowed down my favorite vendors so buying from all of them has stopped...even new vendors just starting, I don't buy from, until I see some reviews.

I know exactly what you are talking about. When you purchase a carto, the vendor tells you how much e-liquid it can hold, but they fail to mention that if you put in too little, there is a good chance you are going to dry burn the carto. I take no chances now, in a 510 boge, I put in at least 1ml using the syringe method and wait for a few drops to come out from the bottom. I then make very sure that they are dry because you can harm your battery. Also, if you buy dual coils, you need to put at least 2 ml in the carto. I have done this after I burnt about 20 cartos.

It is not your fault, the fault lies with the vendor for not giving out this information...telling me a carto can fill up to 3 ml is not enough information. They think everyone who comes to their website knows all this before hand. The first week I started vaping I was putting about 15 drops in a krd carto and they vaped well. Based on that experience, why should I think that 15 drops to try out the juice is not enough. It is the vendor's responsibility to explain this, not yours.

I have also spent too much money starting out and I cannot even find a juice that is vapable...I mean decent. I purchased just recently 2 sample packs of juice that arrived yesterday consisting of 12 tobacco juices. On a scale from 0-10 each one in my opinion received a 0 that is 12 out of 12 zeros. I find it incredible that so many people love all this juice. I must come from the Bazzaro world. None of this makes sense to me. These were highly recommended vendors.

You've only quit smoking 2 months ago, right?

My taste buds weren't back to good for months after I switched to vaping. And over my 2 years I've run the gamut of e-juices. Those that were my favorites in the beginning taste dreadful to me now. (And by the way, I've had the flowery crap, too ... yuck!) As most everyone has stated for some it takes a good deal of time to find the right liquid, and those tastes evolve over time.

I think the suggestion above is a good one ... see what you think of unflavored.

Just my :2c: ... and experience

This is in regards to the pre-paid Visa card...
I did not know that...I live on the fringes of society...how much are they and thanks for the info...I really did not know that

Thanks alot

I don't know if anyone has answered your question yet, but if not... just go to a grocery store, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS... just about anywhere... and you can find them. They usually have a pre-set face value ($25, $50, $100) so you will pay the face value plus a small activation fee (maybe around $5). I personally think the activation fee is a rip off, but hey... you have to do what you have to do. Oh... if you have a store around you that offers Green Bax (in the south we have grocery stores called Piggly Wiggly and some gas stations that offer them) then save them up and you can convert them to cash on a pre-paid card.

Also, don't know if you've tried this one or not, but High Caliber has a juice called Killa Vannilla and it is excellent. It tastes like raw vannilla cake batter... which I love. It's great for an all day vape... at least for me.
