You cannot be serious...I have purchased approx about 50-75 cartos...I use five at a time to rotate because the juice I vape sucks. How much does your juice cost...you get it for free. I have tossed at least 10 30 ml juices in the trash...I purchase the gear and juice in the same places everyone else does...your statement is totally illogical

Sounds like someone is bitter, for some reason.

You've well overspent when there was no reason to, and now you seem ...... at the fact.

my girfried and I have been vaping for 3 months now and we've spent about $800 total on vaping supplies, juices and shipping. thats equal (almost EXACTLY) to the amount we would have spent on ciggs. we each smoked about 4 packs of Marlboros a week each.

now that we dont need to buy any more batteries or chargers, its just juice and cartos, and that only costs us about 80/month total. so there are savings to be had in the long run, but i feel like i will always continue to experiment around with different cartos, new juce flavors and such, so the savings will be eaten up. but im not worried about that. i didnt switch to ecigs to save money. i did it to save health, which is worth a lot more than money is.

Amen to that bro!

Heh, I knew having kids would come in handy some day! They set me up with the goods, because they wanted to see me at least cut back on the nasties. I took the ball and ran with it, found ECF, got edumacated and because we are pretty much on a fixed income and I can't work, frugal is our buzzword. After my 510 died I got a Tornado (EGO clone) pass-through for $19.00 and was able to use my 510 carts and attys on it. If there was a good sale with free shipping I would pick up a couple of cartos to try, or a few flavors @5 for $6 cuz I started off DIYing since 1) I already had VG & quite a few flavors for baking (Lorann & Wilton) and 2) It was a much cheaper option than buying premixed, 3) I have that mad scientist in me that loves to experiment, 4) I could make it the exact strength and flavor I wanted and knew exactly what went into it, and 5) I mix for my son too, so he pays for a lot of the supplies! Works for me!!! I will also admit to pressure washing out my cartos with hot water followed by a high proof alcohol, which I then set out in the Florida sun to dry out for a day or 2. Sometimes I have to use a toothpick or something similar to re-center the central hole or tube, but it almost always works! I was hating the idea of tossing them when the coils were still working but they were getting progressively harder to draw on to the point of sucking juice on each inhale. Yuck! If you want to know if a solution exists in regards to vaping, google it! Chances are you will be directed to ECF or YouTube!
Anyway, the whole point of this is if I had unlimited funds, I could have a field day trying out stuff to my hearts content, but I can't, so it's my way or no way. I'm cool with that because...I'm (almost) not smoking!!! Before vaping, smoking the bargain brand I (or I should say hubby) was spending about $240 a month at 2pad!!! I've not done the monthly break down on what vaping cost per month, but I know it is a tiny fraction of the above! Even if I added in my one "extravagance" of cartos, say 2 packs of 5 per month (and for me that is a lot) tops out at $15, and my monthly allotment of nicotine? Got me there cuz I buy in big bottles and mix for 2 people and don't really keep track of how much or how long, but lets just say another $15? Oooo that's $30.00 a month! Even in the ridiculous and highly unlikely event I had to replace my pass-through every month, (so far it's lasted 9 mos.) I'd still be under 50 bucks! I take it back, by biggest expense is the couple packs of nasties I still buy a month because I just can't kick the .......s! Though it is only a few a day, it is still a few too many and I hate the idea that they still own me when I like vaping so much better. I don't get it. I think there is a lot to be said for WTA's, but that is a whole other topic! Happy (and economical?) vaping!

Why buy such large amounts to try? With you being so logical and all.
A. Dont buy crap, or
B. Start Smoking again.

Cheech speaks the truth...

I am not sure, but if your post refers to me, then all I can say is "Happiness is a Warm Gun"

Once the learning curve is overcome, the expenses drop drastically. Just have to find the battery/atty/carto/ohm/voltage sweetspot and a juice you like.

If I had it all to do again I would have:

1. Ordered a VV madvapes box for $35
2. Ordered a bunch or cartos and attys $100
3 Order a bunch of liquid testers $50-$100

Then, once I was thoroughly convinced, I would:
1. buy a quality PV that could reproduce the same volts.
2. Buy only the carto/attys that I settled on
3. Find the cheapest way to procure the juice I liked best.

As it stands, I used to spend $360 a month on cigarettes. With vaping I am at about $60-$70. That's a $300 difference and that is more than enough to buy the "test" vaping materials.

You can save tons of money if you do this right.

That's must have been a while ago cause I don't see these $8.00 Ego you speak of at that site. I don't see no sales of them anywhere. Point me to the link? Those are good prices for ego's 1100mah batties

bought them just this monday i think. they had a half off sale on everything i think. had a coupon code on the front of their site, seems to be gone now, so sale's off. bookmark the holiday sales forum, and the deals thread, don't recall where they're at at the moment however.

Alot of the posts i read on here depict themselves as being long term smokers new to vaping and such, but not often a gamer or someone very familiar with online social interactions. So let me be the first to point out, you were all just trolled by FRANKSTER. (taken from the urban dictionary)
1. Troll
"One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument"

My interpretation, "argument" being used loosely. Anyone who spends an estimated 850.00$ in 2 months on ecigs obviously did not do their homework. A SB and KGO kit is a fine starter choice. However... How can you possibly justify 400 dollars on juice in 2 months? No way you vaped it all, and if you didnt like the flavor and trashed it... tough nuggets. Again. TROLLING

This thread is probably long over but I thought I would weigh in just the same...

I have been tobacco-free for nearly 5 months now, and while I do agree about spending lots of money on vaping, I am not longer on blood pressure medicines and can play basketball once again. Knowing all I know and having made it nearly 5 months now, I would have paid 10x what I have paid. Not having to run for a pack of cigs when I get low and not having to buy lighters, new clothing because of burn marks on them, replacing a patch of carper due to a dropped cig. If you quit smoking analogs for the financial reason, look deeper.. you will certainly see more value than just the price per pack.

I know I have saved a ton of money.. Sample, sample, sample.. Look for deals, etc.

I bought an expensive starter pack that wasn't worth it.. I know this, but you live and learn. I found this forum and saw EVERYONE talking about ego batts.. so I bought an ego batt! It worked great with the atomizer I was using. Then I saw everyone talking about boge cartomizers. Bought a 5 pack on sale for $5 and loved them. Now I am good to go until I see a lot of talk otherwise. For me, it is a matter of finding the deals at the given time. Likewise, flavors don't bother me as they seem to with other people. There are some I don't really love, but I'll vape them accordingly! I suppose it is all preference and we all have some! Some people can participate in a hobby and spend five times as much as the next....

Overall, I can say I have saved a lot of money. By save, I mean used that money towards other things such as food, taking my girly out to a restaurant, or even buying myself something once in a while. Also one thing people don't seem to mention is the gas station visits. Almost every time I went into one I bought a drink with my pack..

Frankster, what is your quote "happiness is a warm gun" supposed to mean?

From the very first month of vaping, I've been saving money. I've limited my purchases to what I would otherwise be spending smoking, or less. I was spending $180 a month smoking. Now I'm spending under $30 a month. Last time I bought juice was in October, for $52 and I have half of it left 8 weeks later. I'm still working on a 15-pack of cartomizers I bought for $25 several months ago and have 2/3rds+ left. This is CRAZY cheap when you find what works for you. I've saved at least $600 in 6 months. Even after I force myself to upgrade to a ProVari in the New Year, I'll still be saving mad money. The only way you can't save money by vaping is if you buy mods and keep searching for the ultimate vape instead of realizing what you already have if FAR better than what you smoked for years. So yeah, our signature images that state our savings may not be accurate, but anyone who isn't saving money is not doing so out of choice... and that's fine because they're helping the community grow, improve, and ultimately... without exaggeration... saving lives - including mine. Oh, thanks for that, btw. :D (Yeah, one week from my 6-month nail-free mark and I'm still using my first e-cig... the trusty eGo batts with Resurrectors. Uber)

Jeez- each to his or her own, you know?

If you don't like vaping, and feel like you're wasting money, try something else. Snus? Cigarettes? Yoga?

Find what works for you.

But it's silly to try to overgeneralize- Saying "You can't save money by vaping" is just as dumb as saying "vaping is always cheaper than smoking."

I've spent around $100 a month, on average, vaping. That's probably somewhat more than I spent on cigs. (Where I live, cigs are less than $3 a pack.)

I COULD save money vaping- a riva, a low res atty, a drip tip, and off you go.

But I didn't start this to save money, I started it cause I want to. And don't mind spending $$ on it. Seriously, though- if you spend $100 a month on cigs, you can EASILY save money vaping. $1200 a year will buy you- a really nice mod with charger, plenty of batts, tanks if you want, as much juice as you could possibly vape, and pile of decent cartos or atties.

No reason to save money on this if you don't want to, but if you want to, you can.

Best,
Ande

I spend a small fortune on stuff. It isn't pretty. I tell myself that I'm still looking for perfection. I'm not. I just like gadgets. ;) I don't know what will become of this hobby. Hopefully it doesn't cost me too much but it could. I like simplicity so that should save me some. I pretty much restrict myself to 808s. That should save me money. Once you find what works for you though I think the financially insecure should probably consider restricting their outlay.

I think it is important to do an honest accounting so I'd count your initial expenses and any upkeep expenses as well. You had to spend that to invest in it -- like you'd have to buy a lighter, go to the store, etc... Those all must be accounted for if you're looking for an honest answer as to your ROI.

I DIY and only spend about 5 bucks a month. I used to roll my own cigs, and that was cheap too, but if you are throwing 30ml bottles in the trash, you are a wasteful person anyway, and it is ironic that you even concerned about cost. I can narrow down the problem, go look in the mirror, this is obviously cheaper once you get a set-up going. By the way I make my own AA battery boxes for $2.40 each, Batteries from Australia in bulk $1.43 each, Chinese chargers $2.21 each, Large 240ml bottles 36mg VG $8.99, Etc. This hobby can be as expensive as you want or as inexpensive as you would like. I personnely do not like to spend any more than I have to. I like to vape, and I spend money on other things which are more important. Your point about cost is ridiculous and you know it.

Let me see.

I made a $ 200 investment right away.

Bullet starter kit with a tank, a couple of cartos and 2 X 30 ML juice.

I came back, a few weeks later, More Juice and some more Cartos $40.00

Then another tank, some cartos spare o-rings and a bottle of Juice. $60.00

Then more cartos and more juice.... $45.00

So I am $350.00 in at 2 months but also have enough supplies to last several more weeks.

So I am going to average just over $100 a month including my start up EQ cost.

Easy to see the savings.

I think you are just wrong. When you start out vaping and know no other person who vapes, I can see spending 600 t0 700 dollars in the first month. I like nice things and the analogs were just getting to expensive for me. I rolled analogs for about a year...I really did not like rolling them and the taste was even worse that my previous smokes.

The gear cost me 200 for a kgo kit and a silver bullet. The cartos were the same prices that most vendors charge for 5 and 10 packs. Most of the money went to juices. Being new, I relied mainly on you tube reviews for my juice the first month of vaping or the first 6 weeks.

When you are new and you start watching and listing to people like grimmgreene and others tell a juice is great and what not, you tend (being naive) to want to try it. I did and it cost me money, mainly because all the juices came fron different houses. Figure 10 to 15 juices at 10 to 15 houses 20 0r 30 ml for prices at approx 10-20 dollars each and you can see that it was not insane to spend 300 dollars on juice in six weeks.

As far as tossing juices, I was not on ecf for about my first month so there was nothing else to do with the juice. I do not like keeping thing in my apartment that are never going to be used so I toss it out. I would have given it away for free otherwise.

My point of cost is not ridiculous as you pointed out and I do not know it. I would have done the same with any new venture if I am interested in it.

I really do not know how people on ecf smoked analogs if the watch their money so carefully. Also, I want to vape the highest quality juice there is and that cost money or more than what other members might choose. If I wanted to just vape to satisfy my addiction, then I would just buy unflavored nic, but that is not why I got into this.

I truly believe that most members should get into government so we can bring the national debt down. And another thing, when I look in the mirror, I see a good-looking guy, nothing else.
