I'll add that I know at least 3 women that carry because they were the victims of Domestic Violence and, although I'm sure they are prepared to use it, they say that just having it has helped their emotional trauma lessen .. almost like a therapy ..
So long as the PTSD is not strong enough to make them go into a flashback.

Well, the good news is, the naysayers on carry have been proven wrong .. there has been no uptick that I know of on senseless shootings because of the carry laws ..

I've packed heat ;) since the 1970's / '80's .. at the minimum in a vehicle .. mainly because what I used to do and being on the road a lot .. during all that time, I only had to brandish and fire a warning round once, when I really felt threatened ..

I don't really worry all that much about Home Invasion, my place is pretty secure .. so is the workshop, by necessity .. for me, it's just the security of knowing I'm prepared just in case ..

Maybe you've misunderstood my meaning? It's not about being a naysayer to carry...just saddens me to see how many feel so unsafe that it's needed in order to feel secure...;)

I will surely be glad when this Heatwave we're still gripped in Flyover Country breaks .. it's a bit odd for this time of the year to still be hitting 95 .. any rain we've had just gets sucked up quick or evaporates just as quick .. my yard is a wasteland (that could be a Good Thing .. :)) .. not having had to mow now ..

I'll have to get out and at least mow/mulch the leaf fall soon .. although I don't expect the leaves have anything to do with "Fall Color" .. it's more like lack of water .. I don't even know if there will be any worthwhile "Fall Color" this year at all .. :(

October is my month for doing my yearly Winery Tour, but this heat sure does nothing to put me in the mood for it ..

I was outside awhile ago trying to straighten up the shed...in about 20 mins. I looked and felt like I had an outdoor shower!Yukky!

Ahhh...remember the good ole days...I do believe that the world is becoming too vicious for me...I've said it before and I'll say it again...the earth was heading toward total destruction as soon as human beings showed up.

Roots in a bad memory. I abhor returning to that situation.

That's what I call a nightmare, not a dream..;) I fight to wake up from those to bring them to an end...on the other hand....there have been dreams that were so lovely I wanted to go back to sleep and continue them..:D

Being a "sweater" myself, that becomes a Natural State when I'm outside in the heat .. I embrace it by liberally dousing myself from the garden hose, regularly .. ;) ..

EDIT :: In your case, that would be a Self Inflicted Wet T-Shirt / Blouse Contest .. ;)

Just a thought...if it's been so hot and dry, won't that have a detrimental effect on the crops from which the wine is made?

I can't say .. the area I go to is Hermann, MO .. it's on the Missouri River and I don't know if they irrigate or not, or if they have had good rain .. if it has had an effect, future vintages might be .. you might be surprised to know that most Wineries will buy grapes from an outside source if needed due to weather, etc .. :) .. these folks are not worried about soil vs taste, etc, as the snobs in France are .. ;)

This morning, I read a little bit of a disturbing article on Orange Crops and Florida/Irma .. prices expected to rise substantially .. something I never thought of ..

I'm of a similar mind as the theoretical dude, if one is to look at percentage of population and not the count of "incidents." The percent is probably pretty close, but there are now a LOT more people, so the count is up. And the "reporting" is certainly up... but I see it as akin to when they "discover" some new illness - all of sudden there will be huge numbers of cases showing up. Uh, perhaps because prior to IDing the bug they didn't diagnose it?

Then again, both he and I could be all wet :)

Oranges aren't the only thing being affected by weather this year...:( This time of year I start stocking up ahead of time for my holiday baking ingredients...went into shock over how the price of walnuts had gone up...searching online for reasons why, I saw pecans being suggested as a replacement. Not sure that was a good suggestion as pecans were already more expensive, and coming from the Southern states, with what they've been experiencing with weather....

( I was born in the middle of four boys so I naturally played ruff...no dolls n such...tho I did love Jacks and Pic-up -sticks and Hopscotch)
I never liked dolls either. Never understood the fascination.
I discovered yesterday that my front door has been unlocked for several days. Last night I had a dream that there was someone else with me in my bed. It was upsetting.
I'm so sorry! That's a horrible feeling!

I'm with the dude that has a theory. I've been saying that for years. It may not be all there is to it. But, I'm pretty sure that covers most of it.

Different strokes....;) I spent countless hours designing, draping, learning to draft patterns, create and sew for them. Childhood dreams of growing up to be a designer so that I could dress my beautiful Mother in wonderful garments....

My market had them at $11.99 a pound...that's what put me into a tizzy. It was a $4.00 increase since I bought them a month ago...:( Mixed reports on Google....some saying the CA crop was going to be bad....another saying otherwise. They can be stored in the freezer to keep them from getting rancid if you stock up...;)

I've never had much sense of style. I always liked riding bikes, climbing trees, exploring down the railroad track, using little cars to create roads in the sand or pretending. The jungle gym in my grandmother's backyard was so many different things. A cave, a spaceship, the belly of a whale, . . .

Or indoors, lots of forts and pretend worlds, Legos, or creating fantasy houseplans with secret passages, hidden jungle gyms, underwater caves, huge libraries, and interesting mazelike floorplans.
