Hola .. :)

From the "Curmudgeon File" ..

Is it just me or has the Fine Art of Parking taken a nosedive like many other things in Society .. ?? .. People park crooked, take up more than one space, park right on the line, park next to you so their vehicle is so close you can't get in your drivers side door, park in the middle of the parking lot with a giant travel trailer, park with the hood area way to protruding into the drive zone, park in the "Fire Lane" and go shop and more ..

Is it so difficult to try and actually semi-center your vehicle within the parking space .. ??
And what about what seems to be the ever shrinking size of parking spaces .. ?? Not all of us drive a Prius ..

And don't even get me started on those that dump a loaded diaper or other detritus as they pull out .. when in most cases, there is a trashcan somewhere nearby .. :( .. oh no, we can't take a minute and actually go to the trashcan .. not while we're checking our Facebook likes on that stupid cat video we posted 30 seconds ago or responding to a "Whatcha Doin' ..?" text ..
Or the people who park in the disabled spots ... who aren't disabled, have a tag or disabled plates. I see a lot of that around here. :nah:

Or the ones who are probably in their mom's car with a sticker and they hop out, run in the store and come out with a zillion shopping bags. They sure don't look disabled.

I think I jinxed myself when I brought up weekends, batteries, and my thermostat... It's Saturday, battery seems to be working fine in thermostat, but...no heat and temps are dropping. Called management 3 hours ago and here I sit, bundled up, waiting for the repairman to call...

Yep! I have a placard and always use it at Walmart/Sam's. It's too painful to walk far enough to get a cart (great walker, you know). I never use at Denny's. Ours draws lots of old people and handicapped. I once saw an old lady that had to push her mother's wheel chair the full length of the parking lot. Some people need the space much more than others.

as the Elderly Lady with a Walker or cane ambles in and then can't get an electric cart .. because the perfectly capable 20 something took the last one ..

Or - Elderly Man, especially when "You" are having a really bad day getting around . . . AND - It happens more then Ya' know . . . Just Sayin' . . . :-x :censored: :-x :censored: :-x :censored:

YEP - And while "You" never know exactly who is disabled and why and why they have a Handicap Tag - what really gets 'Me" it seems most of them that are questionable are very well dressed (Men in Suits/Women scantily clad in sexy outfits bouncing into the store and some of both genders even running) and driving either a Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover, etc. . . . :-x :censored: :-x :censored: :-x :censored:

YEP - Always walk as much and as far as I can when it's possible, however there are truly those times that Ya' keep driving around until a Handicap space becomes available, especially when Ya' can barely get to that Mobile shopping cart to use because the store is so big and Ya' NEED Food (Milk) that just so happens to be all the way in the back of the grocery store too . . .

No kidding. And silly me, I thought reading was part of the driving test.

Tell "Me" about that one too . . . Took years to finally be approved and get an assigned parking space where I live (previous managment refused for over 5 years even with a doctors note and having handicap tags) . . . No Parking sign in the assigned parking space . . . And don't Ya' know other Tenants (who know better), Their Guest, and delivery people still park there . . . When they are confronted they say - OH I didn't know - or I was only parking for a minute (That was over a half hour to an hour ago) . . . What's worse are those who start cursing - asking what the problem is as you stand there with your walker/cane . . .

    Okay - "My" apologies for the RANT . . . Ya' all just hit one of those buttons . . . BREATH - "UNCLE" - BREATH . . . Moving on . . . Just Sayin' . . .

    Hit a nerve, did I .. ?? :danger:

Yeah, well .. I think Dan's comment on the obvious well-to-do folks that roll in with a handicapped plate or mirror hanger are kind of the ones that get me, especially as they bop right into the store / restaurant, etc .. looking fit, well dressed and dapper .. I mean, do they pay a DR to certify their status just so they can get good parking .. ??

Not to say that there are not well-to-do folks that might be legit handicapped ..

@FranC, I hope you had a wonderful birthday.

@Katmar, please come back soon all refreshed.

@oldbroad, it's nice to see you posting more. I hope you're doing well.

@Diver9543, I'm glad you had a good day at the range.

I was supposed to go to the range yesterday with my daughter and her husband. But, she ended up not feeling well. So, we're supposed to go today instead. They're both going to take their LTC class next Saturday, and she wants to have one day with the handguns to get a feel for whichever one she decides to use for the class. She's got 4 to choose from.

Not to say that there are doctors who would do this for undeserving people but sometimes physical handicaps may not be visible. For example, I have zero cartilage in my right knee…it's bone on bone. Some days I can walk fine, some days I visibly limp and some days I need my cane. My doctor offered to sign a handical form for me but I declined.

I would feel guilty for not getting it because I'm not protecting my health like I 'should'. Of course, I would also feel guilty for being selfish enough to get it. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. I'm a good Catholic girl. ;) Guilt is our specialty.
