Morning, misfits. Maybe a break from the rain today, although the temp is set to plummet. Heck, they're even making noises about snow down to sea level, although claiming it won't stick there. Uh huh. Of course, an inch in Seattle will still paralyze the city. :facepalm:

Hola .. :)

From the "Character Flaw or Am I Not Alone" File ::

When the last bit of cereal has been spooned out of the bowl, I always have residual milk left .. yet, I have never been able to bring myself to "drinking" that milk out of the bowl .. I don't know why, but I just continue to use the spoon until the milk is gone .. (and no, I've never tried to lap it out like a cat .. :eek:) ..

I'll add that Honey Nut Cheerios seem to impart a certain extra special milk flavor ..

But...but...but...you can't drink the cereal milk :eek::cry::shock:

That's for the cats!!!!!! If you need a cat, I'm sure you can find one somewhere, but you can't drink the cereal milk and ignore the poor starving little kittens. :cry:

P.S. The same thing goes with the little bags of cat meats the butchers tuck inside the dead chickens and turkeys at the store. :thumb:

I have no problem drinking the cereal milk left in the bowl. It just takes too long to spoon it out, but to each his own. Nothing wrong with either way. But @cats5365 I did read on the internet that cats are lactose intolerant and shouldn't get any milk. I have no idea if that's true (even though I did read it on the internet), but our one cat throws up every once in awhile so I don't want to take a chance on aggravating that. Speaking of milk, wasn't there a big deal a year or so ago about cereal milk that you could buy? What ever happened with that?

Janet, cats puke even without milk. They also have hairballs. Doesn't prove a thing, either way.

Some cats are lactose intolerant, but I think it may depend on how much they consume. The family had one cat that could eat a little bit of cheese, but anything else would cause paint peeling, explosive, Hershey squirts. :evil::shock::evil:

My late Chessie thought Honey Nut Cheerio milk was heaven in a bowl, and would be quite upset if I didn't let her finish the bottom of the bowl. :pervy:

Ah ha! Just looked it up and here's the scoop.

Not all adult cats are lactose intolerant, but many are. Lactose intolerant cats may vomit, become gassy or "gurgly," have soft stool or even outright ........ after ingesting milk. If a cat enjoys milk and suffers none of these side-effects from it, then I consider it a healthful treat.

I had only read a short article about milk and cats because I always thought it was good to give cats milk so I was surprised about the lactose intolerance issue. I don't give our cats milk so I didn't pursue it further. This was a more extensive article.

I think some of the anti-milk advice came to counter the old myths that cats were supposed to have milk instead of balanced cat diet. I've had a few cats that got really barfy if I let them have too much milk, especially if it didn't have the extra sugar from being cereal milk.

FWIW, if your cat enjoys a little yoghurt treat, it can be helpful to share some of the live culture stuff with them if they are having tummy problems or a round of antibiotics. I would give them the meds in the mornings, and then around noonish let them have a spoon of yoghurt to replace the gut bugs that were killed of by the meds.

Sounds like a good idea. You just reminded me that Mike has yogurt in the mornings and sometimes our one cat would beg for a few licks when he was done. Never seemed to bother her, but it certainly wasn't much at all. I'd think the active cultures might be beneficial.

This was prescribed for a kitten I had with a severe open wound on one leg. He was on antibiotics at the time.

Good morning. I've decided that Christmas is bad for my health. Not only did I gain a few pounds, but yesterday I got up from the couch and threw my back out. That's what I get for cleaning up Christmas decorations. Fortunately my trusty TENS has saved the day. The back is much better this morning. I'll be able to enjoy my cereal milk this morning.
