But...but...but...you can't drink the cereal milkHola ..
From the "Character Flaw or Am I Not Alone" File ::
When the last bit of cereal has been spooned out of the bowl, I always have residual milk left .. yet, I have never been able to bring myself to "drinking" that milk out of the bowl .. I don't know why, but I just continue to use the spoon until the milk is gone .. (and no, I've never tried to lap it out like a cat ..) ..
I'll add that Honey Nut Cheerios seem to impart a certain extra special milk flavor ..

Janet, cats puke even without milk. They also have hairballs. Doesn't prove a thing, either way.I have no problem drinking the cereal milk left in the bowl. It just takes too long to spoon it out, but to each his own. Nothing wrong with either way. But @cats5365 I did read on the internet that cats are lactose intolerant and shouldn't get any milk. I have no idea if that's true (even though I did read it on the internet), but our one cat throws up every once in awhile so I don't want to take a chance on aggravating that. Speaking of milk, wasn't there a big deal a year or so ago about cereal milk that you could buy? What ever happened with that?

Some cats are lactose intolerant, but I think it may depend on how much they consume. The family had one cat that could eat a little bit of cheese, but anything else would cause paint peeling, explosive, Hershey squirts.I have no problem drinking the cereal milk left in the bowl. I think some of the anti-milk advice came to counter the old myths that cats were supposed to have milk instead of balanced cat diet. I've had a few cats that got really barfy if I let them have too much milk, especially if it didn't have the extra sugar from being cereal milk.Ah ha! Just looked it up and here's the scoop.
Not all adult cats are lactose intolerant, but many are. Lactose intolerant cats may vomit, become gassy or "gurgly," have soft stool or even outright ........ after ingesting milk. If a cat enjoys milk and suffers none of these side-effects from it, then I consider it a healthful treat.
I had only read a short article about milk and cats because I always thought it was good to give cats milk so I was surprised about the lactose intolerance issue. I don't give our cats milk so I didn't pursue it further. This was a more extensive article.

FWIW, if your cat enjoys a little yoghurt treat, it can be helpful to share some of the live culture stuff with them if they are having tummy problems or a round of antibiotics. I would give them the meds in the mornings, and then around noonish let them have a spoon of yoghurt to replace the gut bugs that were killed of by the meds.
This was prescribed for a kitten I had with a severe open wound on one leg. He was on antibiotics at the time.FWIW, if your cat enjoys a little yoghurt treat, it can be helpful to share some of the live culture stuff with them if they are having tummy problems or a round of antibiotics. Our Abby can be elsewhere in the house, but always comes running when she hears that certain sound......the yogurt lid being taken off!View attachment 862507
