Willie...the router is built into the modem. And yes...I confuse easily when I can't figure out what they're talking about. But I'm stubborn and don't give up...;)Much more searching through Comcast site, I finally found that I have both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz...

Since we are talking about outdoor cameras, I am looking for a wireless camera that I can add to my computer for watching my bird feeders. I don't want to add it to my ring system or store on the cloud. Being able to save to/view on my laptop would be all I need. Any recommendations?

The one Sandra (yiddle) linked to earlier looked pretty good to me .. she may have run across some others as well ..

There are a lot of wireless, rechargeable cameras listed on Amazon. I did notice some that could be viewed on a tablet, so there may have been others that will work with your PC. I also have a limited amount I can spend, which was another factor in what I was looking at.

I opted for rechargeable because I don't have the ability to hard wire one to run it. If that's not a problem for you, there are also many of those that offer wireless capability.

If I order it, I will have it shipped to my daughter's address so I know it won't disappear...;) SIL can bring it over when he comes to put it up for me...:)

I might not have read the whole description fully, but, if you can send a signal to a Wifi phone, you should be able to send it to a tablet / PC or even a TV with built in WiFi ..

EDIT .. I take back the PC and TV .. looks like it requires it's own app, so phone / tablet may be it ..

There's an app called BlueStacks that's an android emulator that could be downloaded to a laptop...so there is a possibility to use it on one, but....it would take more searching for another model than the one I'm looking at.

@Diver9543 it wouldn't be suited for what you want to use it for, because the AI in it will only detect humans... Or perhaps anything as large as a person? I didn't find anything in all of the questions listed that would indicate it would alert on anything other than people, just that it wouldn't detect cats, dogs or leafs blowing in the wind.

A belated congrats @Uncle Willie, my 10 year ECF anniversary will be in August.

@yiddleboge6 ... nice to see you posting again.

My eyes have been giving me trouble, so I've not been as active as I used to be ... some new glasses in a couple weeks should make it easier to be on-line regularly again.

@Diver9543 ...This one will detect anything moving. There were a number of reviews with people watching birds and squirrels... Using the Cloud service isn't required. You can use a micro SD card instead.

There's also the ability to order a solar charger you could use for a number of months instead of taking it out of the bracket to charge. You would still need the BlueStacks app to put it on your PC.     There has been so much news about things that are wrong with the world lately. I wanted to share a bit of the magic that still exists if you open your eyes and heart to it. I found this on one of the benches when I was doing my morning laps around the park. I hope you all can find a little bit of magic in your own parts of the universe.

    This morning as I'm getting things together to head to the farm, my doorbell rang. YEA!!! Vape mail! My postie just delivered my liter of nicotine. It was the one reason I was hesitant about leaving for the farm. I really didn't want to have it sitting on my porch all day. I'm leaving it in the original bottle and already put it in the freezer. Now I hope I live long enough to use it. lol
