Good morning!

th

Going to a store in a couple of hours...my second journey out into the big ole world since March. I have a refund check for about $50...so I'm gonna try to get a couple of gazing balls/stands...hope they're not out of them. Oh well...I'm a woman, I'll find something to blow it on! If nothing else I'll just shop till I drop, whatever catches my eye!
Lemme see...I need more coffee, more vaping, need to splash cold water on my face to wake up, put my wighat on,..oh, I guess i should probably get dressed too...

Hope all of you have a good day!

I think that's the secret...reading requires one to use their imagination, and everyone reading the description of what's happening in the book will picture it their own way.
Everyone's imagination see's a different picture play out.
How can a movie match all the different mental pictures ... they can't. So to some it's a good movie according to how they projected it in their mind, and to others it's a disappointment.
Makes me think of .."is that juice any good" ... all taste buds are different too :p
I used to love writing letters to friends. That was back when people weren't jacked into social media, video calls didn't exist, and you called someone because you wanted to have a meaningful conversation and couldn't do it in person. Taking the time to consider the message, and the response, is something that I think is lacking with a lot of communication in today's world.

Too much instant gratification leaves exchanges feeling cheap, a good part of the value lies in the anticipation. Instead of anticipation, new generations adapted to the world that they grew up in, delayed gratification often results in anger, frustration, and sadness now. The balance is way off, lots of talking with poor communication.

Then again, I'm not the most social person. I probably have a different perspective on all of this than most people. And the world has moved on, and keeps moving on, leaving me behind, to reflect on what was, in my mind, better days. Bob Dylan said it better than I ever could.

The one series of movies made that I think pretty much matched what I imagined while reading (several times) was Peter Jackson's portrayal of "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit". For me, they were all very well done.
The fairly old "Milagro Beanfield War" was very close to the book. At least one character was used to replace two in the book, but still very close.

If anyone is a fan of medieval historical fiction…which I am…Sharon Kay Penman and Elizabeth Chadwick are considered two of the best. Their books are meticulously researched and they both write very well.

It's hard to beat Bernard Cornwell .. :)

Good morning Fran and Bea. Oh my, those babies and their hats are so funny!

It's going to be a rainy, T-stormy day here. I have a door to paint and then I might have to think of something interesting to cook in the kitchen. It's not going to be a nice day to be outside, but we'll see. Our contractor is going to be stopping over today to help us pick out a front door. Never figured it was going to be so complicated - style, finish, color, type of glass...

Good morning!

Cloudy here this morning! Most interesting books offered will be on my reading list......I have so many now that I've yet to read, but continuously add more. Reading is such a pleasure but I get so lost in them that everything else goes by the wayside.....don't know how to monitor myself, and not sure I want to.

Daughter and sil were here for a visit the other day and will be here again today for their birthdays......sil b/d was yesterday, and our daughter's is today.....had to get two cakes......horrors! :) Publix makes the most delicious and beautifully designed cakes!

Have any of you read Lee Child's books with his protagonist Jack Reaper? If yes what do you think? My three favorite fiction writers are John Grisham, Michael Connely and Greg Iles. Given that should I give Lee Child a try?
I've read and enjoyed the Jack Reacher series. I also have to agree that the Jack Reacher in my mind is nothing like Tom Cruise. Not only is he a bad actor but his ego could sink a cruise ship.
