Hola .. :(

This morning, I decided to have breakfast and coffee at a Mom & Pop place I sometimes frequent .. the buzz was all around an impending shutdown for eateries / bars, etc .. and, being that I pretty much live in the Red Belt, it was all about the Governor has no power to shut down anything and neither does the Health Dept ..

Well, I don't know the legalities of it all, but I don't think there is any conspiracy involved .. the numbers are the numbers .. logic would say, if the numbers are on the rise, that's not a good sign, what should we do to protect the general populace .. ??

Of course, around here, the ongoing theory is people are not really dying from Covid in the high numbers, it's that the Medical Industrial Complex is simply marking even non-Covid deaths as being Covid .. and, people believe it ..

During the last shutdown, some independent places stayed open in defiance of the order .. they were not punished, that I know of, in any substantive way .. chains and franchises did abide ..

In my area, we still have a good portion of folks that are non-maskers .. places have given up trying to get them to mask up, simply because of the blow-back these folks throw out when asked to follow the clearly posted rules .. a minimum wage employee is not and should not, be an enforcer ..

As well, jobs go begging .. there is hardly a place that does not have a Help Wanted sign .. and, I just don't understand it .. I guess folks are just choosing to stay home and are still collecting unemployment ..

Dr. Birx carefully explained early on that if a person died and happened to also have Covid19 they were counted as a Covid case even though some other countries didn't count them that way. Didn't make sense to me at the time and still doesn't, but it probably explains why some people don't believe the numbers. I know of 2 women in the medical field who were pretty sick with what they were sure was Covid and were told they weren't sick enough to be hospitalized so they wouldn't give them a script to get the Covid test. Actually one of the women was told by a doc after she was back at work that he was sure she had had Covid. Also, my daughter's neighbor went to be tested and after waiting for something like 2 hours just left and went home without being tested. She later was notified by mail that she tested positive. It was on the news where death certificates had to be corrected because deaths were being "assumed" to be Covid when they weren't. So no, I don't believe the numbers, not that that makes any difference.

I was thinking of you earlier today when I was at the grocery store doing a large shopping trip. Haven't done one of those in quite awhile. I'd shopped all the produce and was back at the meat cases when it suddenly occurred to me that I didn't have my mask on! I never go anywhere without it and usually put it on before I even get out of the car and there I was, bare faced! Nobody said a word to me and I bet I was the only person in the whole store without a mask. Guess my head was just filled with all the things I didn't want to forget and forgot all about the mask!

The other day Mike said he saw a guy in a local convenience store wearing a headband over his mouth. And he had to move the headband away from his mouth to talk. Duh. Generally though, it's rare around here to see anyone without a mask.

I have no idea why anyone would think wearing or not wearing a mask is political except that the media makes EVERYTHING political theses days. It doesn't seem like much of a sacrifice to just wear one while out and around other people, but some people are obsessed about it. We had a neighbor all upset because her neighbor was alone, in his own back yard trimming a bush and was not wearing a mask.

Yeah, well, in my neck of the woods, there are factions that simply think any death, regardless of whether the person had Covid or not, are counted as Covid deaths .. IOW, if you died of a car wreck, and had no Covid, the Medical Industrial Complex is still counting you as a Covid death ..

Okay - I thought this thread was a political free zone and this type of discussion was only for the outside. . .

At least it was - when I posted an FYI . . . I don't get it, especially when people are now discussing questionable "facts" and possibly "false" reports that have been politicized . . . Just Sayin' . . .

At AKC (American Kennel Club) dog shows, if you are not wearing a mask you can be "benched", meaning a committee of members of the sponsoring club plus AKC reps, meet to determine the consequences. You can be banned from AKC shows for 6 months or more. People don't want to be banned, so compliance is pretty strong.

Sad news, Geordi's breeder (ICU nurse) tested positive for COVID several days ago. She is still an avid smoker despite all my attempts to convert her. Yes, she vapes sometimes but still smokes like a chimney. She is doing OK, shortness of breath is not unusual for her. Good news is her husband, also a nurse (ER nurse) has tested negative so far.

Other very sad news is Chris (breeder) called me today all in a mess. Geordi's mother passed away today. Very sudden, she ate this morning, played with Geordi's sister, everything seemed normal . Chris was taking a shower, Issa ran into the bathroom, yelped, and died. No clue what caused it and right now they have other expenses to deal with to make an autopsy out of the question so we will never know. Issa was 11 1/2 years old and had seemed to be in good health.

It has not been a good day... tomorrow will be better.

Good morning. We're headed to our daughter's house to babysit the boys tonight. Then tomorrow morning we're all going apple picking. Not a whole lot of apples left we're told, but it will still be nice to be walking around in an orchard with the boys. We just have to make sure the littlest guy doesn't start throwing the apples! He gets all excited running around with the other 3 kids and you never know what he's going to do!

Well, it looks like I need to make a trip to Home Depot. Yesterday, I was washing dishes and heard a pop followed by another and then the sink dropped down. We remodeled our kitchen about 12 years ago and had an "under-mount" sink installed. I will need to get some glue and clear out the cleaning supplies under the sink and see what I can do to remount the sink. The cleanup and prepping of the sink edge and underside of the counter will be the hard part. And deer season starts tomorrow!!!

I'd be down in the basement cutting 2x4's to prop up that sink for the time being, lol. Deer season has priority!!!

    Hola .. :)

Although I don't have a sink of that type myself, I did help a buddy install one a few years back .. in addition to the liquid nails we used to seal and glue it in place, we also drilled about 6 pilot holes around the under sink lip and secured it with some very short wood screws into the counter top underlayment from below .. his was stainless .. I don't know if that would work on any other material ..

    Just a thought ..

I didn't use 2x4s but I did use some 1x1 strips that my daughter had brought from work. Cut them and have one on each side of the sink. When I fix it, I may figure out a way to keep them there just as an added safety measure. Although, I now know how I am going to hold the sink in place while the new glue is setting up.

Our countertops are made from acrylic of some kind and I wouldn't want to try and put a screw through it even with pre-drilling a screw hole. It isn't all that thick, less than 1/2 inch.

I was in the process of writing a post and a bit of a burning cotton taste hit me. The first thing I checked was to make sure I had opened the juice flow, nope, juice flow was open. It wouldn't be the first time I neglected opening the juice flow after filling a tank. I then checked the date and noted that re-wicking had lasted 23 days. The only reason I knew how long it was is that I just happened to realize I re-wicked on the 1st of the month. 5 minutes later and hopefully, I will get another 23 days of maintenance-free vaping.
