Hi Janet!

But I just have to say that you n Mike wear me out and I have to go rest awhile after reading and then imagining doing all the things that you two do every day!

It may sound like a lot, but we don't get started until 10:00-11:00 and we take lots of breaks. I have a TO DO list that I check every morning and then decide what I feel like doing. Gives me a sense of accomplishment to cross things off the list. Now our daughter and niece - they would REALLY impress you. Of course they're 1/2 our age so there is that.

Good morning everyone .

Woke up to snow on the ground and still coming down.

Since it's so close to Thanksgiving I've been thinking...over the years it's almost always that the mothers/ grandmothers and g-grandmothers always do the cooking, for years n years... isn't it time that the kids n grandkids take over and do it for them for a change?

( and no, I haven't done the cooking in years...tho I HAVE helped...occasionally :p)

Snow! I'm definitely not ready for snow!

Actually our daughter and I were splitting making the food and eating at her house. Then it turned out that our son and family were going to be around so we wanted them to join us. He won't cross the state line as per our governor's rules. Our daughter doesn't care so we're having dinner here. We're together once a week anyway. Oh, and Mike is making the dressing. I'm not sure what got into him, but a few years ago he decided he wanted to make the dressing. We all loved the recipe and he did it so well that he's got that job every year. It's really a big help. And speaking of help, everybody helps with the dishes while dodging the kiddos. The noise and intense energy is what wears us out, but the little ones will only be little for a short time and I don't want to miss any of it.

No luck for my first day out this season. Walking back to the Jeep, I had been walking through the real slick mud and got my leg caught on a briar twisting my left knee and pulling my back. Decided to go ahead an come home vice staying with my buddy. I'm sitting here in my fat guy after eating dinner and taking my pills so now all is well with the .

Good Monday morning! :) Very pleasant with clear skies and in the 60s. Out to dinner last night at Longhorn with daughter and sil and my, was it nice........they have disposable menus that are torn up after ordering.....felt very comfortable there.

I stopped into our local Giant grocery store the other day and both shelves with paper towels and tp were empty. The store I went to yesterday still had them on the shelves, but there was a sign up that only 1 pkg per shopper was allowed. Fortunately I've got 2 of the big pkgs of tp and 1 of paper towels so we're good for a long while. Also, I always have enough food in the cupboards and freezer to keep us going for weeks. I would just get worried if I couldn't get milk and eggs.
Our stores here seem to be well stocked here although one package of paper goods is still in effect. No real shortages, as of yet......but, we're stocked!

Good morning everyone .

Snow! It's been a mighty long time since we've experienced it.....like looking at it, but that's it! :)

My son and family are going to his in-laws since it's their turn.....every other year Thanksgiving.

We got out-voted and daughter and sil insisted on dinner at a restaurant at the beach........This is the 3rd Thanksgiving that I haven't cooked and even though I miss seeing everyone at the dining room table, it's really easy to get used to no shopping, prepping, etc. Afterwards, we'll come back home and have some desserts...... There will be 6 of us this Thanksgiving but.........Christmas is around the corner and that one is mine and I'm not ready to give that up... nope!

Ouch! Hoping your back is better by now.....twisting your knee can't be fun, either.

Misty Monday here, in between the rain drops.

It does help that the temp is above freezing, snow still about 2500' higher than we are. Good place for it!

Morning all! Would someone please send in the ark? It's pouring rain here and several roads are now flooded. I had to dodge some big puddles on my way into work and it's gotten worse since. On the plus side, I managed to sneak into a parking space close to the door so I wasn't a drowned rat by the time I got inside.

I'm happy it's a short week, I have lots to do at home (long list like Janet's but nothing has been crossed off!). Thanksgiving will be delayed for us. Our oven completely died (it was working sometimes) and the new one won't be installed until Dec. 3rd. Rather than stress trying to juggle all the bits in the toaster oven for just the two of us, we'll have our Thanksgiving meal sometime in December, maybe even for Christmas. I'm craving stuffing, roasted root veggies and cranberry sauce. Please eat a lot and enjoy for me!

@WhiteHighlights . . .

I 'm sure you've already considered going out somewhere to get stuff for Thanksgiving dinner . . . SO - Just as an FYI:

Many grocery stores and local restaurants are offering complete meals togo at reasonable prices . . . As an example, Publix & Winn-Dixie have Thanksgiving w/ all the major basic fixings already cooked in a box for approximately:$50, all ya' really need to do is reheat (which you can do via toaster oven / microwave) . . . .ALSO - Boston Market is open and offering Thanksgiving dinner platers to go or eat in, as are a number oflocal restaurants . . . Just a thought . . . .;)

BTW: Local "Pub" having dinner from 11am - midnight for $15 a huge plate w/ $5 going to a local HIV/AIDS Organization . . . WIN -WIN . . .

You reminded me of an incident some years ago , when I was still hunting....We had a deer blind on a small incline..I stepped outside to,,um,,," tinkle"..as I was doing that a deer came walking down the path, no more than 10 ft. from where I was squatting! heading for the feed..he was right beside me, his left leg up, looking at me!

My rifle was of course in the deer blind and my pants were down:( He had a good-size rack, too!!!:(

Yes, we've seen the ads for the places doing meals. My MIL used to do that once she decided she wasn't up to all the cooking. However, the DH is (a) a good cook and (b) on a low salt diet and those prepared meals would be loaded with it. He's been bad lately and when he went in to the doc as a follow up, his BP was way up. He has to behave and in 2 weeks send his doc a report with his daily BP. Even before COVID, it was tough going out to eat because we generally prefer his cooking. I admit I am spoiled.

Actually, we're fine with deferring holidays, it's almost a tradition. My family often celebrated Christmas in August up in VT. With my sister in Maine and brother(s) in NH (one is an adopted family member), it was easier to avoid potential snow storms and we had fun at the lake. When my sister lived in MA, we had Thanksgiving on Friday. She'd have a day off to get organized and clean before we arrived and if something was needed for the meal, the stores were open on Friday. We're flexible LOL.

Hola .. :)

Like breakfast for dinner .. ;)

London fog this AM was thick as I've seen it in a while and lasted till about 9 AM ..

Putzed around the house yesterday doing this and that .. home made fried shrimp with Cajun rice and some broccoli on the side for dinner .. since I can't go in and eat anywhere legal, a guy has to improvise .. I was going to make some Red Lobster style cheddar biscuits, but decided that would be too much .. drank a bottle of wine (fruit of the vine .. :)) ..

Settled in to start a binge watch of "Hanna" on Amazon Prime .. pretty good so far ..

After a career in the US Navy, I'm used to having delayed holidays, if at all.
I got vape mail today! A couple of months ago, I was one of ten winners in an Innokin giveaway. Today, I finally received the ARES-2 and ARES-2 LE. I'm excited about using a different style of tank and also one that holds more than 2 ml of ejuice. I will give my opinion on the two of them in a while.

Roasted cauliflower, brussel sprouts, carrots and onions with a side of cranberry relish and yeast rolls are our traditional Thanksgiving Day meal. Then we splurge on calories with either pumpkin cake or pumpkin cheesecake. Here is the pumpkin cake recipe for anyone who wants a change from pumpkin pie. I got it from my mother-in-law who got it while they lived in Ohio years ago. It was the Grand Champion for several years at the Circleville, Ohio Pumpkin Festival.

    GRAND CHAMPION PUMPKIN CAKE
    3/4 c butter
    3 eggs
    2¾ c flour
    ½ t salt
    1/4 t ginger
    1½ c pumpkin
    1 T baking powder
    2 t cinnamon
    1/4 t cloves
    1½ c sugar
    1 c buttermilk
    1½ t soda
    1/4 t allspice

Combine; bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes in greased/floured 9x13 cake pan. You can top with your favorite white icing but we don’t…we love it plain.

Edit: I found this reference to the cake at ~Ohio Thoughts~: Grand Champion Pumpkin Cake

It seems my recipe is slightly different. It could be my MIL changed it - I don’t remember…

These are the ARES-2 and ARES-2 LE that I won in an Innokin giveaway. They arrived this morning and after a cup or 2 of coffee, I decided to give them a go after watching the videos on the Innokin website. Coiling has not been one of my strong suits even though I have been using RBAs for the last 4 years. I did 7 wraps 26ga SS316 and they came out at .55Ω. I decided to try the coil tool for a spaced coil and it was better than using the 2.5mm machine screw I usually use. I was blown away by the ease of using the build deck and installing the coil. I have never put in a coil as easily as these went in. Watching the P. Busardo video really was the key. I have been spoiled using the Kayfun V3 Mini with the top fill. The sliding top on the ARES is not only easy to use but I really like that it is childproof, the drip-tip has to be removed to slid the fill port open. I really can't talk about the flavor because I only vape unflavored. I built both tanks and they do look nice on my Solo's and I really look forward to using a tank that holds more than 2mm of ejuice. The Kayfuns will still be used in rotation, I just don't know how long it'll be until I use them. I'm having high hopes about the ARES tanks. Sorry, got a bit long-winded.

Never heard of the Ares before your post ... just did a little googling and YouTubing about it. Looks like a right nice atty. Similar to my Hastur which is currently my favorite topper. I think you should like.

Oh my, this looks delicious! We've already got dinner planned, but no reason I can't make it after Thanksgiving! Does it freeze well? Looks like it should and that way we can eat 1/2 and save 1/2 for later. Ha Ha! You'd think I was trying to gain weight.

Good morning. It's only going up to 48 today so a bit chilly. Today we're making the stuffing/dressing, and cheesecake/pumpkin pie and broccoli casserole. And, of course, more clean up. Looks like we're going to have our daughter and family overnight on Thanksgiving. It'll be a lot easier than packing everything up and driving an hour home after a hectic day.

Mike calls it stuffing and I call it dressing. In my mind stuffing is in the bird and dressing is in a casserole dish. Don't know why it's called dressing - it's not dressing anything, it's a side dish.
