Good afternoon, All. Busy day today. I re-wicked both of the Ares, wow, I had forgotten how dirty wicks can get when using flavors. I have two flavors that are good at shake & vape so I made a couple batches and have them steeping in my vanity. It is dark and cool there so they should do well there.
Good morning...

STILL not a speck of snow!!!WHAT??!!:D
Well, we are getting snow here again. With the snow we got on Sunday, we are getting more now. They are forecasting 1 -3 inches today. I am really glad I don't have to go out in it.
Right now I don't subscribe to any of the services like Netflix or Disney+. I'm thinking of subscribing to something but I don't which to choose. Do any of you subscribe to them and which would you recommend I might try? I do have DirecTV with Starz and HBO, which gives me HBO Max but I'm looking for more out of my service but I don't want to give any more money to DirecTV.

I’m far from an expert on tv stuff. We had Direct TV at home but I canceled it after hubs passed. Here I don’t have traditional TV but have a Roku. I can watch Netflix from my daughters account. I get Hulu for $5.99 a month. I also have Amazon Prime and get movies from there. I just finished 2 months of Starz for .99c a month.

I subscribe to most of them .. Netflix, by a large margin, IMO, has the best variety .. Disney+ is fairly thin on content unless you've got kids that sit glued to the same shows over and over again, but it's pretty cheap .. a binge watch of "The Mandalorian" is worth a months subscription, they no longer offer a free trial I don't think .. plus, you get Nat Geo and the Marvel Universe (at least most of it) .. but after a while it's pretty slim pickin's ..

HULU is pretty good for the money (Black Friday you could have bagged $1.99 per month for a year) .. they have added FX so that's a plus, and "Handmaiden's Tale" is a must see, IMO ..

Apple TV is still pretty thin on original content ..

Amazon Prime is OK, but unless you do a lot of Amazon Shopping / Kindle Reading etc, you can tap out on the shows fairly quick ..

What was your favorite .. ?? I liked "Black Sails", "Outlander", "Spanish Princess", "Vida", "Texas Rising", among others ..
Can't say I had a fav but now I need another .99c a month thing cause I didn't watch any of those.

I'm thinking of subscribing to something but I don't which to choose.

    1) Netflix - More variety; very diverse, vast and extensive library to choose from. Unless you plan on watching more the 1 show at the same time on different devices - get the basic plan $8.99 ( price is going up soon $9.99)

    2) HULU - Although missed the $1.99 sale, still affordable $5.99 w/Ads or prepay for the year for $69.99 or get with no ads for the majority of programs $11.99 (they do not offer yearly subscription yet). They also have "Live TV" if you want to get rid of DiectTV.

    3) Disney - Yes, very limited in their offerings, but worth it at $5.99 if you like Disney Movies/shows, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographics.

BTW: Prices are going up across all services. Also, depending what device you use - like Roku - there are a number of other streaming services/channels - many of them free with classic films/shows.

I also get 2 free services via my local library that I enjoy: Hoopla & Kanopy

Hubby got a 75" TV for Christmas/Chaunakah (sp?). I got a set of weave poles (for dog agility, where the dog powers through 12 upright poles). I made out like a bandit because I benefit from both! TV has stuff built in. We subscribe to Netflix, Amazon Prime, we do Disney some months to watch Star Trek Discovery. We mostly watch Netflix (we binge on the Marvel series) and get the most benefit from that (movies and network series). Because we subscribe to Amazon Prime for business and purchasing, we get the benefits. Some good movies and I get lots of yoga content I take advantage of. We have Hulu free from our Sprint phones but haven't really seen anything we are eager to watch. Son has the whole (so far) series of Yelowstone from his subscription (?) on a DVD I gave him at Thanksgiving for us when we will get when we see him for Christmas. Can't wait to binge on that! TV lately is poor. The few episodes of series we like were a few new episodes then done. I know it's from the pandemic, so what we have we enjoy. Being in the rural boonies, DSL (or phones) for internet, Dish for most TV, antennae for local stations, Comcast ifsnow running lines into our neighborhood we never thought would happen. Bring it on!!! DSL is so slow and if it rains, fagetaboutit! Dish, if it rains, fagetaboutit! We are looking forward to cable!!

    cute.
I've been outside 3 times today to sweep the snow off the satellite dish.
I know folks that use a SuperSoaker squirtgun that work well.

We've been happy with the ad-free 11.99 Hulu for quite awhile. There is a free app for news and locals too. Never seem to use the Amazon app on the tv, always trying to get more money from ya. We can't seem to get into the new Roku shows. Terrible with commercials!

And I'm still a pirate app guy. A little more work but the facebook groups make it easier. I watch mostly old stuff like Gunsmoke on it and Pre-50's series and movies. Wifey joins in when she discovers an older series and wants to watch the full series.

Sure beats the old plain cable days when we used to wait till 9pm a couple of days a week for a barely like show.

Only drawback is being stuck with comcast throwing their weight around out here being a monopoly. Looking forward to seeing t-mobile coming out here and eventually StarLink satellite. Heard good things about them both.

    Good morning!

For what it's worth, after reading yesterdays posts about tv shows...I have a streaming box along with Amazon Prime and I can watch just about any series/movie...
    free...at any time I choose.

When I first got it a couple of years ago I searched for Gone With The Wind just to see if I could get such an old movie and .voila!... there it was!

It also has "live tv" channels for news n such!

    It's awesome for a stay-at-home old broad!

oh..and to try to keep myself busy n entertained..I now crotchet winter hats while watching tv and play on-line Euchre...which I'm going to do right now :D

I'm glad you're ok Mike. A fall like that is bad for us senior folks..

Indeed ... I was quite relieved 'nothing broke'.

However, I did scare the 'bejebus' out of my daughter. She was just driving past on her way home from the birthday party and saw me laying on the ground. She jammed on the brakes to find out what happened. She thought maybe I had a heart attack.

I imagine that gave her a bad scare. Poor girl :( Happy ending though

Used to just throw snowballs at ours :)

Next time it's dry, maybe lightly spray it with a silicone or maybe something like Pam? I've read of people doing that, and the claim is that most of the time the snow doesn't stick. Our dish is now in a new location, and I can reach it with a broom, so haven't bothered. And, well, snow at our elevation is pretty rare (but can be substantial when it does fall....)
