GOOD MORNING!

th

The sun's shining:banana:

That's all I have..only on my first cuppa coffee...

Just checked the weather..it's supposed to start raining this afternoon:cry:

I WANT SNOW!!!:(

I feel your pain! It's going up to 58 here today with the rain starting shortly. Rats. Kate and the boys will be here overnight and I was hoping to drive around seeing Christmas lights. Not much fun doing that in the rain.

Since it will just be the 3 of us adults I splurged and got us each a steak. Haven't had one of those is so long I almost forget what they taste like. I do however remember that I love them! I'll make twice baked potatoes and broccoli casserole and glazed carrots for dinner. That'll be a nice treat to look forward to.

We found this silly little toy reindeer that poops M&Ms for the boys to play with. Hope I have enough M&Ms...

Thanks for that info. I suspected that was the case, but never bothered to actually measure my pot. I just know that the 9 cup water mark on my pot with 5 slightly rounded coffee scoops makes delicious coffee for me as long as it's a dark French roast coffee grounds.

Since I have to drink decaf it's become apparent to me that there's not a whole lot to choose from. If it's got to be decaf I at least want it to taste good so it's been interesting searching for some good stuff. I loved Tulley's but they went out of business. Then I tried Peet's and that's really good, but expensive. Surprisingly Dunkin Donuts medium blend is not bad especially if I sprinkle some cinnamon on top of the grounds.

Hola .. :)

Maxwell House Man here .. over the last year, I've been stocking up on the 48 OZ giant containers, probably have 12 or so set away for any possible coffee Apocalypse .. that's at least a years supply for me ..

Harkening back to the Days of Old, I still sprinkle a tiny bit of salt on top of a newly ready brew .. and, ain't nothin' like those first drips for a real heavy hit of Poor Man's Expresso ..

"I like it hot,
I like it cold,
I like it in the pot nine days old .. "

Don't know why that popped into what's left of my brain ..

Morning, all.

Cold here, finally. Yesterday's high was mid 40's, probably won't make that today. We do need at least a week or so below freezing to knock down the bugs for spring, maybe this will be the stretch...

Yep, a few grains of salt will precipitate much of the acid and oil out, sometimes helpful for Columbian blends.

Well, I never knew the tech side of it .. my Mother used to do it when I was a kid with the percolator .. then, later, I'd see the Army cooks sprinkling in some when they made a new batch .. just stuck with me, I guess ..

We're pretty much stuck on whole bean French roast. Darker roasts don't have the same issues with acid, but I still use a pinch of salt for most restaurant coffee, which is usually a lighter, Columbian roast. Well, when we had restaurants!

I'm a Folger's guy after yrs of MH. Started to notice an aftertaste with MH. I've never gotten coffee down to a science. Tried Peets and couldn't tell the diff. Once in a great while I make a great pot and it's YOWSA, lol. I'm ok with it being an occasional surprise.

Merry Christmas to all our ECF friends from Mike and Janet. We send out this Christmas letter each year and this year wanted to include all our friends at ECF.

The pdf file is too large to upload directly to ECF, I hope this Dropbox link works for 'you'.

I was a naughty boy and Santa will probably fill my stocking with coal. I found out that my bud Steven was also going to be alone for Christmas so I invited him over and I'll be making Cornish Game Hens for dinner. Off I went to do the shopping. I was lucky and found the last two hens. There was a young gentleman stocking the area so I approached him, holding up the hen I spread my hands about 12 inches apart and asked him how long it had to be soaked to reach full size. His eyes widened, jaw slacked, and he started stammeriung. I could no longer keep a straight face and started laughing. He grinned real big and also started laughing. When we each stopped laughing he thanked me for the humor and I went on my way. I looked back and he was still chuckling as he continued restocking the freezer.

I forgot all about the salt! Thanks for the reminder. There was some talk about it here awhile ago and I forgot all about it. I'll have to try it when I try a new coffee that needs some help. My landlord used to add some cocoa to the grounds which was pretty nice. Haven't done that in years.

Well, we were awakened at 3:48 this morning by our county alert system to warn us of the pending freeze. It was kinda warm all day until about an hour ago, and we had to close the sliders cause the wind picked up and the temps must have dropped at least 10-15o.

Probably won't be on tomorrow so wishing each of you a Blessed and Merry Christmas!
