Morning, misfits.

Yeah, bring back the news, and take it away from the entertainment world. News should NOT be a for profit show...

Meanwhile...

Good morning!

Damm...every time I come on here every body is gone!

I guess I better set my alarm clock for earlier...

There's been approx. 10 hrs of sunshine in the past month or so! Otherwise just cloudy grey skies..sorta like the state of this country... I never thought I'd see such horror in my lifetime...

I have to try to keep telling myself that better times are coming..

Be safe!!!

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Over the last few weeks, I got it in my head that it was time to better organize my workshop and clean up years of debris (yes, I know) .. I have a back room area that's really only been there for storage, mainly wood, some guitars out of my own collection and various bits of this and that ..

At any rate, I have a side door that's got a deadbolt and a knob lock as well, and I had not opened that door in at least 10 years .. I needed it open so I could more easily move stuff around .. deadbolt and knob lock rusted solid .. no amount of penetrating oil or WD40, large plyers, etc, could get them to budge .. ended up popping off the hinge pins from the outside to get it open .. and, it's a metal reinforced door ..

This has proven to me once again, that I am just too old for this kind of thing .. now, I need to remount the door and get new locks .. and it's not exactly warm out there today ..

Uh oh. Sounds like either poor planning to do it when it's cold, or maybe should have planned a clean up more often. Not that I'm being critical mind you, we've got some stuff in the basement and attic that's been there for 32 years. Never know when we might want to take it out and look at it again... At least in our basement there's a sliding glass door we won't have to fight to open. We just replace it every few years when Mike smashes the glass with a stone from the lawn tractor.

I think you should have picked a warmer day. Can you get some help?

I'm guessing no one has ever had an unforeseen issue crop up unexpectedly in the middle of a project ..

I put the old metal reinforced steel door back in the frame, shimmed it up from the bottom to get it to sit right, drilled 12 pilot holes into the edge of the door itself and into the metal door jamb that it sits in, then drove 12 Torx screws through the door edge and into the jamb ..

Then, just to be on the safe side, just in case any Thieves have a power drill and the right Torx bit handy, I stacked 2x4's on top of each other on the inside of the door jamb and screwed those down ..

This was after I got done with what I needed to do .. so, if I don't need to open the door in the next 10 years, I'm pretty confident .. and, if I do, it's just a matter of removing a few dozen screws ..

My back will pay me in full, tonight or tomorrow, I'm sure ..

The above Post is just another example of me being a cheap skate .. the door itself was still fine .. I had the tools and materials laying around .. I'm not dying for a functional door, obviously .. and, I always prefer the simplest solution that's cheap ..

Lesson learned .. ?? If you leave a door closed and locked tight for 10 years, the dead bolt and locking knob won't hold up .. and, I paid good money for that hardware ..

Although I suppose a luthier doesn't have much use for a set of torches around the shop.

Given your luck if you ever have to open that door one or more of the screw heads will break off when trying to remove them or the screw will strip the whole on the way-out and just spin in place and not unscrew.

In that comes up ... you could try the fun way to get the door open.

Uh, nah, never happens... Especially "fun" since we're about an hour from anywhere that has parts and supplies.

But did you paint the 2x4s to match the wall?

If you have a Smart TV, search for "Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice" and see if you can get it .. I cannot speak more highly about a Retrospective .. charming, uplifting, Historically accurate .. it hits all the right buttons ..

Routing it through a Surround System or Hi-Fi just adds to the story ..

Good morning. Wow, we're having a heat wave! It's going up to 43 today! We've got sunshine and looks like not much change of rain for the next few days.

So now I've figured out how to crochet granny squares, now I gotta figure out how to hook them together. Thought it would be fun to make them different colors, but when the outside colors are not the same it poses a problem of which color to use to stitch them together. Looks like I have more work ahead of me, but that's part of the learning process.

Good morning/afternoon, All. I hope everyone is having a good day so far. I'm on my 3rd cup of coffee and just waiting on Steven to get here so we can get new LED lighting installed in the kitchen. Nothing fancy just basic ceiling lights. I don't know if I will know how to act with good even lighting in the kitchen.
I'm one of those that used tax prep software for my taxes last year and I've been waiting on my stimulus check. I just went to check my account to see what I had left until my SS check is deposited. Boom! My stimulus check was there and on a Sunday. I'm glad because I sort of spent more than I had planned on the new lights. Stay well and be safe.
