Sorry. I was really sick and stayed in bed for days. It was NOT Covid thank goodness.

No meme today. Instead here's a selfie of one of my Siamese cats Dax.

Ok, I started this in the morning..

I'm in year-end madness at work which leaves me brain dead by the end of the day. Reading the posts here helps me decompress. Right now I'm waiting for a telemedicine call from my neurologist (he's 30 min late which isn't unusual) so taking the opportunity to catch up here in the morning.

Please enjoy the day in a way that makes you happy on my behalf.
    then forgot to post it!

Afternoon update: I volunteered to make a run to the PO (we need stamps to send out W2s) so I got out early. The bad news was I guess I wasn't busy enough - tomorrow the bank is supposed to open up applications for PPP Round 2 and that will be my priority project. The website was supposed to have instructions available but I can't get past the acknowledgement that I set up an account. Ugh.

I hope this is helpful Janet...it's how I do it...and I'm NOT the best crotcheter in the world..just use a basic white or black or whatever color you choose...single crotchet all around the squares..then join each one together...again, whichever color/colors you choose.

It's your afghan...you make it like you want it!!

Evidently there's all kinds of ways to hook the squares together and some great videos to show me how. I did want the same color around them all so I added another row of white to them all and will hook them together with white. Yes, I'll post a picture when I get it done. Had to order a blunt needle with a BIG eye to weave in all those ends because it's taking forever with just the hook. It should arrive tomorrow. @Bea-FL I love the different squares you used! Mine are all the same.

    Hola .. :)

Not much of anything to report .. I made chicken and dumplings from scratch yesterday (I of course, did not grow the chicken, instead, I cheated by using rotisserie chicken from Kroger, they had them on sale at 2 for $10, I mean, you can't buy a raw chicken, skin it and cook it for much less that that ..) .. usually, I buy the square pre-made frozen dumplings, but I decided to make them myself this time ..

While I was at the Kroger yesterday, I picked up a few other things, I was surprised how busy it was .. and, BTW, what's up with bacon .. ?? 12 OZ package for $5.49 on sale .. ?? .. I'd not bought any bacon for a while, and felt some sticker shock on that .. and, yeah, gas prices have been on the upswing 'round these parts as well .. $2.59 / gallon as of this AM ..

Just too durn cold to get out and work in the yard, although it needs it .. plenty of debris to clean up and I've still not raked up the leaves .. oh, well, it will still be there .. (or maybe they will blow into my neighbors yards ..) ..

Mike, the Linda Ronstadt documentary was a CNN film .. I watched it on HBO MAX streaming .. included with my HBO Cable Subscription .. it shows up under Amazon Prime, but I put my Prime account on hold last month so I don't know if it's included or PPV .. if it's PPV, it's still well worth a watch .. IMO, anyway ..

Those rotisserie chickens are wonderful - it would cost you more to buy and roast it yourself and they're delicious. Kudos to you for making the pot pie from scratch even if you didn't grow your own chicken!

Don't worry about the leaves, God will take care of them.

    Good afternoon :)

Oops my post entered without me entering it....go figure!

I've limited my time on the computer for obvious reasons, but do visit my personal forums (garden & nutrition) on other platforms.

F/B would be dead to me, however, our family still communicates on a daily basis, and that is important....if we really want to connect, there is phone, e mail. In the last few days, we had a death in our family, and the phone was our main avenue of contact.

If friends want to communicate, nothing will stop them, one way or another.

So sorry to hear the bad news in your family. Yes, thank heavens we can reach each other by computer. I love texting because if I were to call my family members I'd be on the phone for an hour or 2, but texting lets me talk to anybody quickly and I don't have to disturb them.

Sorry. I was really sick and stayed in bed for days. It was NOT Covid thank goodness.

Good morning. It's a chilly 27 out on our deck. Geez, you'd think it was winter or something. I just put out some fresh suet and am watching a squirrel trying to make his way over to it. The feeder hangs from a rod off the railing and we threaded plastic bottles on the rod so he's having a hard time getting to it. He can't just jump to it because the feeder itself is made from metal which is coated in frost. Ha Ha! Take that you greedy little critter!

@Janet H I made those granny squares with bits of leftover yarns.

Yep, that's probably how the whole granny square got started in the first place. I had an aunt once who used leftover yarn to cover metal hangars so clothes wouldn't slide off. Works great and I still use them.

    Hola .. :)

Was browsing the lightfire site, deciding if I should order more Zenith coils for the ZLIDE and seeing if there were any deals .. decided it was probably time to change the coil on the ZLIDE / Aegis, so, got my stash box of coils out .. it appears I was on my 3rd coil, as there were still 2 new coils in the little box, the only box I had opened ..

I thought, Willie, this can't be right .. looked up my email confirmation and had ordered back in July .. I did not immediately start using the stuff .. but even if I allowed a month of waiting, that's still 5 months on 3 coils .. really .. ??

Now, I do still pocket an EVOD, so I'm not exclusively on the Aegis / ZLIDE, but still ..

After having installed a new coil, I realized I had forgot to prime it, so, I took it apart and did so .. is that really necessary if you fill it and leave it sit for a while .. ??

It'll probably be fine if it sat long enough for it to wick up the juice. I usually give it a few puffs without pushing the button at first just to make sure. I'm getting 4-6 weeks out of a coil so if you're also using your EVOD you'll get more weeks out of yours. Nice isn't it?

    Good morning Anise..

I've been wondering that for a while now...you'd think with the way things are now...isolation and all...that ECF would be even busier:confused:

The gloomy weather here in Mi. just makes it worse...

And this thread is even more deserted in the evening...:(

Ahhh...how I yearn for the good ole days...

    Hola .. :)

Well, Kay .. it's kind of been general Deadsville here as well as the only other Forum I frequent .. usually, it's during the Summer months that things tend to slow .. right now, I suppose I could theorize that ::

    1) Post-Holiday Fatigue along with Winter Blues are in play
    2) Burn-out from the period stretching from November to Now due to obvious factors
    3) Covid Burn-out

Let's face it .. many if not most of us are just plain tired .. I know I am .. it's a mental fatigue, a brain drain ..

At any rate, ECF is a far cry from it's hey-day .. how ever things go in the Future, I treasure my time on ECF and all the folks that have come and gone along with those that stayed ..

I sincerely hope the Collective does not give up ..

Well I know what's right, I got just one life
in a world that keeps on pushin' me around
but I'll stand my ground, and I won't back down

It's Tom Petty on Guitar and Harmony on this great take by Johnny Cash ::
