Morning, Kay. Guess the rest of the mob are lounging in ;)

Rain's back, but we did see a bright light in the sky yesterday. A little. Wonder what it is...

Looking forward to our annual sun festival on June 31st.

Good evening. Hey Kay! It's snowing here! We've got 2-1/2 to 3" so far. It's supposed to snow all day tomorrow, 3-6" with blustery winds. So far the temps have stayed cold so we're not getting the rain and sleet they were calling for - Yay!

This afternoon 3 deer walked across the lawn and the one deer had a lot of snow on his head and along his back. Must have been sleeping out in the open. They do that in the rain and snow like the weather wasn't even happening.

I could see the snow falling and the birds eating the suet like crazy at the feeder from the kitchen window while I made a big pot of meatballs and sauce. Guess you know what we had for dinner. Yumm!

Good morning. Looks like we did get snow during the night, maybe 4" total. It's supposed to snow most of the day today although it hasn't started back up again - yet. Fortunately we don't have to go anywhere today so we'll just stay put. It looks pretty out there, but the wind has kicked up and knocked all the snow off the trees, but the ground is still clean and pristine.

Morning all.

Heat wave here, overnight low about 45!

Got our first covid dose yesterday, easy peasy :)

We've been with the same HMO for 30 + years, and did they have it together!

Due to a swamped web site (for appointments) it wasn't possible to get concurrent or even consecutive slots, although I had managed to get us slots only two apart. Went to check in and asked if the nurse could take us both at the same time. Yup!

Sauntered back toward the injection area, 6' apart from others (us together), maybe 5 minutes before we went in. Then sit and wait for 15 minutes or so to be sure no sudden adverse reactions. As expected (and hoped!) my penicillin allergy was no problem. (Well, no respiratory problems with that, so, yeah, didn't become an issue.)

Although my prior info was wrong, we got the Pfizer version, not the Moderna. (I'd guessed Moderna earlier since it's a satellite facility, figured the logistics of cold would make it the Moderna.) Second dose scheduled on the spot, three weeks out.

That was all done before noon. By mid afternoon we both felt a little flushed. Not feverish, just warm(ish). Injection site a little sore, but not even as much as, say, a tetanus shot. Pat felt a little tired. I did, as well, but in my case I think it was more the relief / come-down from worrying that my allergy might cause a problem.

She's still abed (only one of us is crazy enough to still be up at 6 even though retired  ) but I woke feeling fine. No residual issues. Other than relief :)

So glad you only had mild reactions to the shot. That's to be expected I'd think as your body works to make antibodies. Its a small price to pay. And I'm glad you didn't have any allergic reactions. Wish we'd had some response so we'd have an idea of when we could get an appointment for ours. So far, nothing.

It sure looks like it's raining hard outside, but when I shoveled the deck to get to the bird feeders my coat didn't even get wet. It wasn't rain at all, just little icy balls and they bounced off. Mike didn't have any trouble using the snow blower, but he would have if we were having rain. I'ts a good thing it's not rain because we're below freezing so everything would be encased in ice and that brings its own problems. Wow, imagine if this all actually was snow!

Yes, happy to have had no adverse reaction! I was pretty sure I'd be ok, and so was my PCP. Pat had less reaction than she did to the last flu shot, which left her a bit groggy and slightly under the weather for a day or so. No issues for her at all, other than as mentioned earlier.

Somewhere between sleet and hail? Out here the 'casters call that grapple. :D

When we got our shingles shot (Shingrix) Mike had no reaction, but I had a sore arm and mild fever for 24 hours both times, but some Tylenol took care of that. Other than a mild sore arm I've never had any reaction to the flu shots.

Well, we've got a lot of grapple then! No rain mixed in at all. It looks like water is splashing off the top of the deck railing, but it's there's no rain mixed in. Just little icy balls! Yesterday when the snow starting falling I looked at the flakes and they were little tiny 5 pointed stars! Our daughter also had some crystals clumped together, but I didn't see any of that here. It's 28 out there now so I guess this is not going to turn to rain and that's a good thing.

I've followed augmented reality / deep fake evolution for some time .. I find it both fascinating and chilling with what can be manipulated into making folks believe what's not .. this is the Brave New World we live in .. Rolling Stone did a piece on a guy named Steven Wilson, who I'm sure you've never heard of, yet has been both on his own and in a band or two that the young folks likely know of ::

His commentary on this is interesting in and of itself ::

“’Self’ is about our new age of narcissism and self-obsession, one in which a human race that used to look out with curiosity at the world and the stars now spends much of its time gazing at a little screen to see themselves reflected back in the mirror of social media,” Wilson said “In that sense, everyone now can take part in the notion of celebrity and has the potential to share their life with an invisible mass of people they will never meet. The video takes things further by exploring the idea that anyone can now project a version of ‘self’ that has no bearing on reality, and by using only well-known faces, the deception is made transparent.”

“Your face is not only your key to a lot of the media you consume, it represents who you are — or whom you pretend to be in your online personas,” he said. “One of the most intriguing new developments in recent years has been the ability to create deep fakes, where a computer runs a machine-learning algorithm to predict what one face would look like in another’s pose. Anyone with the right tools and ability can now turn themselves into anyone else, so what does that mean for identity?”

We have watched Cobra Kai, they say there will be a season 4. We enjoyed it and hope the 4th season happens!

I finished up Season One last night, moving to Season Two tonight .. I like it, kind of a comedy / drama meld ..
