It was hot here today so I was not surprised we had a pretty good light show tonight. Very little thunder but huge streaks of lightning. I don't care for fireworks but I love to watch heat storms. Go figure.

Hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Good morning. Very early morning at that. I got no sleep last night and little the night before. I was dead tired, so I laid down for a nap at about 5 pm. I woke up at 11 pm. So here I am at 2 am cruising the internet.
I've been getting rid of batteries that don't hold a charge, so I raided my battery stash and changed a set of three married batteries for single mod use. I haven't used a 3-battery mod in a long time. I still have two sets of three married batteries.
I'm getting caught up on UK PD. I like how they do some things and shake my head at others. Earlier they were handcuffing a subject and he asked if they were going to handcuff him with his hands behind his back. The patrolman told him, "No, we're not the Americans." I got a good laugh out of that.
I made a big pot of ham and beans and cornbread the other day. Yum Yum! I finished off the last of it for lunch. Now I think Ill' go to the store later and pick up a chicken and some Reames frozen egg noodles for a nice pot of chicken and noodles. I like single-pot meals. I find it much easier to reheat a meal than trying to figure out what I want each day and cooking for one.
I had no idea what my grandson and his fiancé might need for baby Carmen, so I went to Target and picked up a card and a gift card. I know it is an effortless way of doing it but for me, it is better than the alternative and then having them return the gift for exchange.
I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning, Lizards!

I'm so glad it's Friday...it's been a very long week. I paid $3.69 for gas this morning, using my Kroger fuel points at a Shell gas station. I stopped for a breakfast biscuit and coffee at McDonald's on the way to work, and for the first time in a looooong time, the coffee is actually really good. It's not strong enough to make me want to beat my chest and howl at the moon, but it's not weak and watery, for a change. Two wins this morning...maybe I should go buy a lotto ticket!

I hope you all are having a good day!

Hux has his last soccer game on Saturday. It's the first time we've been happy is game is at 8:30 a.m. Mike is coming down for it and afterward we'll head home. It's amazing how much these 5 year olds have improved since the first practice. The coach is amazing. Where was he when our kids were playing! You can tell he's an accomplished soccer player and he teaches high school. He's fabulous with the kids and very creative in the practices. Mike used to play soccer many moons ago. He's going to be impressed. And Hux gets SO excited when they score a goal. It's a riot.

Awww, I love watching little ones play sports! Not so much in blistering heat, but it's such a hoot. I was at my step-son's T-ball game years ago and all the kids got so excited by a giant ant hill (luckily not fire ants) on the field that they all just kind of forgot about playing ball. The coaches had to stop the game and get them back on track!

I'm glad the game is early...at least you won't be frying in the stands in all that heat. That kind of misery can suck the joy right out of anything.

Morning, lizards.

Odd, it looks like the weather guessers got it right, and we'll have two dry days in a row! (The longer guess of nearly a week dry is still on hold!)

I had no idea what my grandson and his fiancé might need for baby Carmen, so I went to Target and picked up a card and a gift card. I know it is an effortless way of doing it but for me, it is better than the alternative and then having them return the gift for exchange.

I tend to lean that way as well, unless, maybe, they have a gift register somewhere. And, for us, it's often the case that shipping a gift costs as much as the gift, so, yeah, gift card sent :)

Hola .. :)

I sail in that same boat .. chili, chicken and dumplings (usually made with a rotisserie chicken) .. big pot of enchilada soup, etc ..

As I've said before, I make a mean chili, and, I can extend it over several days .. chili on Day One, Frito Pie on Day 2, chili and spaghetti on Day 3 and chili omelet on Day 4 .. and, if there's any left, chili dogs on Day 5 ..

Cowboys ate beans every day, and maybe still do .. o_O

I think it is a good idea because you don't know what they need. Personally, I am not fond of gift cards. I prefer cash. Then I can go where ever I want to. I horde gift cards. Save them because maybe one day I won't have the money to eat or something. I really need to go ahead and use them. I have checked to make sure they are still good. I could take myself on a date to TGIF, Cracker Barrel, Panera Bread, or Olive Garden.

I hope everyone has a good day.
If by good you mean grocery shop, fillup the car at $4.29 a gallon gas and have swamp a s s, yeah it has been a good day.

It's National Streaming Day .. ;)
I thought you were kidding but no, it really is a day. YAY! I like that one.

I don't know what I would do without my Firestick. I tried to teach dad to stream but he does not like it. Will not give up his cable even though they keep going up.

He keeps his home also so he can take out his aggression on sales/political calls. It's good to have hobbies at any age.

My son didn't mention a gift registry.

I did not want to trust cash. Cards can get "lost" going through the mail. Well, I have done it a $20 but for the amount I sent It would be difficult to replace if it did get lost.

Oh never in the mail. Sorry, I did not know you were mailing it. I thought your son lived close to you. BTW, how is the little precious angel doing? You need to practice giving updates Grandpa. hint, hint
